The only thing that's bothering me is that, having only one vcr, there have
been several times where the beginning of the episode will be chopped
because I didn't have enough time to change tapes. Thank heavens the show
will continue airing on weekdays.I have them all on tape already but I now
have a sat dish and a new vcr. So far it's digital quality compared to my
old set up.

Since we're all giddy from watching FK live for once....

You know that scene where Nick and Schanke are walking down the street,
and Nick sees the woman and fantasizes about biting her, then whips off
his glasses and looks in the cab window, all vamped out?

Does anyone think there ought to have been someone in the back seat of
that cab? <silly grin>

Have to say that "Fever" was a very well-written, well-acted, all around
well-done ep! Ooooh, Screedie is gone! Waaaaaaaah! And how loving
Vachonette was with his main droog! <sniff>

Do we get any overt indication in any eps that V-man brought Screed across?
It seems that it could be argued that he did....

"Sons of Belial" has one of my favorite flashbacks, though Nick's exorcism
is a little hard for me to take....

"Night in Question" -- I think LC must have *loved* that uniform hat. LOL!
The ultimate in "high and tight".... "eg"

Did anyone else think, aside from looking confused, Nick looked a little
disturbed that LaCroix was leaving after Natalie came back? Maybe he felt a
little comforted in his father's presence, even though he didn't understand
it....Also, I suppose he wanted LaCroix to stay around and explain all of
his cryptic comments.

Well, that's my "quickies" on the marathon so far,

Hey, everyone...

I want to thank all of you who've taken the time to send me letters of
condolence, strength and encouragement. They're deeply appreciated, and
during this time of uncertainty in my life, I'm able to draw strength from
them.

My mom always wondered what I saw in 'Forever Knight', and I told her it was
about a vampire who wanted to be mortal again. She said that if I liked it,
it was okay with her, and after she watched an ep (DK 1&2) with me a few
years ago (before I joined the list), she said it was an interesting show.
She was also proud of the fact that I was mentioned in a Chicago Tribune
article back in December of '97 which profiled some of the Chicago-area FK
fans who turned out at Borders to meet Susan G. and talk about her FK novel.
She thought it was good that I was able to meet people who loved the same
thing I did, and she even enjoyed the FK fanfiction which I wrote at all
hours of the night, too...

The FK marathon's on now as I type, and I'm sorry Mom's not here to watch it
with me, but... I'm glad I was able to share my love of a certain
blonde-haired vampire with her.

Much love to you and yours...

Subject: Memories of the Knight

Dear friends,

The first time I saw Forever Knight was sometime in late 1992 on CBS. I had
read Interview with a vampire some years before and it had opened a whole
new world of fantasy to me. I was still saddened by the loss of my favourite
vampire show, the new Dark Shadows miniseries, when I discovered Nick.

I remember staring at the screen in rapt fascination. I couldn't move a
muscle until commercial and then I blinked and shook myself. I really had to
shake it off when they cancelled the series. I was really quite angry. But
then, in 1997, I discovered that they had brought the series back for two
more seasons, cancelled it again, and were showing reruns on the Sci-fi
channel. I watched every episode religiously at 10am, Monday thru Friday.
Second shift was a blessing.

Then I found Mel's site one night. And the rest is history. Here I am now,
since...1998 I believe? I'm not sure, it's been a long time. I've wailed at
the loss of our beloved Knight with all of you, I've made wonderful friends,
I've posted, I've lurked. I've loved. And never dreamed in a million years
that I would find a group who is so loving and compassionate to each and
every one of its members. I'm proud to have been here with all of you this
long. And as long as there is a list, I will be here. I've was there in the
beginning, and I hope that there is no end in sight. Now I encourage all of
you to relate your experiences with the Knight and FORKNI-L.

Subject: A More Permanent Thought

Well, I caught the tail end of AMPH when
I arrived home from work. Maybe it was
just the giddy thrill of watching the show
as it was airing for the first time in at least
3 years, but for the first time in dozens of
viewings I was struck by something new in this episode.

When Spark is getting ready to attack Natalie
in her bedroom, just before Nick busts through
the window to the rescue, we hear Nick speaking.
Since Nick's not in view yet, this allows two possibilities:

1) Spark's vampire hearing is picking up Nick's
vocal threat from outside

or (and this is what threw me)

2) Spark could hear him over a telepathic link!!!

I'd always frowned on this notion as part of FK
canon. I acknowledged that FK vampires could
sense each other as in 'Unreality TV,' but I though
any telepathic link would be restricted to sire/converted,
i.e. Nick/LaCroix, and not available among any vampires.
With this scene, I could actually entertain the idea!

Almost 10 years since I saw my first FK episode,
and it's still surprising me - Kewlness!

Subject: Re: Memories of the Knight

My intro to the Knight:
A while ago, it must have been during the initial showing on CBS, when my
brother was at college, he told me about this cool vampire tv show that was
on late nights - about a vampire who was a cop and he wanted to become
mortal again. I was reading "Interview with the Vampire" at the time. So
one night I stayed up late to see what all the fuss was about. I saw about
half of an episode (later I found out it was "Father's Day") I thought it
was really great, but since it was on so late I couldn't watch it. I was
only about 14-15 at the time.
So I kind of forgot about it for a while, when I started seeing
commercials for a show called "Forever Knight" on USA. I wondered if this
was the show my brother had enjoyed. He said it seemed so. So since I was
going off to college and my dorm room didn't have cable my mom dutifully
recorded it every monday night. :) And I would watch it when I came home on
weekends. I fell in love with the show and was devestated when it ended.
A short time later I found out it was airing on the Sci-fi channel. I was
able to watch the first two seasons in their entirity. It was then that I
found out why my brother didn't like it on USA. When I first saw Black
Buddah - it didnt bother me about Schanke and Cohen becuase I didn't really
know them. But when I saw it again after seeing the first two seasons, I
missed them dearly.
College also brought me an opportunity to create a convert. When I
transferred to a new college I brought along my collection of FK tapes and
would watch them in my room. My roommate (now my very best friend) started
watching them too and is now (4 years later) an avid fan - although she
doesn't have Sci-fi, so she gets her Fix when she visits me. We are even
going to see GWD this summer. So FK kind of gave me the opportunity to
begin a lasting friendship.

I hope this thread lasts. This will be great to see how people were
"brought across"

Hi-
I have created a "Nick"(yes, he's even a cop) who lives in his loft in the
game The Sims. I have tried to get the layout as close as I can (from
memory), but in watching the show today I have noticed some differences.
There used to be a site with the layout of the loft. I tried to find it,
but the link I have no longer exists. Can someone help me?
Once I get it perfected I plan to upload the house to the Sims exchange.
Thanks!

Whew!!! That's a relief.

The marathon is very enjoyable. I found out my roommate is a fan! He's also a
huge Buffy/Angel fan, so I guess it's not too surprising. Nice to finally know
someone else who's actually seen all 3 seasons of FK and enjoyed it.

Just enjoying "Close Call" and getting ready for
Divia to make her appearance next...<g>

Speaking of our Roman mistress/daughter, I wish
they had shown "Permanent" and "Ashes" back to
back. Oh well, such is life.

By the way, I've received a few emails from the
other fandoms for my xovers. They're loving the
marathon too! :) (Just doing my share to spread
the news!)

If only they had shown "Buddha". Oh well, at
least they had "Dark Knight" on--both parts.

Here's looking forward to a nice and long run for
FK on SciFi! :)

One last note: remind me never to get Janette up
in the middle of the day to pester her with tough

Thanks guys! Back to "Close Call" and Schanke's

minute)<hehehe>

My memories of the Knight:

I think I discovered FK about four episodes into it's second season. I was
bored one Saturday night and was flipping around the channels. I stopped on
what I thought was a cop show.

But as I watched more of the episode I discovered the cute blond guy with a
great accent was an eight hundred year old vampire. I was hooked from then
on. I was on Prodigy at the time without access to the web yet so I went to
their tv boards and somebody pointed me in the direction of this list.
I've been here every since.:)

I've been lucky enough to meet some of the cast members and a lot of FK fans
at various conventions through the years and it's been a great ride.

I think this is the most plausible thing. I think only "families" have

Also I don't know if anyone's ever noticed that the windows in Nat's bedroom
appear to be closed all of the time...and the door is locked, so how did

Nope - couldn't have happened as Screed is slightly older. He's 450... and I
forget how old Vachon was.

Besides, in a bit not filmed, Screed talks about going down with a ship or
something like that (I'm going by memory of what I was told and that was
quite a while ago so I could be wrong).

Where was it ever stated how old Screed is? I don't recall any mention of that

I don't see where that precludes VAchon having brought him across. Vachon could
have been on the ship.

Vachon said it in FEVER.... "About 450 years old...."

Here is what Greg Kramer says on the subject in an interview I did with him
years ago and have updated semi-regularly. This is COPYRIGHTED by the way, by
me, and both Greg and I would appreciate that being respected:

>>The following, in Greg's own words, is with HIS caveat that because they
never officially addressed the issue, it's all open to interpretation. If it
had been written into the series that Vachon's was Screed's master, then
that's what it would have been. No saying, "Greg Kramer said ... so it must
be so," or "In Libby's interview ... so that's the way it is...." Right.

Okay, this is Greg's opinion: "Firstly, get out yer encyclopediments an' look
up 'Conquistador.' The years are quite precise: 1540-50. If Screed is 450
years old, then Vachon would have had to have brought Screed over when he was
about 4 or 5 years old. Secondly, I don't think Screed would have stuck
around to help Vachon evade the Inca for all those years on the run if there
had been anything other than an equal-status thing happening between them. I
don't think that Vachon would have created a 'running crew' out of loneliness
or moral support (as has been suggested) ... viz 'Hearts of Darkness' with
Urs ... I think it much more likely that the ol' V-Man stumbled across Screed
in his travels and recognized him for what he was (yeah ... but what IS he?
hehehe). Lastly, there was a whole section of my text that didn't make it
into the final cut of 'Fever' that was about Screed's ship going down and the
time when he was brought across ... info that he was TELLING Vachon, I
believe for the first time and no mention of who his master was." >>

You can read the entire interview at:

He was brought across in 1531. In 'Black Buddha Part 1' Nat tells Tracy,
"We don't know much about him other than he was in his twenties, he was
on the plane, and we haven't found his body." So that would make him
between 484 - 493.

In 'Fever' Vachon says, "In the emergency room, what am I'm gonna tell
them? He's allergic to penicillin, garlic, sunlight, crosses, and food.
He's about 450 and he can fly."

So he *is* older than Screed, according to canon. Ergo, he could be Screed's
master.

Subject: 2001 FK Fanfic Awards -- The Ball's Rolling!

Greetings!

After a strong show of support, I'm pleased to tell you all that 67 FK fans have
registered for voter IDs. I'm all caught up on issuing numbers, so there's no
waiting! I had more than 90 emails of support, so let's see each and every one
of those letter writers apply for a voter ID--and tell your friends and get them
to register, too. It's participation that makes the awards more meaningful!

And thanks to all of you who have already submitted nominations. Please remember
that the stories you nominate must have been published on the web in 2001. Some
of the nominations I've received have been for stories published before that. If
you're not sure when the story was published, by all means still nominate it;
we'll figure it out. But if the story has a date attached to it make sure it's
in 2001.

I've been busy this evening adding stories to the list on the awards website of
eligible stories. Authors, send me a list of your work in 2001, with the URLs of
where they're located. If you don't have a home for a story, Amy R. has
kindly offered server space for the duration of the awards. Send your story to
me in text format and I'll submit it to Amy for temporary archiving. And
please--remember that the list on the website is definitely not complete---it's
just the stories I've dug up or have had submitted. If you want to nominate a
work not listed there, please do! The more the merrier!

Thanks to you all for your support. The ball is rolling!

Didn't I just see in Fever, Vachon say to Tracy (trying to confort her as he
lay dying of the fever) something like ... 'I'm not really young I'm about
500' ... or am I remebering that incorrectly?

If he's 484-493 and says about 500, equally his saying Screed is 450 could mean
Screed was actually a few years younger than that number making the relative
ages even more likely for Vachon to have been Screed's master.

*snicker* Only where Javs is concerned.

In 'Fever' he tells Tracy, "I'm the one usually left behind, Trace. In
five hundred years, I've buried a lot of mortal friends."

I've always taken that to be the same as Nick & LaCroix being 800 and
2000 even. I guess after that long you'd just start rounding the
numbers. ;)

I sent them a thank you last week and to my surprise they did acknowledge the
email with a nice response.

Yes, I think it has. You should see the Sci-fi FK Bboard... whoa! There's
tons of new fans and posts!! http://www.scifi.com/fknight/

Btw, I had a special e-mail last night from one of the actors in the silly
vamp commercial. They said they may be able to get in touch with Sci-fi to
see how the turnout went and if a return movie is possible. I will let you
know what I hear.

Having that marathon was *very* good for FK,

Not for months and maybe not this year, please! :) McLisa is close to starting
to swear in Siamese cat (much more expressive than human) and hiding under the
desk. There will be another one, but not in the near future. Just so you know.

I won't have time to look in on the SciFi boards. Heck, I shouldn't even be on
Mindspring right now. So would someone please explain about Forkni-l and Fkfic-l
and how to sub over there? I realize we can be found with a web search, but some
of the links are out of date as to addresses.

Thanks,

Hey, it was late last night when I sent out the update
post on the awards! Anyway, I forgot to include the URL
of the awards site.

It's located at www.nancykam.com. Follow the links to
the awards page.

Please forward this to any factional list you might be
on -- I'm at work and don't have my address book to send
this out to the faction lists I subscribe to.

Thanks (and giving self a dope slap)

Hi Everyone,
having slipped my mind in the excitement yesterday, i was wondering if anyone
out there had made a note of all the advertisers that ran commercials during
the marathon and during the regular run of the show each day. its important
that we thank them as well, and KtK could use a complete list to put up for
everyone. So anyone that is doing this, or wants the job of collecting the
list for us please contact me off -list?
Thanks...

I emailed both the general feedback address and the SciFi Channel
programming department with my thanks two weeks ago - but thanks for the
reminder - I will do it again.

BTW: I had forgotten how *funny* John Kapelos's imitation of Nigel
Bennett's LaCroix was in "Stranger Than Fiction". I was truly ROTFLOL, so
much so my sides still hurt!!

I also had always wondered how Spark got into Natalie's sealed room -- I think I
just shoved it in my "one of those vampire things" bag that the writers also
seem to have -- the one that can make hash out of our desire to establish a
little bit of canon! LOL

Hmmm...seriously though, maybe *some* FK vampires do have the ability to turn
into mist?? Maybe, if that is conceivably, it just runs in certain bloodlines?
Hmmm....

What I particularly noticed in this ep last night was that Nick did in Spark
with a STAKE. It wasn't part of the window frame, it wasn't part of the closet
door, it was nice and cylindrical and had a perfect point. Soooo, does that
mean Natalie keeps a stake or two in her bedroom? And if she does, why did she
bother to paint it *white*? Did she think it would go better with her decor???
