Subject: Re: RL being real - update So sorry to hear the news about your mom. She will be in my thoughts and prayers for her recovery and for your family. God bless her and take care of her. My sister, who had planned to come here for Christmas on Thursday, was able to change her flight. She arrived yesterday evening. At that time, my mother was very bad: she had had a stroke in the wee hours of Tuesday, all down her right side. Flo was really tired after the flight; so we decided, therefore, to wait overnight so she could spend time with my mother today. After which, we'd tell the doctors to turn off life support. However, this morning we got a call: my mother had woken up, and was responsive when spoken to (though not able to speak). Her functions seem to be a bit better, and they've now taken the breathing tube out. However, she is still desperately weak--and, of course, there are the consequences of the stroke. So the doctors are trying to prepare us, since they think it is likely there may be another "crisis" (i.e. stroke, probably). Basically, instead of a sad decision today, we are in a wait-and-see situation. It's probably going to be a "long goodbye"; but ... hope springs eternal. (Or at least until the worst happens and there's no hope.) Thank you to everyone for your kind wishes. I really appreciate it.
