My guess as to the reason TriStar declined to sell is that it
wants to keep the property to make movies with, now that it has the
requisite 70 episodes for stripping.

The story about it upping its price twice... amazes me. I hope
we can eventually get a source or a confirmation for this. It sounds
unprofessional (she says naively, like anything in Follywood is done with
the slightest nod to professionalism...), not to say Positively Spiteful.

We still need to persuade them that there is More Profit to be
made by going for a fourth season.... and for that we need numbers. Bring
people over. Drag them over. Worry about whether they *want* to be over
once you get them there! (Those of you on FK spoiler know what good
example I'm thinking of.)

Alora (and list);

Unless someone posts a real reason why we shouldn't/can't do this, I'm
offering to send money towards defraying the costs. It won't be larger than
your sister's weekly salary <G>, but it will make a drop in the bucket.

I know not all 900 people on the list will do this, but IF they DID feel so
inclined, we'd have exactly $900.

Meredith Pickering, wasn't it you who was doing something along these lines
as well? Are you here right now, and do you have any info re: the "Do we
need permission from Tri-Star?", etc., to offer Alora's sister? (BTW, please
tell your sister that this is *splendid* of her. I've been both a television
and a film/video major, and editing can be *exhaustive*!!)

If you guys have cared enough to do this and sacrifice all that time, I in
turn will be thrilled to contribute. I am impressed beyond belief.

(BTW, what is everyone's take on the fact that we feared KOFY was going to go
with the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" crap show, yet have apparently
reconsidered and offered to do this? That would make it doubly wonderful,
if they did choose this instead.)

Of course he's a humanitarian. You know, vegitarian...humanitarian...<g>

heheheheh....I can see it now. the Disney version of Forever Knight:

Tracy is out frolicing with the other little humans, her big, empty eyes so
 trusting and loving. Then in
swoops Uncle all red eyes and fangs. She, in her trusting, empty headed
way, skips over to him and gives him a BIG hug, instead of running for
her life like the other, wiser, more intelligent humans. This, of
course, is the end of Tracy, for she becomes, well, lunch. And then
there is a big fire and someone gets shot by a hunter...but, well, that
would come after the comercial break.

This is bad. I really should be studying for that midterm. I apologize
for any undue silliness in the above Bambi-ish scene. But darnit, all I
can think of is a cartoon version of Uncle.....

I just watched tonight's episode of Taking the Falls on CTV, and who
should show up as a heavy-drinking rich-b*tch money-grubbing daughter of
a close-to-death millionaire? Yep, our own Janette, Deborah Duchene!
Since I get the thing twice (ah, aren't satellite dishes *wonderful*!) I
plan to tape the show a little later.

It isn't a big part, but it's fun to see Deb do something so delightfully
different! For 1st season fans, Barclay Hope who played Nat's
serial-killer boyfriend in Only the Lonely, has a small part as well. I
guess there really ARE only 37 actors in Canada!

So, West Coast CTV viewers,
if you get this message in time, should be able to see the show too.

Thanks Felicia,

Please remember everybody: we are interested in getting this commercial
in as many markets as possible; and I don't want people to send money for
this and forget about the $9000 Laurie put up for NATPE. I appreciate the
help, but we've got to be fair.

If anyone calls their local syndie to find out about air time, and gets
the info to do it, e-mail me with their call letters, city and address so
we can customize the commercial for each market.

*IF* you can contribute (and hopefully that means you have also already
contributed toward Laurie's fund) you can send checks to:

Alora Chistiakoff
[Address removed]

Don't send anything out before Saturday though, just in case we have to
cancel.

I promise to keep the list updated every step of the way.

Also, since air time can get expensive in some markets, we might want to
consider pooling resources in various areas...you know like a group of
fans from Boston pooling together to cover expenses to air it in Boston
(or where ever).

I would like to organize this, but I have been neglecting my school work
as it is.

Also, about the 800 number. I think we will get it installed and put an
answering machine on it saying something like: "You have reached Friends
of Forever Knight. In an effort to save our favorite show we are trying
to enlist as many fans as possible, if you leave your name and address at
the tone we will send you the information necessary to help. Thanks"

That way Kira (who also has the bad habit of forgetting about school when
she gets involved in a project) doesn't have to sit by the phone all the
time, and then we can send them the info.

But I would like it if someone (preferabley with a good printer or access
to a copy machine, as we currently lack both) could handle actually
mailing the stuff. Response time would have to be quick, so maybe a few
different people in a few different regions...that way no one person is
stuck with the expenses, either.

Think networking, in non-cyber sense.

And I would be sure to pass on the info from the machine on a daily basis.

We don't have much time, so all of this has to happen fast.

I'm gonna call my sister now and find out how the meeting with the Santa
Rosa syndie went.

I'll post the details ASAP (she is going to try and use their editing
room for the commercial, they have better hours than the college).

Ok, any ideas, thoughts, concerns, criticisms...e-mail me. (I've said
that more today than in my whole life!)

Oh, yeah and by the way (it sickens me that I have to say this...and it
doesn't apply to most of you, so you can ignore it): I don't have the
time or the energy to deal with e-mails about this being a scam. If
that's the way you feel, then like Laurie and everyone else said before,
DON'T SEND ANYTHING. I am doing this because (a) I love the show and (b)
I HATE bullies more than anything in the world. If I hadn't been commteed
before, TriStar's behavior would have convinced me for sure.

Please don't send me money unless you have already sent some to Laurie!

Thanks...Alora
Entering the next phase...

Well I made a BIG, if the THE biggest, bringing across of a new fan with
Fever. I brought across my own father -- who admits to being homophobic,
doesn't like blondes (male OR female), doesn't like Canada for some reason,
doesn't like Spaniards, doesn't even like cops, and really dislikes French
people (despite the fact that he's 1/2 French and Cajun!). But he LOVES the
show! I was so shocked! About all he ever watches is stuff about guns and
Sherlock Holmes. Me and my dad are TOTAL opposites except for where this
show is concerned -- Dad's a Cousin, too. Man, I feel like Lacroix bringing
across a nun. Not that my dad is saintly, but it has about the same level of
difficulty. ;)

As of midnight 2/15, I've put two new wave collections up at my waves
site and taken the BMV & C&C waves down. The new collections contain
seven favourite Vachon quotes (er, not *my* favourites, but a
Vaquera's ;-) and six quotes from the episode "Fever," which include
Screed's dying words, Vachon's graveside tribute to Screed, Nick's
"Stay out of the sun..." line, LaCroix (as the Nightcrawler) quoting
John Donne ("One short sleep passed..."), and LaCroix's heartbreaking
"A dozen, in a single night..." Nightcrawler monologue. Most of these
are much shorter than the BMV & C&C ones, so they should be a lot
quicker to download. The Nightcrawler monologues are the only really
large ones, but they are worth it. These waves will be online at my
site between the 15th and the 25th.

Again, the site is: http://www.dpcc.com/dpcc/assoc/lpetix/waves/

Thanks again to everyone who has sent me suggestions and/or let me

waves from "The Fix" next, as I have had a number of requests for
those.

I never suggested that we should judge him by *any* standards. I was merely
posing a hypothetical situation. Hence my phrasing: "However, *if* we judge
Nick..." I was only pointing out that if we judged Nick as strenuously as he
judged himself, we'd have a *very* low opinion of him. Many folks were
coming down on Lacroix for his killing nature, so I was only pointing out the
other side of the proverbial coin. ;) Many folks were attempting to judge
*Lacroix* and all vampires for that matter by human standards. I was only
trying to show that vampires, not even Mr Knight himself, don't come out
looking very good when we judge them by our own standards.

Wow, what a task to undertake! I attempt to counsel my computer (y'know

it never works. The darn thing keeps doing what I tell it instead of what I

FORKNI are in *serious* need of counseling (especially the angsty Knighties

Subject: Re: SOS-FK Commercial <long, again>

Here I am again...

OK, an update from my sister: Kira (with help from Toni, me and whoever
else wants to help) is putting together a proposal for the news
department of the local station, and one for the local paper.

News on the Paragon/FK front: she spent much of the day on the phone to
LA talking with a guy named Gary at the Paragon office. According to him:

(a) the last day of shooting is Wednesday the 21, unless they have to re-do
something in which case it will be Thursday.

(b) The following week the sets are being struck.

(c) The Paragon LA office is being vacated within a week.

(d) Paragon Toronto will be opened for a while longer, but not much. They
have post-production stuff to take care of, but then they are closing as
well.

(e) TriStar has been forwarding the mail to Paragon; A LOT OF IT
UNOPENED!!! <we knew they didn't give a sh**, but still>

[Forget about TriStar, we have to go straight to Sony from here on in.]

Anyway, Gary was truely amazed at the lengths to which we are going to save
the show. (Apparently he doesn't know much about us at all; maybe he
should take to Jim)

As to my previous posts: I had mentioned an 800 number, which Toni
thankfully pointed out, would be too expensive. In which case she/I/Kira
propose the following: anyone who arranges to run the commercial on a
local station has to come up with a local phone number for people to
call. I know it is a pian, but unless there is another way, I think it's
the only choice we've got.

Which brings me very nicely to my next point: we need more stations, though,
guys. San Francisco and Santa Rosa
are nowhere near enough. We can run it in No CA, but if that is the only
area, we might as well not do it, because it isn't going to be enough.

We also need to know who it was that tried to buy the show (rumors say
maybe Rysher).

And we especially HAVE to know that we are not trying to get
something that the cast and producers don't want. If Ger/Cath/Nigel or
Parriott, Gray et al. are not interested in returning then we might as
well stop before we invest ourselves (in *every* sense of the word) in
this even more than we already have.

Kira is going to call Gary at Paragon tomorrow (who, btw, has to be fairly
low on the totum pole, because he didn't even know about the third party
offer until my sister told him!) and see if/what he can find out.

He also says things at Pargon LA are pretty glum, as eveyone is being
canned in two weeks (or less). They can't be much better in Toronto.

BUT REMEMBER: We lost the show for a year before. The sets have been
struck before. Then the sets were rebuilt. If we are committed, then lets
do it. But (as Kira and Toni discussed...so I am sure Toni will go into
it in more detail, as my knowledge on the conversation is only second
hand) if Kira does this, the commercial the phone the whole thing, that
is a serious committment. And once she does it there is no going back, so
she (and I) have to be sure that there is going to be some support
(emotionally/motivationally speaking...). Otherwise, she (the
responsibility is on her for the time being because I won't be back in CA
until mid-May) can't do it. (It doesn't help that she isn't on-line...not
for lack of trying, just lack of money)

Well, I guess that is it for now...oh, I almost forgot: Kira wants to
know if there is ANYBODY on the list who is in Sonoma County (who would
be willing to help). E-mail me privately.

Subject: Sony

I've been noticing the recommendations to write Sony. Just for general
info, I'm putting on alist of recommendations of what to use in your letter
(most of these weren't mentioned in the address list off the SFK list).

When addressing someone, instead of "Mr." or "Ms.", use the suffix, "-san".
This is both feminine and masculine. Ex.: If you're writing to an Osaka
Tomage, open your letter, "Dear Osaka Tomage-san,". This is considered
quite polite.

As noted (this is an *important* reminder), be polite! Be more polite than
you have ever been to anyone in your life. Even the slightest phrase/work
which can be interpreted as unpolite may be taken as an insult. Just
imagine having to live on a tiny island with a population half the size of
the U.S. Then imagine how yo'd like to be treated in as close of quarters
as this.

Japanese greetings are specific to such things as time of day (morning,
afternoon, night), rank of person(s) as related to your own, whether you've
met the person (face to face only!) before, etc. Unless you're extremely
daring, stick with English. You'll have to find it yourself, as I'm not
ever sure what would be in correct format.

The most absolutely completely polite way to say "thank you" is "Doomo
arigatoo gozaimasu". In regular formal, Doomo arigatoo or arigatoo
gozaimasu will work. DOn't take any chances. Go all out.

If anyone has any questions, please e-mail me at phoenix@i....... . Doomo!

How about the Lost Ones? It describes Urs pretty well, what with her need
to find a faher figure, hatred of her immortality but the inability to end
it, and the sadness blanketing her soul.

Cousin "Susan" Phoenix

No. I won't lead it either. I like Urs, but I haven't the time.

Well, if criticism of him is anything to go by, lots of listmembers
*do* have a low opinion of Nick.

P.N. Elrod's been vocal since USA decided to kill off Schanke and Cohen and
get rid of Janette (probably longer than that). She's also furious about
Vachon (esp. his flashbacks).

Okay, my new favorite, for Urs' faction, is now the Urstwiles. Anyone with me?

Well, I tried my hand at bringing someone across tonight. Unfortunately, I
think I pulled a Nick (or maybe it was a Janette). Saw "NIQ" -- she loved
it and wanted more. Rolled "MBIAV" -- she decided she was definately a fan
of Natalie! She wanted more, so I brought out "Fever" -- she got tired, she
picked apart every little aspect of the clinical trial/AIDS plot device, and
disliked it as much as I LOVED it. All in all, it was anti-climactic. She
also professed a lack of free social time just before she went home, but she
did promise to write some letters tomorrow and said that when she had some
free time in March, she would love to see some other eps.

Ah, well. I have two more vict... I mean, friends whom I will attempt to
bring over this weekend. Please send me some good vibes and think warm fuzzies!

Subject: letters to Japan

I've already sent one letter to Sony in Japan, and now have a second going
out. Isn't the Japanese executive listed for the Sony America address the
same as the one in Tokyo? Should we send *two* letters to the same person at
different addresses? I've made my letter as polite as possible, with as much
encouragement as possible for the CEO to investigate the true strength of FK
as a viable commodity with potential for future revenue if handled correctly.
I'm sticking strictly to English, and I think that someone in an
international business such as these people are in, will know that Americans
don't think from a Japanese perspective. I think we should give them credit
for being aware of that.

Doesn't sound like its worth trying to write to Feltheimer again if he's
forwarding everything to poor Paragon. The 21st is the last day? An
incredibly unhappy thought...

I haven't been returning to places where I've left flyers to see how they
went, but last night I stopped in the ladies room on the first floor of the
building my office is in and realized that the flyer I had taped to the
mirror was still there (after about 3 weeks!) and only 3 address strips (out
of 14) were still attached to it! People *have* been tearing them off!

I'm going out of town *again* (sigh) next week to Freemont, near San Jose,
California. If some of the FKers in the area would like to chat while I'm
there, let me know. As usual, I'll be pretty busy, but will certainly have
time for a phone chat or to meet for coffee in the evening. I'll fly up
Tuesday, but don't know how long I'll need to stay. A couple of days. The
timing sucks, keeps putting a dent in my FK effort...

---------------Original Message---------------

Please note (as posted by Karen Tobin) that we have a new executive name
for Sony, and an address for the Main Office of Sony in the US:

Sony Corproration of America
[Address removed]

The name is Ms. H. Onoyama, and she is Vice President of Sony Corporation
of America. She is, in fact, the chief Sony officer in the US (since they
recently fired their US President). It is highly unusual that a woman
should be in this position.

Ms. Onoyama is in regular contact with Norio Ohga, the Sony Corporation
Chairman/CEO in Japan (who is travelling at the moment). When she speaks of
Mr. Ohga, she says she is "Vice President of his office here." (This speaks
to the extremely personal Japanese management style.)

SUGGESTION: Send this woman all the goodies in the world. She is an
intelligent, gracious, gentle woman who seems to have absolutely no notion
or clue about FK. She does not, as far as it can be determined, have any
history at all in terms of the entire TriStar situation. If one is
reserved, polite, professional, and earnest, she may turn out to be an
excellent ally. Bombard with gentleness: the rewards may be great.

Subject: 1st & 2nd Season Tapes

Hi everyone. I don't know whether this message made it before (CompuServe and
I can't get along-can't wait to get back to my AOL) but there was someone who
had offered to make me tapes of the first two seasons of FK as I was missing a
few. After getting in contact with me I was unable to do it but I told her I
would get back to her when able to. But now I can't seem to find her address
(Email or snailmail). So, if that person is reading, please get in contact w/me.
Just in case she's not available to do this anymore, would anyone who can make
copies email me privately? Also, let me know if you have Ger's pilot. I just saw
Springfield's recently (ewww) and just saw Ger's version at the Visions95
Convention (yay!!!). My daughter (who is as big a fan as I am) is more vocal -
being 15 one tends to be more emotional anyway - and she burst into tears at the
end when Ger's starts crying over (what was her name?'s) body after LaCroix
killed her. I thought I was going to have to carry her out of there!! (grin).

Anyway, many thanks to you in advance for getting in touch with me.

P.S. - Not too long ago I posted a note about some adult fiction. Did everybody
who was interested get on okay? Since my email address changed I don't know if
anyone was trying to reach me and couldn't - oh and one more question - now that
I'm on thru Compuserve I've forgotten how to set it so that I get all the
fiction - Adult type included. Can someone freshen my memory? Okay - I'm done
now. Bye.
Love you all
