Not just tragic, not just >undesirable, not just hateful (any of which might be justified if well >done), but badly conceived and badly written. I find the current trend towards "finale" episodes to long-running series to be counterproductive to reintroducing those series in reruns (a reason, perhaps, that most reruns omit those episodes in their rotations). I would have chosen to leave *all* of the outstanding issues in FK unresolved: no attempt to bring Natalie (or Tracy) across, no killing off major characters, just "any other episode". If I'd *had* to write a final episode that was a capstone on the series (and not just another murder-of-the-week-and-neck-of-the-week), it might have been something that pushed Nick so far into the public eye that he would have *had* to fake his death and relocate. With or without Nat, with or without Lacroix. Possibly leaving Vachon to follow in his footsteps, or to help Nat and/or Tracy find out where and why he's gone (or stop them from finding out). The bloodbath was, IMO, unnecessary. Brenda F. My show was cancelled, so I'm going to take all the toys home/kill everyone off, so no one else can play with them! When LK aired, I was at home because of a bleeding boiled in a place where I couldn't sit comfortably, so we had arranged for the local party to call me after the end. I'm pretty sure the first words out of my mouth were, "What the F was that?" (In front of my Mom, no less. She agreed with me, too.) It was almost the proverbial car crash. You knew something horribly wrong was happening, but you couldn't take your eyes off it.
