I am simply relating a YKYBWTMFK incident. My best friend and I were discussing FK and "insert unmentionable vampire show name here" because my friend, being unfailingly objective about everything was trying to convince me to give the UVS a chance when out of the blue my six year old spouts, "Mommy, why does he (meaning Julian Luna) look like Mickey Mouse?" Both my friend and I exchanged a shocked look and then began to giggle uncontrollably as we both realized that she was absolutely right. Round head, smooth black hair with prominent widows peak. Now, I have a six year old that doesn't like FK (I think they switched babies in the hospital, or something.) She can't stand anything SciFi. (Goosebumps is too intense for her) But she knows I love this kind of stuff, and the other day she comes into the room while I'm watching Quantum Leap (Yes, I do get the Sci-Fi channel, Thank God), and she says, "Mom, First X-files, and now this?" When I first joined forkni-l, it took me a couple of days to find a FAQ, and a couple of weeks to figure out that there was a separate spoiler list. The FAQ that I did find was so long that it was difficult to extract the essential rules. On many mailing lists, a welcome message is automatically sent to new subscribers. It would be great if the short list of rules (the one that was posted yesterday) along with a short description of the other lists (fkspoilr and fkfic-l) were in such a message. Is that a sorry excuse or wha? Standard is more like it. I've been trying to get my local TCI to get SFC for about 4 years. However, until they get their fiberoptic cable in, they don't have room. Flaws in this theory: 1. They were supposed to have the cables in 2 years ago. The deadline's now been bumped to 1998. 2. In the past 4 months, they've added: the TCI channel (90% Fundamentalist), a 100% Fundamentalist channel, Intro, and The Learning Channel (the latter two are only available on the side of town where I'm not). Within the past year they've added a pay channel (STARZ), which my parents subscribed to (they show "In the Mouth of Madness" and "The Shadow" sometimes, tho, which is good). There will probably also be more new channels on the other side of Tulsa. There may have been another Fundamentalist channel added recently, but I don't really remember (you'd think one would suffice. But, no, I have to live in one of the most censervative areas of the Bible Belt...) 3. Tulsa has a PHENOMENALLY large sf/fantasy/horror population, so you'd think SFC would be a top priority. Nope. But we have at least two Country tv stations, not to mention 4 or 5 music stations (only one classical, mope). No, I'm not happy about TCI's annoying behaviour. BTW: Is anyone interested in getting an FK TCI war page (for SFC, of course)? We have had an offer from a group in Dallas to let us have one for free; they're on the same mission. This is the second time I've posted about it. If you'd be interested, mail me off-list, with TCI in the subject line. I need input as to what would go up. Did she appear in present day or just the flashbacks? Diva is LaCroix daughter. In A More Permanent Hell, Diva only appeared during the flashbacks. Diva looked like she was about 7-10 years old, but she seemed very sharp for a girl her age and had a very dark menacing quality about her. Whether or not she was this way prior to being brought across, is impossible to tell (it wasn't in the script). It was interesting to see LC back then (before Pompeii blew up). LC was cruel, mean, and vicious. It would be interesting to see how Diva turned out. My guess is she is more menacing than LaCroix. Cronologically, she has been a vampire longer than LaCroix. During the Mt. Vesuvius (sp) eruption, Diva asked LC if he wanted to live or die. LC choose to live and Diva brought him across. May be someone can answer my question who has seen more of season one and two than I have. Is Diva the first child vampire shown? Valerie Meachum compiled one by way of Janette-dating and that's the one the Sony folks 'borrowed' for their web page. For those people who are all trying to do timelines, I'll try to put y'all in contact with one another if you want. I have a feeling that in a couple of weeks web pages will be bulging with time lines. Sometimes the scripts are wrong or changed. It's a very good reason to work from as-produced scripts instead of shooting scripts. If I find out why "Fallen Idol" is listed as 1274 or why "Francesca" was changed from 1745 to 1755, I'll let you know. I'm darned curious, myself. Do NOT take the list I sent out as gospel. It's basic hard copy information. Until we see as produced scripts and figure out conflicts within the episodes (and solve them to our own satisfaction), please feel free to hang on for dear life to your own particular version of FK history. Re: List Etiquette--because we have SO many people on list, we run the risk of innundating the innocent among us who wander blindly from the primrose path into forbidden and dangerous territory. Unless I'm specifically answering a post for another reason, I leave corrections of list rules to the list gods (Hi, Don!) and goddesses (Hi, Jamie, Hi Jaye). No matter how kindly, politely and technically accurate a corrective post may be, it kind of grates on the nerves when it turns out to the the fortieth or fiftieth post you've received in twenty minutes for doing something you didn't know you weren't supposed to do. (Whew. All those negatives are tiring.) Conversely, a corrective post is not, in and of itself, a flame. Posts that are condescending, personally belittling, and which demean yourself and your heritage ARE flames. Those people are BAD people. Pay them no mind. Posts that say- "Um . . . the list rules are--" --are NOT considered flames if politely worded. Although, like I've mentioned above, after several of them you want to strike out blindly at anyone who comes near you. In such a case, please be kind enough to have the highway patrol set up signal flares around you until things calm down. Our list people have been very busy. They are trying to institute new mechanical thingies that will make it easy for information to be given to new people as quickly as possible. And we will be having a LOT of people swarming about us like ravenous small-meat-eating-thingies (God, I've used thingy twice in two sentences--I've been spending too much time with the Nat-Pack) when the SciFi episodes start up in earnest. As someone very astutely noted recently, newbies, if they hang around, become staid and retiring list members who get set in their ways and who go into spasms of apoplexy when they sit down with their geritol for a quick read of the fiction list and find messages there, or spoilers on ForKni-L, or so forth. They forget that they were once young and foolish, posting blithely to new lists without lurking for a week or two to find out the rules and regulations, and tenor of the venue. In my first post on ForKni-L, I mentioned something about vampires that had nothing to do with FK. Honest. And I'd lurked, too. I could handle the fact that some people might be well-meaning but blunt in their corrective messages, or that some were having a bad day, or that others were seriously in need of bran or a humor-transplant. I made a boo-boo. I didn't make it again. And I feel great sympathy for those people who very obviously screw up accidentally and have to deal with the embarrassment after the fact. If you don't know whether or not you should post something or how to post something, ask another listmember or one of the list gods and goddeses in private e-mail. Most of us are nice people. Really. Other places it seems reversed.....Do I need to know something. "Francesca" aired in Denver last Saturday p.m./Sunday a.m.(May 4/5). We are expecting "Ashes to Ashes" this coming weekend. Do vampire > children ever grow up? According to the Anne Rice version of vampirism, child vamps mature mentally but never physically. This eventually causes them terrible frustration, as they remain somewhat weak and always need of an "adult" vampire to care for them. Supposedly, it is like an unspoken rule (among Rice's vampires) that children not be brought across. I didn't mean to be off-topic here, but remembered this issue from IWtV. As nearly as I remember, Divia was the only child-vampire in FK. [http://www.scifi.com] There was an area for feedback, so I thought I would drop them a nice little note letting them know how much I appreciated them carrying FK and also hoped they would be carrying the first two seasons of FK. The next day I received an e-mail from them letting me know that in the beginning of 1997, SCI-FI WILL be carrying the first two seasons. It sounds to me that they are serious about keeping FK alive even if it is in re-runs. So, if you're cruising down the informational highway, stop by SCI-FI's page and let them know how you feel. They really do listen. Back into the darkness I shall go! Linda {a Forever Knightie} {Linda.Edwards@r.......} ... I saw the last two, and wanted desparately to see the rest, but have yet to find them. Help?? Thanks.
