Ger on the TV show "24" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sun, 1 Jan 2006 07:49:27 -0500 From: Marg <mytoronto@r.......> Subject: Re: Getting to know us --Who are you, where do you live, what do you do? My name is MArg and I have the privilege of living in the City of the Knight, [Xxxxxxx]. Supposedly I'm retired, but in fact I'm busier than I ever was, helping a young friend with her bead shop. ---Who is your favorite FK character and why? I'm pretty close to being a Die-Hard, but if pushed, I'll admit to favouring Nick. But I also have a sneaking affection for LaCroix...and Janette...and Nat....and...... ---How long have you been a FK fan? How did you get started? I've been an FK fan since the first episode of FK aired in Canada, way back in 1992. There have been other TV shows that I've enjoyed but this show grabbed me and has never let go. It was FK that pushed me into getting a modem for my computer and making the first steps into email, mailing lists, the Internet and chat groups. Fortunately, I had taped the show right from the beginning and when I learned that the "Canadian versions" were longer and highly sought after, I began to make copies for others. I made well over 100 copies until the first DVD versions hit the stores. As a result I got to "meet" a lot of other fans, via emails. ---Have you ever met anyone off the FK lists? Over the years, I have met hundreds of FK listers, and several have become very good friends. I conducted the Forever Knight Tours for several years and have also attended the LCAs that were held in Toronto, N&N Cons, GWDFC Bikeathons and Gertherings, as well as travelling to see Ger and Nigel perform in Toronto, Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Stratford, New York and Washington. ---Favorite Episodes? Most of the first season eps, plus The Fix, Queen of Harps, Fever, Dead of Night and many others ---Other hobbies? Since I've been spending 100+ hours a week at the bead shop, most of my other hobbies have gone down the drain. <g> However, I still try to get in a little knitting and reading (history, sci-fi and mysteries) when I can and I've taken up beading and lampworking (making glass beads) as well as silverworking. The bead business has also taken me on the road to NY, MD, VA, MI, IL and other states. ---Family status? Single, owned by a couple of cats. ---Have you ever met anyone famous? Most of the cast of FK. at one time or another. In my younger days I was active in politics and met several Canadian politicians, including the late Pierre Trudeau. -- Marg mytoronto@r....... ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 1 Jan 2006 16:37:22 +0000 From: Luicia <luicia1705@y.......> Subject: Re: FK Question > **How and where has FK changed your life, and why? Well firstly it got be back writing - I had meddled in Star Trek FanFic when I was about 15 and I hadn't written anything else since then other than assigned school writing projects which I can't count in the scheme of things (oh yes they were that forced!!) When I rediscovered FK I found out what a huge fan fic community there was out there so I read all I could and found fellow readers/writers with other sites that have been really helpful and encouraging in my creative works of late. Then there are the great people that I've been introduced to as well thanks to our obsession eek!!! I MEAN...er INTEREST (phew!) who have helped get me through some rough times though they don't realise that they have- thanks guys for that, from the bottom of my heart xxx Ok enough soppy stuff... time to try and wake the muse us again. Sorry. Maybe I should have just crawled into a hole yesterday. As someone pointed out (thanks Lisa) I attended Gerthering 3 in Massachusetts NOT Gerthering 4. I'm Robin, or robinchristine, and I live in [Xxxxxxxxx], NC. Right now I'm a stay at home mom for my 4 year old son, and most of the time to my two sisters, too. :) >> Who is your favorite FK character and why? Lacroix and just about any faction concerning the man. Cerk Perk, Cousin, Uffer. Can't stand him with Nat though. I think it's because I'm drawn to characters like his in everything I watch or read. But come on. The real reason is Nigel. LMAO How long have you been a FK fan? How did you get started? Let me see... I was 12 at the time, so around '93. I was flipping through channels at like 1 in the morning looking for something to watch and BAM! there it was. :) Have you ever met anyone off the FK lists? Nope. I had hoped to meet some at Dragon*Con a few years back, but just didn't have time. Favorite Episodes for each season? Yikes! Um, season one would be Dark Knight 1 and 2, Father Figure, and Only The Lonely. Season two would be Father's Day, Partners of the Month, The Fix, Curiouser and Curiouser, Close Call, Be My Valentine, and A More Permanent Hell. Season three would be Trophy Girl ( I like anything to do with Tracy) and My Boyfriend is a Vampire. Other hobbies? Reading, and listening to the radio, mostly rock, metal and 80's music. :) I watch Buffy, Angel, Highlander, Family Guy, MacGyver, and Smallville. Family status? Married, with one son. My mom and sisters (and unfortunately my stepdad) live in the house right next to mine, so it's like we live together. LOL Have you ever met anyone famous? Hmm, I met Christopher Golden at Dragon*Con and talked to him for a while. How and where has FK changed your life, and why? Forever Knight was the fanfic I ever read. LOL It got me hooked to the internet! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 1 Jan 2006 12:34:25 -0500 From: Cindy Clark <clarkcindy@m.......> Subject: Re: Victor the Fang Guy << He offered him a pair of free fangs, but according to him, Nigel refused, citing the discomfort the FK ones caused him: they're supposed to have some kind of metal clip thing in the back that makes them really uncomfortable to wear. >> Kathryn Long's mother told me the same thing when I met her at a con in full dress and she couldn't figure out how I could talk so well with my fangs in. Mine were made years ago by a local guy whose name I can't remember. Those of you who've met me know I'm a rather small person (5'2" or so) and he hadn't taken that into account when he made my custom fit fangs. As a result, my fangs are too long. He offered to trim them, but at the time I was MC'ing costume contests at conventions a lot WITH the fangs in, and everyone thought the resulting lisp was adorable and halarious. And for some reason, people started making sure there was always an entry named "Spaceman Spiff," or "Thapthman Spiftht." I've never asked Greg Kramer about the fangs. A good question for the future <wRPg> --Libs ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 1 Jan 2006 09:42:09 -0800 From: VADC <freedom_bandit@y......> Subject: Re: Victor the Fang Guy Sad for them that they didn't have nice Victor fangs! Though, I have to say the voice acting wasn't affected, 'cause they're all still good. Marlon Brando had a similar problem when the stray cat he picked up outside the Godfather set purred near the mic and made it so he had to loop all those lines. It is not necessary to see any of the previous seasons to catch on to whats going on in the show. About the only thing you will glean from previous seasons is the personal relationships and the soap opera elements of the show --which are handled pretty heavy handedly so its easy to catch up with what went on before. --- Deborah Hymon <debh@e.......> wrote: > you'll know what's happening if you plan on watching > the new season. My sister called me up one day and said why don't you Watch Crime time After Prime time there is a really cute blonde vampire. I said "blonde" vampire huh?. Well I came in on Cherry Blossoms and I was hooked. Really hooked. But not yet crazy. Then I got on the net in the Fall of 95 and with a 1000 folks from the list talking and analyzing the show I got crazy. I actually joined the now defunct FK fan club and then I joined Ger's club. >Have you ever met anyone off the FK lists? Yes. Probably over 200 folks over the 10 year period. Actually met my best friend over a FK discussion chat. I think I attended over 50 FK related events over time. >Favorite Episodes for each season? 1st season- Only the Lonely, Cherry Blossoms (my first) 2nd season- Queens of Harps, The Fixl 3rd season- Night in Question, Fever >Other hobbies? reading FK fiction and now into Stargate Atlantis Fiction, Tennis and travel >Family status? Married for 23 years. Two Girls: Samantha (18) who just started College at GW University and Andrea (15) and one 8 year old dog Kira who thinks she is a puppy. >Have you ever met anyone famous? The entire cast of FK accept for Disher The entire cast of Highlander . The entire cast of Star Trek except for Deforest Kelly, The entire cast of Next Gen and DS9 and Voyager. (Hubby is a big star trek fan), James Darren and Lee Merryweather , Barbara Walters (if you count sitting behind her in a broadway show and saying excuse me) and just about anyone who attended LCA like Keifer Sutherland etc. Also got to meet David Boreanaz and his dad and most of the folks from NYPD. >How and where has FK changed your life, and why? Well, I met my best friends (waves to all ) in the fandom. I mean really really close friends who I don't think I would have met without FK. I also enjoyed my "second" childhood. When I was growing up I never went to conventions, concerts etc. Boy has that changed. I really got into the internet because of FK and I can't say that the best thing is meeting all the list members, I never would think to take a plane alone and go off to some event but everytime a Gerthering or LCA came around I was there. Thats it for me. Sue NNPacker, Knightie and closet cousin ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 1 Jan 2006 16:54:56 EST From: KaAG@a.......
