better Nat than a vampire. At least she's alive.

I have another hypothesis. Actually I have two.

a) Janette meant she couldn't control herself when she tried to bring MEN
across. Every boytoy she's tried to immortalize ... oops. sorry, Sven! (in
poor taste - sorry ...) But women? they slip her mind.

b) She brought the Baroness across and then left town, and was unaware until
now that she was still alive. To believe this we'd have to believe that the
psychic bond between maker and creation requires the kind of nurturing
through close attention and unpredictable brutality that LC gave Nick for
the first few centuries.

or c) (still my favourite) when they wrote ILCK they forgot that Janette had
claimed she'd never brought anyone across. oops ...

Because everything in the episode implies Janette.

I think the Star Trek & X-Files writers run into the same problem - a
dedicated fan base that knows the episodes much better than they do, I mean
...

Good Evening/Morning All,

Coming out of the woodwork momentarily, gosh, I had to check my "saved" mail
to do this, why has the List been so quiet........

Well anyhow, I shall endeavor to be somewhat on-topic and then go back to
lurking (can't bear to write a hundred separate emails <sigh> and sorry if
this offends anyone, that is NOT my intention).......

Dear Sydney Lambert, (<--hope I spelled that right)

Hello there Sydney. I meant to write to you sooner, but I never took the
time, shame on me! I am a cat lover, and you are one of my favorite cats
since you live in one of my favorite worlds, the world of Forever Knight!

I just wanted to tell you that I wish you could have met my cat Dakota. She
would have been **20** in September. I know how much you mean to Natalie,
and Dakota meant just as much to me. Dakota passed away in my arms on the
way to the Vet tonight. It was calm and peaceful for her. Don't feel bad,
Sydney, she will be all right up there at the Rainbow Bridge. And so will I,
down here on Earth.

BTW, Sydney, Dakota thought you were a cat among cats :>) and so do I !!!!

Forever Yours,

another episode guide as "Stalker Moon" --

Episode #113
Case #76-3139 "The Undead"
Case #56-9135 "Stalker Moon"

Case #56-9135
"Stalker Moon"
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

"Jackie Kinley, star of a cult film who's attempting a
comeback, is terrified to find she is being stalked by
Corben Dean, a crazed fan supposedly serving a
five-year prison sentence for attempting to murder
her. Dean mysteriously vanishes - only to later appear
in the middle of a road in front of Kinley's speeding
car. Yet rather than striking and killing Dean, Kinley
passes through him.

"Investigating this freak occurrence, the O.S.I.R.
learns that Dean's pathological passion for Kinley had
been obsessive and violent. He'd watched her cult
classic endlessly and stolen props from it.
Ultimately, his obsession with Kinley earned him five
years in prison for aggravated assault and attempted
murder. But Case Manager Connor Doyle also discovers
that Dean was released from prison early after
suffering a heart attack and assumed to be dead. Doyle
and the Agent Lindsay Donner track Dean's last known
address and, at the trailer park, find a new resident:
R. K. Kelly. Thinking they've reached an impasse in
their investigation, the O.S.I.R. gets a break when
they uncover a collection of memorabilia from Kinley's
old movie in the trailer and that the resident knows
where Kinley is now filming.

"The O.S.I.R. reach a troubling contradiction. The
weakened Dean might impossibly still be alive and
actively relaunching his pursuit. Or Kinley is
receiving a telepathic signal and, in turn, is casting
it into Dean's apparition - allowing her obsessive fan
to pursue her from the grave."

Or did Nat see being brought across - or Nick's willingness to bring someone
across - as an act of love? Sort of "If you really loved me, you'd make
this sacrifice for me, even though I know that you think being a vampire is
the worst thing on earth." After all, Nat has sacrificed a lot for Nick -
and he hasn't shown much in the way of sacrifice in return. He doesn't take
the vitamins, he doesn't drink the protein shakes, for the most part he
doesn't stop drinking blood. So I can see why she would want him to show
her some consideration occasionally.

Interesting question - does it count? I mean, since FK
centered on Nick Knight, of course he had to deal with the
guest-neck-of-the-week thing and dedicate sufficient time
to bimbo biting/smooching, leaving Natalie feeling lonely
and often jealous. {Wait - wasn't he doing the same thing
to LaCroix, too?}

I admit it: sometimes I wondered why Natalie didn't just grab
Nick by the ears and smooch him skillfully - at least enough to
knock his shoes off. You know, just once in awhile, when he
wasn't expecting it. Then back to work, as if nothing had
happened. What stopped her - shyness? fear of rejection?
fear of the vampire? fear of desiring the vampire? the garlic
toast she had with dinner?

The episode in which Nick was so jealous {was it "Be My
Valentine" or something? I can't remember exactly} was
hysterical. Such a hoot to see Mr. Cool coming apart at the
seams because Nat's seeing someone else. {Although - let's
be honest: who could EVER measure up to our hero? Quite
impossible.}

I guess the answer to the first question is that it CAN'T be
considered infidelity because Nick and Nat didn't do any, um,
fideling (?) in the first place. Yikes! This is too weird.
I'm suddenly very sleepy. Goodnight all!

Nat's been working alone in the morgue for days with little or no
rest. I think her actions in AMPH can be attributed to exhaustion.
(Frankly, I'd buy the idea that that entire episode was somebody's
bad dream--how quickly the world got tidied up after all those
riots!)

> <snip> Then there's the time she asks him to

Nat doesn't actually ask Nick to bring her across. She says that she
trusts him, that she's not afraid of an eternity in darkness "as long
as I spend it with you." This could simply be her attempt to reassure
him that she's not afraid of what will happen if he brings her across
unintentionally.

The speech in LK suggests he is unwilling to take the chance that it's an
"empty box."
His grim reference to "tortured souls" echoes what he says to Nick in AMPH
about the existence of "something greater than both [mankind and vampires]"
I think third-season LC was inclined to believe that if God exists, "It" had
to be either completely indifferent or actively malicious to "create such
perversity", and that any afterlife would reflect that.

That said, he does express disappointment at the end of AMPH that Divia was
right about being eternal. So there are apparently times when he, too,
thinks of relief from "this incessant pain."

As to his love of life.... He certainly loves the taste of life he gets from
the blood of mortals.... One of the problems for me with that last speech is
that LC sounds more like a human than a vampire.... The ripe-peach metaphor
is flawed, because we know that food isn't just useless to them, it's
revolting.

to be a part...

We are sending a beautiful box of Silk Roses to Bonnie Hammer At Sci-fi on
behalf of the fans, and to go along with that in the package will be
print-outs of e-mails from you!!

Any Forever Knight fan, who loves this fang-tastic show, please sign this
post answering the following valentine question...
"I love Forever Knight, and would love it to return with the original cast,
because..."
http://www.scifi.com/bboard/browse.cgi/1/5/2061
If you can't sign there send along your e-mails to: SField8067@a.......

On Global 100 FK and GWD are doing quite well! Forever Knight is now #9 on
the charts (though it did drop from #5 this month, make sure you keep on
voting monthly)

To vote for FK go here: http://www.global100.com/item.asp?Item=51259

And GWD's climbed to #12 on Male Stars! To vote for FK's star monthly go
here: http://www.global100.com/item.asp?Item=100306&Page=1

Remember, these accurate charts are printed out and sent to important powers
that be, so please show your support!

The blitz of course is also still going on...

This entire month we are focusing on three powers that be, Tristar, Sci-fi,
and TNT!
A lot of FK fans have wondered why we don't approach other networks about
possibly reviving the series. Well, we will continue to include TNT, and of
course Sci-fi and Tristar.

E-mail: tnt@t.......
(and place in the subject line: "To The Attention Of The Vice-President of
Programming")

You also may call TNT's Viewer Comment and Question Line at (404) 885-4538,
however we ask that any phone calls be in addition to letters and e-mails.

For snail mail, send to:
Vice-President of Programming
TNT 1010 Techwood Drive, NW
Atlanta, GA 30318

Its going to be a big dose of e-mails from each of you the fans that would
love to not only have FK back on Sci-fi's schedule, but want to make sure
everyone knows that we are want more FK with the original cast in new
episodes and or movies!! So, what do you say? Are you ready to sit down,
take that few minutes and send off three e-mails? It could make all the
difference in the world!

Remember, say a little or say a lot, but say it!! We can make more FK
happen!!!

For the "whole" month of November, we are asking everyone to blitz the
feedbacks!!! For the month, you can re-use the e-mails you did before, or
write new ones. They can be long, or as short as just saying, "Bring Back
Forever Knight."

Important info to add in your letters: During this current blitz, we could
ask that an upcoming "SCIography" ep feature FK! So far, they plan to do eps
on "Battlestar Galactica", "Quantum Leap" and "Sliders", so asking them if
they plan to do a "SCIography" ep about FK can't hurt.

Also, Sci-Fi is airing "Sci-Fi World", which is a 6 hour block of sci-fi
programs with a different theme each day. It's also possible to ask them if
FK will be a part of the "Sci-Fi World" programming block!

ALSO REMEMBER!! Sci-fi will be changing its schedule around again soon....
lets make sure that we get Forever Knight on!!!

Sci-Fi's E-mail: feedback@w.......

Sony/Tristar Mail Form: http://www.spe.sony.com/spe/help_feedback_index.html

When e-mailing TriStar,(especially) give as much personal info as you
can...rather than just an e-mail name. A bit more personal carries more
weight with TPTB.

ALSO: Remember to post a message for the Valentine Bboard saying why you
love FK and want to see it return to Sci-fi.

http://www.scifi.com/bboard/browse.cgi/1/5/2061

There's also a button, I made, which you can post on your websites to spread
the word about the blitzes. Have it link to my "save fk" page.

Subject: Re: Last Knight

The lurker in me wasn't going to add anything to this discussion about the
ending of LK but I ended up watching it for fanfic help and came up with
another angle that we probably discussed ages ago and I just wasn't paying
attention but c'est la vie.

Compare Last Knight and Curiouser & Curiouser. Both employ strange camera
angles, wonderful voice-overs by Lacroix and lots of guilt on Nick's pov.
Very little of C&C was "reality". Nick's guilt drove him to an alternate
reality where he could work out the guilt that was overwhelming him at the
time. Nick's guilt in C&C was caused by his carelessness as a vampire in the
mortal world. C&C's alternate reality even ended with Lacroix offering to
stake Nick.

Now, back to LK. It begins with Lacroix's voice-over. The camera angles are
not traditional. Tramatically, Nick is careless with his vampirism and puts
Tracey in the line of fire (Ignore the fact he doesn't know Tracey is
standing behind him.) Nat's just not herself. Nick can easily bring Tracey
across but won't consider bringing Nat over. The show ends with Lacroix
standing over Nick with a stake.

It's NOT real. (Follow along . . .I'm almost done.) In Black Buddah, Nick
lost Schanke. He was ready to pack it all up and leave town. But he felt
guilty. Insert Last Knight. Nick is trying to rationalize an ending to his
relationship with Nat (so he can leave town.) Tracey was never Nick's
partner she was nothing more than a guilt/grief induced hulicination (no
flames please). Lacroix was standing over Nick with a stake much like he did
in C&C. The stake crashes . . . "Damn you, Nicholas." Reality returns.
Nick accepts that it wasn't his fault that Schanke and Cohen are dead.
Lacroix forces Nick to leave town with him because Lacroix is sick and tired
of the 6 month guilt tune-up that Nick requires because of his stupid
mortality quest. All is happy. Natalie is alive and well and working with
the vampire community to keep the enforcers happy. Janette is on a buying
spree in Europe. Vachon and Screed are sub-letting Nick's Toronto apartment
via Felix. Lacroix is keeping Nick close at hand to prevent another debacle
like their trip to Toronto.

Writer's block is a strange creature. I still can't fix the story I'm
working on but I can re-end the entire series. go figure.

Doesn't mean it isn't a dream, but we do clean up REALLY quickly here in
Canada after riots--you'd be amazed! It's only the ensuing court battles
that take days-weeks-years-decades. ('For me, pepper, I put it on my plate.'

What confounded me about AMPH was the lack of duplication of the claims. It
seems to me that it would take more than a very few people saying the world
was ending before a majority began to *really* believe it.

You know, I'm glad you said that! I haven't seen LK since it was last aired on
Sci Fi, so I have to rely on memory. I never had the impression that she wanted
him to bring her across at that point, and so have always felt a little unsure
when I hear the argument that he ignored her wishes -- I never perceived that
when I watched it.

Hi Emily,

<<If you had a chance to actually _be_ one of the
characters, who would you prefer to be, and who would
you most likely end up being?>>

Probably Vachon, him being the one I had the most in
common with. Being Spanish myself, it was cool to have
a Spanish vampire on the show. I'm guessing the
character was created for the slacker/grunge rock
crowd that was coming up at the time, and my attitude
in my twenties was similarly James Dean-meets-Humphrey
Bogart-ish.

Hi Marel,

<<Especially since his failure was occasioned by such
a shabby weakness: his greed. Even his affection for
Natalie wasn't strong enough to prevent him from
taking too much blood.>>

I'm wondering if, because of the erotic overtones of
putting the bite on somebody, that Nick wasn't able to
stop himself from taking too much blood because once
you get going, it's er...hard to stop. It would've
been like a vampire's version of the rhythm method-not
very good odds. <lol>

Hi Cindy,

<<He [LaCroix] certainly didn't take a kinder, gentler
approach with Nick when he first arrived in Toronto.
<g>>

Then again, LaCroix's and Nick's occasional brawls
could've been an example of jockish behavior. Neither
one had to worry about winning a hand to hand fight
with a mortal, so they went at it with each other
because nobody else could present much of a challenge.
A little knock down/drag out for old times' sake, for
the good ol' days when they were soldiers and could be
hurt or killed in battle. Remember that In DK, Nick
delivered the knock-out with a metal stake, then
walked away, which Nick should've known wouldn't kill
LaCroix. In fact, LaCroix had to remind him of that
when he faced him again, later. This would tie in on
just how good a teacher/father LaCroix was, because
while maybe bringing someone across requires a certain
amount of skill, passing along the info of what can or
can't kill a vampire should've been one of Nick's
first lessons, and would've always been at the
forefront of Nick's mind.

Vicki; i like your ending better. I always felt that that Nick 7 Natalie were
2 people who were not in their right minds after the deaths of close friends.
They were desperate, and desperate people often do not think before acting. My
ending , Lacroix regrets his actions, calls 911 and they are saved, leave Toronto
as Nick is mortal and can no longer take bullets and live. Just my thoughts.

Hi Sandra,

<<If they had had Nick regain his mortality, I think
it might have been more interesting if they left
things up in the air some after that.>>

I agree. FK was always irony rich, Nick's good
deeds/intentions coming at a terrible price. Better
what we got, than something like, Nick regains his
mortality, then gets shot to death while cornering
some hood in a dark alley or something. The ending
then might've been LaCroix avenging him, then
questioning his own desire to continue. Either way,
it's the norm for series' that are ending, but that
still have a fertile fan base, to leave some kind of
opening for a comeback. Think "Twin Peaks" (another
one of my faves that got the kiss of death). I think
that the powers that be behind shows like FK are
almost aways cruel that way. They'll make it known
that they've gotten all the petitions, that they're
trying their best to save the show, then they'll drop
the ax anyway. I think they do it just to encourage
the highest possible viewership for the last few
episodes, knowing all along there's just no saving it.
Okay, maybe I'm bitter. <lol>

As for Nick needing to be punished-that I have to
agree with, just because for Nick, being sorry just
wasn't enough. He had to make ammends for eight
hundred years of putting the bite on people too. There
would've been no way for him to resolve that, ever,
because the ghosts of his victims could never accept
the apology. I think Nick deliberately chose the
hardest way of seeking forgiveness, just because it
was also the most futile. Though it would've been
interesting to have had an episode where Nick at least
tried to get forgiveness through the church. To have
attempted making confession.

Question: with all this talk of Nick and Nat being
together in a happy afterlife, how does that work with
the episode that had that vamp ladyfriend of Nick's
who committed suicide by sitting on a park bench at
dawn, because she felt she was no longer contributing
to life. That ep implied that there was this other
level that vampires go to-a kind of limbo-where
they're alone. Now that lady vamp (apologies that I
can never get character names/titles straight, though
I think Nick kept a doll as a memento of her) was a
"good" person, there would've been no reason that she
couldn't get into a nice, vampire heaven, but instead,
she wound up in this purgatory-like place, begging
Nick to join her there and end her lonliness. How
would Nick have been able to bypass that place and
stay with Nat in this happy afterlife that we'd all
want for them?

Subject: Child In Time

Hi all,

Once again I'm thinking about two Fk episodes that I
can't remember the titles of, but the first dealt with
Nick's flashback of taking in a teenage boy, till the
boy discovered Nick's stable of bodice rippers, and
the second is the ep where Nat slapped an attorney for
getting a child killer off (always thought that ep had
CDs finest Fk performance. The way she says "He should
be dead" would've had LaCroix seeing her potential as
a vampire right there, IMHO and her anguish at having
to perform an autopsy on a little girl [her niece?])
was absolutely believable-you want to break down
watching it).

The ep with the stable implied that either Nick or
LaCroix had to kill the kid, since when Nat asked what
happened to him, Nick doesn't give an answer, and if
he'd just whammied the boy, he would've just come out
and said so. However, in the episode with the child
killer, we get Nat in full Sigorney Weaver/"Aliens"
mode, and her views on anyone that harms children are
perfectly clear: no mercy and let God deal with the
insanity defense. So how do you think Nat let Nick off
the hook over the implied killing of Nick's "adopted"
child. Thoughts?
