FK Season 3 DVD's on Amazon..........SALE!?!? I often wondered about the investigation afterwards. Putting aside for a minute the missing body, the police wouldn't have left it there. The press would have been all over them wanting to know who this hero was who had been killed saving people's lives. And although they couldn't find any ID on him or thanks to the pipe bomb identify his remains either by his face or fingerprints, they would have definitely asked the people in the store for a description of him. They'd get something. We know Nick was in no shape to mess with their memories for period of time at least. They'd get something. Yeah, and perhaps the store had a closed-circuit TV camera--there could be visual evidence of his heroics. So probably Eddie's version of events was scrambled, and either 1) the explosive was not a pipe bomb, or 2) the incident was not a simple gang robbery, of the "Fatal Mistake" convenience store type that leaps to mind. Today, we usually think of pipe bombs as IEDs in Iraq. Circa 1990-1991, the time of the "Only the Lonely" flashback, what were they generally used for? I speculate that this would have been a robbery in which the perpetrators were trying to blow open something with the pipe bomb -- a safe? a locked door? an armored car? As you say, they would not likely have had an explosive of this type without a specific use for it, and that use would help reveal what Nick was doing at the time. (Alternatively, the gang could just include an explosives nut, but that's probably not as productive a story scenario.) Thinking of Eddie's relation of the unseen pipe-bomb incident, I'm reminded that Eddie knew he delivered the body to Natalie, and then someone else phoned and she confirmed the body's arrival. The chain of evidence custody ends with her. Then the body went missing. And whoever was on the other end of that phone line, and the detectives assigned to the case, and the prosecutor -- oh, no one was going to be happy with this. Since Nick tried to leave her hypnotized, he must have given her a hypnotic suggestion of how to cover it up ... mustn't he? (He wouldn't leave her hanging like he did Schanke in "If Looks Could Kill," would he? Even there, he says he will "eventually" help Schanke reconcile memory and fact; he seems to be playing a prank, because of how Schanke made fun of the guard Dr. Jurgen whammied.) In any case, that's another unseen and fraught pivotal moment this brings to mind: Natalie's very first vampire cover-up. I wonder if that could be paralleled with Tracy's experience? That is, I wonder if perhaps that memory leapt to Natalie's mind the first time she heard Tracy prevaricate to cover her knowledge of vampires, and what Natalie might have felt if it did. ~ Amy R., Knightie akr@l....... However, pipe bombs are not any good for these purposes. They basically are cylinders stuffed with explosive materials and projectiles such as nails or ball bearings, with some sort of detonator triggered by movement. For example, a few years ago, a guy was terrorizing rural residents in Iowa and Minnesota by rigging pipe bombs in their roadside mailboxes. These bombs went off when they were removed from the mailbox. Because it's not a shaped charge (configured to explode in a narrow, directed manner) a pipe bomb's capacity to blow anything open that is armored is fairly limited unless it's so powerful that it also destroys whatever is being protected. > doing at the time. (Alternatively, the gang could just include an > explosives nut, but that's probably not as productive a > story scenario.) It may not be a productive story scenario, but honestly, that's the only reason I can think of a gang having one on hand. > I'm reminded that Eddie knew he delivered the body to Natalie, and > then someone else phoned and she confirmed the body's arrival. I can't help wondering if this is Natalie's first coverup. She loses a body. Oops. So maybe she manages the old John Doe unclaimed pauper switcheroo, and one less body goes to Potter's Field. It wouldn't be easy, but perhaps if you know the system well enough it could be managed. It just occurred to me, although we don't actually know how fast the FK vampires can fly/move, we do know they can move faster than the eye can see. That being the case, what happens to the brain/mind when someone is brought across? For a vampire to move across the room in the blink of an eye, they surely have to be aware of their movement every step of the way? Which means their mind has to be working at a far greater speed than that of mortals. Of course, I am assuming that they are actually moving through space, due to the 'whoosh' sound when they do move that fast, and not via teleportation (for want of a better word!). (And Some GOOD News!) ............... (Morning all, BTW <g>) as of yesterday were UNDER ***30.00*** for the set, for anyone who has not gotten them yet. Seasons 1 & 2 are still in the high 40's. I was waiting for an opportunity to get them at a lower price, and woohoo, I was fooling around (testing my computer after a memory upgrade & some new drives--a couple ROMs died <argh>), and, WOW, there it was! (Please beg pardon, as I know some folks will get this more than once, also if you are not a Forever Knight fan and are getting a BCC--then your're getting it as an "Update" for the good news part...). Anyhow, I am probably not the first person to know this, but being on a limited income, I needed a really good price & I got one. Thought I would share, just in case anyone else still needed them. They seem to have reduced the price on a number of things; when I went to my "Wish List," the prices had gone down drastically on quite a few things. GOOD NEWS: My Social Security Disability went through as of January 12, and I am being paid from MAY 1st, not August (<--when I applied). My fighting for recognition of my year 2000 income was worth it, as it bumped up my benefit amount. They still have not "fixed" 2005, but it is in process. Hooray; I do not have to file an appeal. It still is not enough to support the whole household, but it makes a HECK of a dent in what is needed. Thanks to all for prayers, good thoughts and the like--they obviously worked. God Bless you all indeed. I have a *very* long way to recover from my (it-turned-out-to-be) tremendously complicated left shoulder surgery, am NOT allowed to drive to lack of reflexes in my left arm, hand and shoulder (plus other issues, that's enough, though <g>), am now "dependent" on even more meds than I care to think about (makes me MAD, MAD, MAD), have little electronic devices ("TENS" and some other ones) to help with shoulder and "other places" pain----yada, yada, yada. Lots of Rehab left, and I am NOT allowed to work. I am **absolutely** making progress, yes, and it sure is nice to be able to raise my left arm in the air, WOOHOO <g>. Still have the Mental Health stuff (mine) going on, but I am working very hard on everything. I have the worst case of Cabin Fever, even though I go out for PT, and even other stuff, whoo, let me tell you. OK, rant over, LOL!! So, back to my *point,* I splurged and got FK Season 3 on DVD (plus a couple of other things on my Amazon Wish List <g>).
