And I say...

Actually, my name is at the bottom. You might be confusing me with Jamie
Randell who ran the list after Laurie Salopek took over from me.

Hi. :)

No, actually the Old Gray Mayor's memory is even worse now that I don't use
hair dye. I thought that looked odd. I did mean Jean Pryor.

Sorry!

This is actually quite fascinating. Back in 1996, two days after Darkangel
announced that she was discontinuing the FKFIC-L website, Laurie Fenster
made a post, "Clarification; fkfic-l vs. Darkangel's site", which said:

> Folks, _fkfic-l_ isn't going anywhere, as far as I know.
> Darkangel (Steffi) has very kindly maintained an fk fiction
> _website_ for the last year or so (http://www.evil.org or

So getting all of these things a bit mixed up seems to be about par for the
course. As both Laurie and McLisa point out, FKFIC-L (the list) never shut
down. However, *archiving* fanfic seems to be more complicated story.
Basically, I've got references in May about:

(a) a recently defunct FKFIC-L **website** run by Darkangel for "about a
year or so"
(b) possibly a JADFE archive, run by James and Darkangel (certainly the
JADFE list existed)
(c) the FTP site, run by Cynthia Hoffman, reported at that time to be
temporarily down for modifications
(d) a very new fanfic site, run by Mel Moser, which at that point only had a
few stories from April

And I'm trying to get all this sorted out!

On Sat, 2 May 2015, McLisa said,

> I didn't remember James W.'s Fkfic-l site, although there was
> an archived site originally run by another member.

Now, that *would* make sense if James was only associated with JADFE. So
maybe it's Darkangel who is the "another member" McLisa is remembering?

Anyway, I've now read further ahead, and spotted a post from Annette Larsen
("Transcripts?", 8 May 1996), in which she asks:

> A while back I downloaded some episode transcripts from
> Lt. Darkangel's web page and I was wondering if there are
> any others available. These were transcribed about a year
> ago by Victoria Meredith and Allison Sabo, with help from
> Janet Dorndoff and Sara Welsh.

These pretty well have to be the same transcripts that were later on Mel's
site. Certainly the names of the transcribers are the same. (It can't be
Mel's site that's referred to here, though, since it wasn't around "a while
back" but had only barely been started.)

By the way, on 6 May, in a long post about a lot of different things, Susan
Garrett included this:

> I want to thank DarkAngel for having the guts to have kept the
> fiction web page going as long as it did. I'm sorry to see it go.
> There's at leat one group of FK potential-purchasers who did
> some serious downloading and reading from that page to determine
> whether what they wanted from FK was what the audience
> wanted and how it would affect the package they put together.

Which is intriguing.
