I sooooo miss that! :-( Just a quick question: Is anyone working on a new story or planning to post one soon? I give major credit to the recent past "Yuletide Awards". I was motivated to participate for several years in that FK writing competition. However, now that is no longer a incentive. I know we all have very busy lives, but I for one miss the stories, especially the Yuletide Awards. At this time of year, those stories were wonderful because they were inspired with the holiday traditions and emotions. We were given a list of 'holiday' things to incorporate into our story, and they were seasonal items: angel, candy cane used in an unusual way, snowman, etc. All the requirements stimulated the authors imagination, producing wonderful stories!!! I guess I'm reminiscing, but I very much miss the days of opening up my email and finding the wonderful FK stories waiting for my 'real life' escape, into the fantasy world of Forever Knight! And one more thing!!! I think the fan fiction writers were much more creative and gave us more adventures than the FK show ever gave us fans! Sorry, but that's my opinion. So, is anyone working on any FK fan fiction, no matter what? Yes, I would love more N&N, but anything would be greatly appreciated, especially a FK holiday story!!! I think that's why I so loved about the Yuletide Awards. Those stories were holiday inspired and centered around that theme. :-) HAPPY HOLIDAYS, DEBORAH DeborahAHymon.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Dec 2007 21:41:30 -0800 From: ChicagoMel <sgt_buck_frobisher@y.......> Subject: Re: Listers in ice storm? Have already run through three jugs of ice melt & a bag and a half of sand in a futile attempt to clear the sidewalk, back porch, and front & back steps. Lost another big branch off the 90-year-old maple. Made it to school the first day by cheating: hired a cab to go all of three blocks! Then stood in the rain in the middle of the icy road wondering arthritically how I was going to climb over the big mound of icy snow in the gutter to reach the slick sidewalk and creep into the building. But we've been lucky! We've managed to stay vertical and the power has stayed on so far. And it's pretty to see all the trees and shrubs and prairie grasses (we have a little strip of prairie plants by the railroad tracks) all coated with ice. Of course, you have to come to a full stop before lifting your eyes from the pavement to take in all the breath-taking beauty, but it's worth it. My son the photographer is going to be sorry he missed this! B. We have had some ice and some rain here in Upstate New York, are expecting 3 to 6 inches tomorrow, and looking at a Nor'easter this weekend. Joy. After the past couple of winters being mild, I knew we'd pay some time. Looks like that time has come! Stay safe to everyone who is braving bad weather, especially in the midst of getting ready for the holidays. This means I will only have access from work, and not at all on weekends. So, if you ask me for help and don't get a timely reply, the home phone problem is probably why. Sorry! My N&N story is called "Things We Lost in the Fire" and it diverges sometime during the 3rd season. I guess you could say it falls within the realm of the "Where are they Now?" discussion that's been going on the list lately. summary: this will be his last sunset here...tomorrow he leaves...alone A second story is pre-series and called "Lives Interrupted" (I'm not crazy about this title). It's about a young Natalie and Richard Lambert during a crucial summer when their lives change. summary: mom and dad were dead, Ritchie had a broken arm, and she had started sneaking in smokes. What's wrong with this picture? My third story is a short Tracy POV fic inspired by a prompt from a character study challenge on livejournal. It's Tracy thoughts on Nick throughout the 3rd season and called "The Five Facets of a Metro Homicide Detective" summary: Nick Knight...partner...supercop...commitment-phobic...criminal...vampire I do have an FK ficlet finished that was based on a prompt from the same character study challenge as the Tracy prompt. I wrote it up in 30 minutes back in October to get it in just before the deadline so it's completely unbeta'd. It's pretty much only a short paragraph and I barely put it up on my livejournal a few days ago. I hadn't thought about posting it to fkfic-l because there wasn't much to it but maybe I'll toss it up there anyway. The prompt was Nick Knight--redemption Roxana ------------------------------ End of FORKNI-L Digest - 12 Dec 2007 to 13 Dec 2007 (#2007-139) ***************************************************************
