How do I know? I work with Spence Deckers' father For those who don't know, he is one of the stars of Ultravilot. His father is a fifth grade teacher at my school. I was told that the show is like the X-files meets FK. he also told me they are trying very hard to not be an exact dupilcate of the UK show. just taking the basic idea and changing it. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Jun 2000 13:19:14 -0800 From: Muldy Sculler <ffbmh@a.......> Subject: Re: Ultraviolet Sound like a mess in the making. She seems to remain the most mysterious of all the FK characters. So how about: Did Nick know she was in Toronto when he moved there? Had they been in touch prior to his arrival at the Raven in DK? When had they been in contact last? Was it Nick's choice or Janette's? What had Janette done with her life (in addition to her fan fic shopping and fashion addiction)? Was she a strong vampire on her own or was she only a reflection of her master? Why did Nick believe she shared his interest in a cure? How did she really feel about LC? That should be enough to get everyone thinking :-) Barb ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Jun 2000 20:40:01 -0000 From: Barbara Vainio <bevainio@w.......> Subject: Re: Top 10 List: Vampire Hockey Bob Cradock wrote: So I came up with ... > > > The Top 10 Differences if Vampires Played Hockey > > These are truly hysterical, but I think some of them could use additions :-) 10. My friend, Lisa Ann and myself went to Chicago this past weekend to see 'Joy of the Desolute' directed by Geraint Wyn Davies. There was a group of six Ger fans there to see the play. We were expecting Ger to show up for the play as we were told he had been doing since the first preview performance on Wednesday night. But he didn't make it before the doors closed and we were told that he would be at the theatre afterwards to see us. There were some others with us that Ger was expecting to see there. But he arrived before the end of the performance. At intermission, Ger snuck in with Alana and was there for the 2nd act. They sat a couple of rows directly behind us in the left section. To give you a feel for the theatre, it is a small intimate theatre with only 177 seats. The stage thrusts out into the audience with seating on three sides. The side sections had rows only 4 deep. I'm not good at reviewing plays, but I'll say a few things. If you are looking for a simple straightforward story, this isn't it. There is a lot of symbolism used and intense thought-provoking moments, as well as some disturbing and troubled moments. Music is an integral part of the play, and there is a wide variety in the music choices. Sometimes it is background music to the action on stage, sometimes the focus of what was going on, along with the singing done by the characters. You could sense Ger's influence on it, but I can't describe why or how. Except there was one serious line about Articoke Pie and Ger's fans laughed. I liked it a lot, I enjoy performances where I walk away thinking, feeling. The Director's note in the playbill: Coming of age. Forgiveness. Generosity. Release. Freedom. This is a play about living and breathing, about finding our voice. It touches the agonies and ecstasies of the huiman spirit. We discover a person, a person through other persons. And that even in desolation we must still seek joy. Ger looked great. His hair is cut short, light brown in color with some lighter blonde on top. He looked great in a blue shirt and white pants. I do love him in blue! <G> He talked with us just inside the theatre doors on the steps after the play. Conversation is a bit muddled in my mind and I don't know if I remember what was said first or second, and of course, this is my perception of what happened. I know I missed a lot. Maybe others that went will post their experiences. Early on, someone asked about this move to France. He said, Oh yeah, just for a year and a month or so, and that he was leaving in a month and a half - July. Someone asked why. He said there were some things he wanted to do, some relaxation and he wanted the kids to learn French. He joked about what better place to learn it than in Paris. When asked about what this changed, he said nothing changes. That it was no big deal, and he jokingly added that we should know he never works where he lives, or something close to that. When he was talking with someone in the group, he noticed her Peggy's Cove sweatshirt and mentioned he was trying to iron out details to do some Shakespeare in NS this year. He said this AFTER he talked about his move to France. At some point, he spotted me to his left side, smiled, and hugged me saying it was good to see me again and that he was glad I came up to see the play. I think he realized we drove a long way to come here. So I got my Gerhug and Gerkiss. <G> Then he excused himself to talk to the cast and said he'd be back. While we waited, one of the actors from the play came over and told us how great it was that we came here, supporting Ger. He joked about how they should reserve a whole section for us, since we fill the seats and keep buying tickets. We were only six that night, but I guess he was just complimenting the consistency with which we supported Ger. Well, we were chased out of the theatre into the lobby, so they could close the theatre doors. So we waited for him in the lobby. When he came back, he talked a bit more. Then we took pictures with him After we were done with the pictures, he hugged me and thanked me again for coming up for the play. It was the second time he said it. It was more than a simple thank you. It seemed very, very sincere. Not that he isn't sincere, but it was like he wanted me to know it meant a lot to him, knowing we drove so far. Floating high now... I'm watching "Paradise", expecting Mr. Bennet, and it turned out to be Mr. Wyn Davies. So I thought I'd ask this question that I've had for awhile. It's just being nosey... I learned that Mr. Wyn Davies plays piano (IMHO-rather well), and I wondered if he is like other pianists that I've known: Since pianos are a bit difficult to carry around, people who play piano also play a more portable instrument...does Mr. Wyn Davies? If so, which instrument. (And why doesn't he play more? Do I hear Spoleto? I'll never get to Canada, why not bring him to SC...) And, speaking of Mr. Bennet, does he really play a stringed instrument...violin, rebec or whatever? Hmm, from one of my college courses I remember the relationships between men were not considered wrong either. Relationships between women were strange because the idea was that those relationships were to be put on a pedistal, ie. untoucheable but admirable. Oftentimes men, older men had relationships with younger men, ie. a student (something like that-really vague in my memory now) or a younger protege. In fact from my cultural antropoloy course, homosexuality is not considered wrong by many societies just not spoken of (many cultures have men who act as women, completely act as women, therefore those men dress and postion themselves as women). This caused a uproar in our class when our teacher mentioned it (some students were very religiouly oriented-always bothered the class and made me wonder why they even took this class). ------------------------- Mysterie -What do you get with white hair and a bottle of purple dye? .... a VERY angry 2000 year old vampire. mysterie@b....... / yohkomano@c....... http://www.fortunecity.com/tatooine/canaveral/53/foreverknight/ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Jun 2000 12:22:30 +0000 From: Kristin <kris1228@s.......> Subject: Blitz for the Knight Day 2; Reminders It's day 2 of the Feedback Blitz!!
