Precisely! It told many stories from many viewpoints, coming across history to
tie into the present. The shows today lack the visceral emotions of FK, the
essence. Today shows are all about the flash-bang of super special effects and
have little in the way of acting skills. Retelling FK would just be... different
now.

All this sounds like a lot of "modern" shows are more updated

When seeing the show for the first time I thought it being typically Canadian
with a bit European influence by Tele M=FCnchen (TMG). At least it appeared
different in a small ways compared with tv shows on the USA side.
I have afterward wondered TMG's part in this series, was it the reason why so
many flash backs were from Europe, to better catch watchers on this side of
world? And the main vampires were originally Europeans. But of course after
some hundred years that probably has no meaning for them actually.

Yours sincerely

Well, unless you have Native American Vampires, the flashbacks could only go
back so far with American vamps. Besides TMG apparently always badgering for
more skin and gore I don't know about their influence on the stories. The way
the show was treated in Germany makes me wonder they bothered at all.
But, I like me my medieval Nicolas ;-)
