>We will meet in the morning at the next con, Jill. Me without my
>cigarettes, you without your Diet Coke... and we shall cry piteously in
>each other's arms and mourn our great loss.

And why do I have visions of all our dear friends in FK plunking themselves
right down next to us and puffing away/drinking DC all morning? <VBEG>

Thanks to Bea Q for volunteering to count the letters/telegrams/etc. This
way we can <know> our impact, to some extent.

And-- goddess forbid we get some kind of smarmy announcement from TPTB at
USA today, KEEP RIGHT ON WRITING. Even with an announcement, we have a
little bit more time to make a difference and we need to USE IT.

This is NOT over. Not yet.

I think we should be prepared for an announcement from USA today. Then we
do two things.

One, I agree with Jill that we keep writing/FAXing to USA.

Two, we redouble our efforts on the local affiliates. TriStar sold them a
full season of "Forever Knight." They're going to have to do something to
make up for that (probably offer them something else) if they halt
production. We need to convince the affiliates that that's not acceptable,
that we want those last 6 and therefore the affiliates want those last 6,
and therefore TriStar has to produce them.

I certainly don't want to put the cast and crew under any undue stress if
the episodes are as JP described in his Xmas eve note. But in a way that
would be very liberating for them--they could do all kinds of weird
character stuff.

All good things must end, that much is a fact. But not like this.

Hey, Hey Guys :)

>But what if people want to make *cash* donations to PAF at ARISIA?
>Wouldn't that be a headache (legally and/or logistically?)?
I've talked to several people about this.

First, I don't think we have enough manpower there to take and log
in cash donations. Besides that, taking cash for these types of
things is how people get into trouble, so I'd rather we keep cash
donations to an extreme minimum.

Second, if we have flyers and such with my address to send the
donation to and someone manning a table, they could take a check if
someone wanted to leave one right then and then forward it to me,
or the donater could forward the check to me directly via mail.

As always, I am open to suggestions, but I think it's up to the
people who are going to be at ARISIA to decide whether or not they
want to do anything with the charity end.

Yes, it sounds like "Sons of Belial." At the very beginning of the episode,
the woman who later turned out to have been possessed (or thought she was,
anyway) committed suicide by driving her car off of an unfinished highway.

Since I don't smoke or drink Diet Coke, both of those resolutions are out. And

Hi everyone:
Been writing those letters diligently. Let's see. I'll vow to watch any
aviation program of my husband's choice for the next month if we save our
show (he's a private pilot). And I also just might give up some of my
computer time at home to allow him to play EVEN MORE DOOM II on the modem
with his friends. I guess it's the least I can do since he's been so
helpful, albeit amused at my fervor over a TV show. All that writing,
FedExing, donating, and general talking up of the show that he has done
along with me should count for something. Did I really just promise all
that and cc him a copy? I'm frightened already!!!

I mean, occupational safety and health is what I *do* -- and the movie

Hi All,

My resolution is sort of simple...

If we pull this one out, I'll sit down at least once a month and send out
five letters thanking the various powers that be for keeping this show on
the air. It's what I should have been doing all along, maybe we wouldn't
have found ourselves fighting tooth and nail now.

Cheers,
Ngaire

Hi,
TP81Kilo a2 AOL was nice enough to mail me a file with the list of
AOL members who are known to be FK fans, I managed to get through the C's
last night in a mass mailing,I think it has over 200 entries. I don't
know where he/she got it,but I'm "mucking" my way through that too!

Subject: Mr. Showbiz and FK

In the process of visiting one of my favorite sites just now I was surprised
to find FK referenced on Mr. Showbiz's list of "Guilty Pleasures" for the
year in TV viewing. Rick Shultz writes: "The vampire detective who uses his
supernatural powers to solve crimes was a spoke of the now-defunct CBS
late-night wheel. He's now managed to find fresh blood on the USA network."
Then there's a sort of creepy cutout of Ger's head sans neck right next to
the text.

I could e-mail Mr. Showbiz and let them in on our campaign, but this would
have to be handled very *carefully* because they tend to put a campy and
sarcastic twist on things. Maybe this Rick Schultz would be interested
since he's a fan. His bio states that he is a book editor for the LA Village
View and a freelance writer for publications such as the LA Times. Feedback
please, y'all.

Subject: Remember to stay positive!!!

Hi folks,
Due to the fact that I have now written everyone possible including
all the sponsors of the show (they are now sending me coupons for there
products - do I have to buy spam as a show of support of FK:-) ) talked
everyone know into writting and done everything else the web site suggests
doing - I was getting a bit down. I like to be doing something and once
that is done I begin to feel depressed:-(

So I thought others might be feeling the same as well!! So here is
my pep talk for the day!!
Last night I watched the 3rd ALIEN NATION movie on Fox. This was
the first show I ever worked my rear off to save, I mean I worked really
hard. I cried when I got cancelled because it only got one season before it
was cancelled and to be blunt ALIEN NATION was my favorite show of all time
with FK a really close 2nd (sorry but that's the truth:-).
My point here is not to remind us all of past idiot decisions by
networks, but to point out that even when the fat lady sings (as JP so
elegantly put it) things can still be brought back in one form or the other.
I never stopped writing Fox about ALIEN NATION - and it paid off (although I
think a change of management at Fox and AN exec. producers persistence had
alot to do with it as well - a hint to JP:-). If we maintain a postive
state of mind and keep writing USA and other all important parties we can
keep FK on the air.
I am not willing to believe that in some form we cannot keep FK on
the air. The return of a fan supported show like ALIEN NATION reminds me
that networks may be slow but they eventually pick up on the shows that
people, if not always numbers support.

Ok guys - there is my pep talk for the week as I go off to write more
letters etc. and beg other people to write as well, I can not believe what I
have had to promise to get these letter out. One person asked my to take
care of her child (I hate kids - but I am doing it this Friday) and another
asked me out on a date (I agreed - I kind of liked him already - but he
thought that my passion for FK was *cute* - not a promising begining!!) but
at some point there is going to be a limit to what I will do for FK. But I
have not reached that point yet- and I hope no one else has yet either -
because I am *positive* we can get what we want if we all stay together (no
internal bickering) and keep a postive thoughts!!!!!

Subject: vamp sighting and email

Hi all,

Just a short note to let you know that I'm on the list again after being
unceremoniously kicked off due to my email adress being disabled. My old
address was dgrodzi@e........ My NEW AND IMPROVED address is
trudgett@feseb.org OR dtrudget@a....... (either one).

I wanted to let you guys know that I watched Johnny Mnemonic yesterday
and I swear that that cute Vietnamese vampire from Can't Run, Can't Hide
was on it. Actually, only the first 5 minutes or so, but there he was (Im
pretty sure it was him, but he had these awful glasses on, and the
lighting was dim, etc.). So enjoy (and apologies if it's been posted before.

I also am wondering about cons--is there a DOW this winter? And where is
Arisia? You can email me privately. Thanks!!

I must say that I'm truly impressed with what people were willing to give
up for Forever Knight. It's taken me quite a while to come up with some
suitable "resolutions."

First, I will second Ngaire's resolution to write some letters to TPTB
every month praising FK.

The second resolution is a *REAL* sacrifice. Right up there with praising
the virtues of Tracy Vetter.

I...uh...will learn the Texas A&M fight song... AND SING IT IN PUBLIC AT
THE NEXT TEXAS AREA FK PARTY.

Gag!!!

For those of you unaware of the legendary rivalry between the University of
Texas and Texas A&M, this is an unheard-of voluntary sacrifice from an
orange-blooded Texas Longhorn! Such things usually occur only during hazing
events and after lost bets -- both painful events :-).

Gulp. I can't believe I promised this.
