Mel stepped in to take over the website, and ran it for a number of years before she too could no longer work on it. When that was I can't remember---but it was around 1999 that things started getting erratic (the 1999 fanfic award votes were never tabulated, and the contest was never turned over to any of the several volunteers who wanted to help out). I joined the fandom in 1994 and FKFIC was active then. Some people didn't want fanfic, and it was increasing an already high volume, This was in 1992. This isn't the same person as James Walks-with the Wind, who created and ran JADFE. The latter was for erotica because Fkfic-l, being on a publicly funded site, couldn't take JADFE type material even with an Adult: topic. Fkfic-l, like Forkni-l, had to give up being archived at PSU because the volumes were high enough that the existence of the lists was threatened. I didn't remember James W.'s Fkfic-l site, although there was an archived site originally run by another member. Mel's site came, I think, slightly later but eventually was the only site. As for JADFE and any website connected with it, they had no connection with Fkfic-l or Forkni-l except that the writers and readers were likely to be from those lists. I was never involved with JADFE so can't say anything else about it. McLisa (Lisa McDavid) listowner of the two PSU lists now and for xetensive periods in the palmy days (or maybe that should be the barmy days <EG>) On Fri, May 1, 2015 at 4:59 PM, Nancy Kaminski <nancykam@c.......> wrote: > ---------------------- Information from the mail header > ----------------------- > Sender: Forever Knight TV show <FORKNI-L@l.......> > Poster: Nancy Kaminski <nancykam@c.......> > Subject: Re: First mention of Mel's site on list > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Okay, dredging up old memories, I believe that Jamie, who created and > managed FKFIC, could no longer take care of it, hence the message > about it shutting down.
