After she gathered all the proofs and documentation that proved that there was a mistake on the official document she was told to go and get the information notarized. I went with her. I remember before they notarized the documents she was asked to put her hand on the bible and swear that the information she was giving was the truth, so help her God. That of course was back in the days when we weren't being quite so consciencious about different religions. In regard to Nick. In the third season , there is a scene where Nick tops or completes various biblical quotations. Proving he had and could read the bible. My question is was his reaction to this bible caused by his knowledge he was going to lie or was it because of its use a more consecrated bible. At the beginning of the trial, the judge or JP may ask you and the other witnesses to leave the courtroom. Each witness will re-enter alone when he is called to testify. Excluding witnesses in this way allows them to testify from their own memory without being influenced by other witnesses’ testimonies. After their testimonies, the witnesses are allowed to attend the remainder of the trial. Before giving evidence, witnesses must swear to tell to truth by taking an oath on the Bible or by making an affirmation. When asked if you promise to tell the truth, you should answer "I do." The lawyer who asked you to appear (usually your own lawyer) will question you first. The lawyer for the other side will then cross-examine you. Your lawyer will then be allowed to redirect on issues raised in cross-examination. --- Margie Hammet <treeleaf@i.......> wrote: > >Date: Tue, 15 May 2007 02:03:48 -0400 > >From: gwatson2 <gwatson2@r.......> > > > >I know that the U.S. has a Bill of Rights; but I > don't know its details. > >Doesn't it guarantee freedom of conscience? > > Kristen Fife, Author http://writersweekend.com - Spend a Passionate Weekend With Your Muse ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 May 2007 20:21:10 -0700 From: "Lynn L. If you are going to be sworn in to testify and don't want to use the word "God" there is a separate oath you can take. It is no big deal here. I wonder if that scene was put in this ep for dramatic effect. There is a "new" show for next season. "Moonlight"--it is about a p.i. who happens to be a vampire, oh, he is in love with a mortal woman. Gee, does that sound familar?
