Subject: Re: Survey stuff

Ooh..an FK survey! The list IS still active! *fills out*

> Who are you, where do you live, what do you do?
Victoria,[Xxxxxxx], and I'm currently a highschool student in her final year,
enrolling at SCCC for a film and video degree

  > Who is your favorite FK character and why?
LaCroix without a doubt. I love a villain, and you don't get much better than
LaCroix in that department. Not to mention his generally sarcastic and sometimes
caustic witticisms which delight me to no end.

> How long have you been a FK fan? How did you get started?
Jeeze. I've been a fan since I was twelve, so that makes it nearly five years,
but I'm still a baby in the FK world. My favourite show growing up was Dracula:
the Series, which I only caught a few glipses of when I was around 9. By the
time I learned to use the internet, I jumped from D:tS to FK via the fanfic My
Evil Twin is A Vampire. Being gifted with dual citizenship, I managed to track
down FK episodes on Showcase and managed to turn my newfound interest into a full
fledged addiction. I now have the second season on dvd, the third bootlegged
and I'm expecting the first in the post any day now.

> Have you ever met anyone off the FK lists?
No. It would be interesting, though I expect I'd be more of a spectator than a
participant. There aren't a lot of young fans, which isn't entirely a bad
thing.

> Favorite Episodes for each season?
Egads. Probably Father Figure from first, Close Call from second, and Ashes to
Ashes or Jane Doe from third. There are a lot, though.

> Other hobbies?
Film, drawing, writing, directing, acting (usually forced) doing random
things at weird times of night, sleeping in excess, going to movies with friends,
playing video games, filling out surveys...and then some.
>Family status?
Live with mom and cat. 'Nuff said.

> Have you ever met anyone famous?
Uhm...well. That's a bit of an odd question, since some of my friends are
considered famous or they've got noteriety, but they aren't really what I'd call
famous. Let's say the amount of makeup they wear for their roles makes their
characters more famous than they are. So I guess that's a yes.

> How and where has FK changed your life, and why?
It introduced me to camp. When I was younger, I genuinely liked Dracula: the
Series, but now I know how to appreciate it as an (almost) adult, considering it
a novelty instead of a farce. FK in addition helped me through some difficult
times by being a useful distraction. It helped me get into fandoms in the first
place, though I have yet to run across any of the original Fk fans except for
Susan Garrett and Kristin. I find that a teeny bit depressing, but who knows who
I'll meet on this list?

If you love something...let it go. If it doesn't return...hunt it down, and
kill it.

Don Fasig in [Xxxx Xxxxx], FL (South of Tampa, North of Naples, right
next door to Sanibel Island). I work for a major electronics
manufacturer on the team that handles the support web sites.

> Who is your favorite FK character and why?
I'm a long time Die Hard. It depends on my mood and what episode I've
most recently watched.

> How long have you been a FK fan? How did you get
> started?
I've always been a night owl and started watching during the first
season on Crime Time After Prime Time. I found the lists during the
second season and they (especially the Spoiler list) really nailed
the coffin shut. How can you drop out of a fandom with lists, and
list members, like these.

> Have you ever met anyone off the FK lists?
I've talked to a few members on the phone, but never managed a face
to face meeting. Of course there have been the off list email
conversations.

> Favorite Episodes for each season?
Can't pick.

> Other hobbies?
Reading, movies, mountain bike riding (ok not many mountains in
Florida, but we make the most of dredge piles and old quarries), Tae
Kwon Do, knives and edged weapons, and the newest - fountain pens.

> Family status?
Married with two teenage daughters (they're FK fans but the wife
isn't).

> Have you ever met anyone famous?
Dick Komiyama, Dick Da Bruiser, Red Skelton, Red Buttons, Erskin
Hawkins, John Raitt, Birch Bayh, Vance Hartke, Andy Jacobs, Ed Koch,
Paul Newman, and Sammy Terry. Maybe others, but I have CRS. ;-]

Wishing all a wondrous and peaceful new year.

Subject: Victor the Fang Guy

This Halloween I had my fangs, http://www.deviantart.com/view/24146633/ made by
Victor Moray, a fairly well known costume and prothestics guy. Per usual, the
conversation began with 'why vampires?' and of course, I informed him of my
addiction to Forever Knight. Apparently, Victor floats around a lot of cons, and
at one point met Nigel Bennett.

He offered him a pair of free fangs, but according to him, Nigel refused,
citing the discomfort the FK ones caused him: they're supposed to have some kind
of metal clip thing in the back that makes them really uncomfortable to wear.
It's a pity, though, since my fangs are completely without attachment and very
comfortable, not to mention realistic looking. Out of curiosity, has anyone else
had their fangs made by Victor? I think Kristin F did, but I don't know of
anyone else.

Who are you, where do you live, what do you do?
Karen Reincke, though I write as Kayla Gayle for aestic reasons. I live in
[Xxx Xxxxxxx], TX and work as a catalog sales rep.

Who is your favorite FK character and why?
Janette. Don't know why, but I do. I am also an IB from the word go, though I
can live with other pairings.

How long have you been a FK fan? How did you get
started?
I saw the Rick Springfield movie for my sister was obsessed with him. Being a
fan of vampires, when FK came on Crimetime After Primetime, I had to watch. I
have watched ever since.

Have you ever met anyone off the FK lists?
No. I didn't have a computer until a few years ago and did not even know
fanfiction and fandom exsisted. My son introduced me to the genre through
Powderpuff Girls and Pokemon, who he wrote for. One day I wrote an outline
chapter on FFN, got a good review and have continued, more or less ever since.

Favorite Episodes for each season?
All the IB eps, natch. My favorite is "Blood Money". I also like the Dark
Nick episodes.

Other hobbies?
Lately? No. In the past, I love to read--anything. I also do cross-stitch
and play trivia.

Family status?
Single with one child, a boy named Leon who is 16 and is the reason I'm not
writing a whole lot. I also have a dog--a greyhound/lab mix named Sable. She's
on my site, or you could just look up "Sable the Greybador".

Have you ever met anyone famous?
Sorta. I have met Bill Gates and when I was working at the Marriott, I met
Bill Marriott as well. Does Billy Joel waving at me at a concert count?
Actually, I grew up in Charlotte NC--not many celebrities there. Oh, I did see a movie
filmed once, but never met anyone. And I have served food to NASCAR racers
back in the 80's when I waited tables.

Amoung other interesting things, I love the SA Spurs basketball team and have
lived in five different states and have seen the whole country except for the
Pacific Northwest and New England. Also Alaska and Hawaii, I always say I want
to go to Mexico just to say I stepped out of the US!

**How and where has FK changed your life, and why?

I got me actually writing. I have been writing forever but never sure of if
it was any good. Any writing I entered in school contests came back with the
remark of "too complicated" or "too many characters" or "too much description",
so I never published anything really.

Then my son starts telling me about FF.net and that he got reviews on a story
he wrote about the Powderpuff Girls/Rowdy Ruff Boys. I got online, eventually
and looked up all the stuff I liked.

I discovered the FK fanfic and from clicking on various links, found the
archives. Then I discovered Susan Garrett's site and was hooked. I've never met
her, but she did write me a nice note. I really owe her a debt, really.

Anyway, I wrote a small chapter of my story "Ends and Beginnings" and
actually got a positive review. So I wrote more. And so on.

Writing for FK got me wanting my own site, so I got into elementary web
design. To get ideas, I looked at everyone's site and discovered the Yahoo groups
and the lists accidentally. And I have been here ever since.

Also, before FK, I never was on the net a lot, never replied to newsgroups,
never played in an RPG, etc. So it has really changed my life a lot.

>Who is your favorite FK character and why?

Lacroix of course. :) But I really like nearly all of the other
characters almost as much.

>How long have you been a FK fan? How did you get started?

The first episode that I saw was Curiouser and Curiouser during
the second season and had become a fan by the time the third season
was broadcast.

I used to be a Highlander fan until they killed off Tessa and I was
complaigning to a friend about how doing that had ruined that series
for me. So my friend told me about another series that he thought was
similar - only better (named Forever Knight) and you can guess the rest.

>Have you ever met anyone off the FK lists?

Yes. Many. Dozens!

I attended the Shrewthering and got my photo posted on the web
by participating in the fan tour given by Marg that day. <g>
Then I met over 25 other listmembers at Syndicon 97 followed by
still others at Gerthering 4 then more at several FK parties and
get togethers in the DC metro area.

1st season- Only the Lonely, False Witness, Cherry Blossoms
2nd season- A More Permanent Hell, Curiouser and Curiouser, Close Call
3rd season- Ashes to Ashes, Night in Question, Fever

Ger at Gerthering 4

Susan Garrett during her FK book promo tour

Denise Fergusson - She's one of the 42 actors in Canada (performing
mostly on stage). And I've wanted to mention her on forkni for a
long time but couldn't since she never appeared in FK. However, she
DOES know Ger and Ger KNOWS her! In fact, I *think* they've worked
together in the past. Ger said she's a "very accomplished actress".
And she took me out to lunch once as thanks for maintaining
a web page about her. :)

Also it's really hard to draw a line in the sand when I've attended
stuff and gotten autographs and/or asked questions of guests during
Q & A's so that I feel as if I've met others:

Nigel Bennett, John Kapelos, Natsuko Ohama,

Tom Baker(Dr. Who #4), Louise Jameson(Leela on Dr. Who),
Peter Wingfield (Adam Pierson/Methos on Highlander),
P.N. Elrod, Colin Baker(Dr. Who #6), Gene Roddenberry,
George Takei(Sulu on Star Trek), Senator Barbara Mikulski,
Buckminster Fuller (architect/geodesic domes), Uri Geller, etc.
I'm sure I'm leaving out some ...

>How and where has FK changed your life, and why?

Although I'd always wanted to write, FK actually got me to begin
doing it with FKfanfiction. Then after I transferred at work, and
realized that I knew HOW to do 3 different things that I had done
during one day there entirely because I was on forkni -- I knew
that FK and forkni was definately affecting my life. (One was setting
someone up to use Netscape for their email, another was making a web
page, I forget what the third thing was.)

Then too I'm a survivor of a catestrophic illness and I think FK and
forkni had a positive effect there also.

voice acting I have a thing for voices and Nigel
Bennett has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever
heard.

Vachon would be my second favourite... mainly because
I *heart* scruffy spaniards.

How long have you been a FK fan? How did you get
started?
Well, I vaguely remember watching it every now and
then on Crimetime After Primetime, but it didn't
really make an impression. Then it aired on Sci-fi
Channel. To be honest, I originally watched it
because I hoped it would be an off-shoot of Knight
Rider, one of my favourite shows of the time. It
wasn't, obviously, but it was something even better.
A cheesy vampire show! So, I started setting my
timer, and I watched it every time it aired, and it's
held a soft spot in my heart ever since.

Have you ever met anyone off the FK lists?
Well, I met my current best friend who was on the
list, but I didn't know she was on the list until
after I met her. She and I went to college together,
and the first week I was there I was putting up
pictures on my door from Forever Knight, she walked
by, went "Forever Knight fan? *squee*" and we've been
best friends ever since.

Favorite Episodes for each season?
Oh, that's a toughie! First Season - False Witness or
Feeding the Beast, Second Season - Curiouser and
Curiouser, the Fix or The Code and Third Season -
Hearts of Darkness, Blind Faith, Sons of Belial, Games
Vampires Play, or Ashes to Ashes. Third Season's
always been one of my favourites.

Other hobbies?
Computer games! Anime! Yaoi! I am a freakishly
freakish fan of m/m relationships, and I adore reading
and writing fanfiction that has to deal with such.
I'm sad that way. I'm especially fond of Weiss Kreuz.
If I'm doing something not fan based or computer
related however, I'm usually working or in school.
I'm working towards a teaching degree, specifically in
Japanese. Someday I would like to teach english as a
second language in Japan. Someday.

Family status?
Single! And happily so! The loving mother of two
dogs, four cats, three rats and a snake.

Have you ever met anyone famous?
As a long time convention go-er, I've met many famous
people in voice acting and fandom. I've met Piro
(MegaTokyo), Greg Ayres, Tiffany Grant, everyone in
Duel Jewel, the guy who does Gir's voice (we were
snowed into a convention center together for several
days during Katsucon 9.1), several other voice actors
no one here will know.

Also, Sissy Spacek, Tom Cruise, and Alan Alda all have
summer homes near where I grew up, and I used to run
into them at the stores. And Dave Matthews regularly
shopped at the store I managed. But then again,
everyone in Charlottesville has some horror story or
other about him.

How and where has FK changed your life, and why?
I would never have met my current best friend if not
for FK. Or.. if I had met her it wouldn't have been
such a funny story. I also would never have gotten
involved with Milliways Bar, the most time consuming
online RPG in the history of kiling time. I wouldn't
have become reobsessed with vampires shows, and
therefore would never have seen Vampire Hunter D,
which means I would probably have never gotten hooked
on anime which would have been one less thing my best
friend and I have in common which....

Okay, let's just say I'd be WAY less of a geek if not
for FK, but I also wouldn't have had many of my
happiest memories. So I owe alot to Forever Knight.

Ooh... this was fun! Hope I didn't bore you too much!

Coming out from my crept....

>---Who are you, where do you live, what do you do?

My name is Nancy but always go by KnightWitch since I became obsessed by
FK.. My 2002 black Trans Am conv. is named Raven and my plate/tag is "FK
Raven".
I live part time in [Xxxxxx], NY and [Xxxxxxxx] Florida. Depends on the
weather and my health. I am retired now from my regular cliental but still
make bridal gowns for a store in Fla. Just can't get the designing out of my
system.

>---Who is your favorite FK character and why?

The Caddy of course!!!! I've always loved cars and have a small collection
of vintage cars. I hope one day to own a 62 Caddy. Paint it the same green
if I have to. But that's a dream right now.

>---How long have you been a FK fan? How did you get started?

I started watching FK with CBS Crimetime after Primetime. I'm a true [k]night
person and don't hit the sheets until 6:00 am. So FK was just the series
for me to watch. It became frustrating to try and find the show around the
dials during the first season. But I persisted. Now I'm hooked forever. I
still hand out FK buttons that I make to anyone who notices them on my handbag
handle. Still promoting the show.

>---Have you ever met anyone off the FK lists?

I've been to Bridging and several LCA's. As far as I am concerned...FK'ers
are just the best people you can meet. We're a true TV family. I've been to
so many cons it's hard to remember everyone of them.

>---Favorite Episodes?

1. The Fix
2. Human Factor
3. Close Call

>---Other hobbies?
I love sewing and do this for a living in the form of custom made bridals
and formal wear. For the past 5 years I've been into machine embroidery and
have a line of t-shirts available.
I also love flying. I fly single engine, land and sea planes along with hot
air balloons. I have time in gliders and helicopters. I returned to school
in 1985 and graduated with a BS in AeroSpace Tech. I wanted to fly commercially
but it wasn't in the cards for me. Family commitments come first. I
also collect cars. I have a 1962 Olds Starfire hardtop Ceris Blue [same body
line and trunk as the Caddy} 1969 Merc Cougar XR7 conv red, 1981 Red Pont
Firebird hardtop and my newest baby a 2002 all Black Trans Am convertible.

>---Family status?

Married to the best guy in the world, with two grown sons, two
daughters-in-law, one adopted daughter, one grandson, two adopted
granddaughters.

>---Have you ever met anyone famous?
All the male members of the FK cast except Ben Bass and Greg Krammer.
Kathyrn Long, some writers and producers, creators of FK. Flew with Dick
Summer[radio personality], Sha-Na-Na [50's rock group]. Soupy Sales [you
remember
him don't you?} My mom used to take me to TV shows back in the 50's when they
were live. So I've met many stars then. Ben Vereen, , Johnny Cash, Dug
Henning,  Fabien, Dick Clark and the  regulars  [when I went on Bandstand}
The list goes on and on. When you reach my age you really have a job trying
to remember everyone. Several crew member of Babylon 5. But FK was always the
best and closest to the stars.

SECOND PART

FK has become a part of my life that I never want to loose or change. I've
met so many great people with the same interest and me. My husband has also
been effected by my love of the show. He enjoys going with me to meet anyone
from FK. He too has become part of this wonderful FK family.
