Welcome To The Second Meeting of FFFROG -- The Support Group for Grieving
Forever Knight Fans
I see that those of you who were at the first meeting have already found a
seat. Would our new members please pull up a large, comfy chair and join
us. Don't be shy. We all love you.
Jamie has once again provided, free of charge, the basic FFFROG survival
kit. It's in the bag under your chair, and contains a box of tissues (Puffs
Plus, the soft fluffy ones), a package of chocolate, a bottle of extremely
strong liquor, and copies of your five best list-related memories. All of
which has been carefully handpicked to support you in your time of mourning.
Let's all give Jamie a round of applause for putting aside her Merc
tendencies in these desperate times and giving us all the benefit of her
time and effort.
Today, we are going to think about what has brought us to FFFROG. I'd like
all of you to retrieve your free copy of the FFFROG twelve steps that Pat,
our lone Nanette, donated (they're shoved down the side of your chair,
between the cushion and the left arm). Now, let's all recite the steps in
unison and remind ourselves that we are not alone in our grief, and that we
are not powerless in the fight to save Forever Knight:
We, the Frantic Forever-knight Fans Releasing Our Grief, in attending
this meeting have:
1. Admitted that we have developed extreme affection for "Forever Knight".
2. Come to believe that through coordinated effort and devotion,
Forever Knight can and will be granted a reprieve from execution.
3. Decided to do everything in our power to save Forever Knight,
including seeking Divine Intervention.
4. Made a searching and fearless inquiry as to the methods of rescue
available.
5. Admitted to the Divine Power which we revere, to ourselves, and to
another human being, that we will "not go gentle into that good Knight" and
that we will "rage, rage, against the dying of the Knight."
6. Decided that we are entirely ready to press the attack.
7. Humbly asked each other to pitch in, and try to save our show.
8. Made a list of all The Powers That Be that can be found, and have
written to them all.
9. Made direct efforts wherever possible to save our show.
10. Continued to evaluate and re-evaluate our battle strategies and made
adjustments when necessary.
11. Sought through prayer, meditation and careful thought the best ways
to save our show, praying only for knowledge of how to go about it
correctly, and the power to carry that out.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening, taken this message to all other
Forever Knight watchers, and spread the word to "Help save our show!"
Now everyone hug the person next to you.
Now everyone hug the other person next to you.
Now everyone, at the top of your lungs, repeat after me: THIS STINKS! WE
WILL NOT LET FOREVER KNIGHT DIE WITHOUT A FIGHT!
Go ahead, scream it again. Stomp your feet. Punch a pillow. Let it all
out. It's okay. We understand.
Now everyone hug your neighbours again.
Thank you. Here is Pat the lone Nanette with today's inspirational message:
"We have a hell of a show. We have a hell of a list. I have been proud to
know you all, in some way, and have burst with pride at the sheer number of
ideas that have been generated to save Forever Knight. You are all *very*
creative, and I have been privileged to follow in your footsteps. I have
done my best for this show, and will continue to do so. As one person so
boldly put it, "trying to chew through the fat lady's micro-phone cord" is
my aim. I didn't mean for this to turn into a pep talk, but that's partially
what FFFROG is about: reminding us why we're here. Now, take a moment out of
writing your letters, or whatever you are currently doing, to think of what
Forever Knight means to you and what Forever Knight has given to you. Got
it? Hold it in your heart. Make it burn bright. Now -- go out and DO IT."
Okay, everyone: big smile... c'mon, you can do it...
Now hug the person next to you.
Now hug the other person next to you.
Now let's go out and face the world fighting. Let's show USA, Sony,
Tri-Star, Paragon and all those TV stations just how much we love Forever
Knight.

Yes, you did, and we're going to hold you to it! <veg>
Since I'm going to hold you to your promise, I guess I should make one of my
own. If we pull this off, I will go to every sports event (even <yuck>
football) that my husband asks me to go to with him for three months from
the date of the announcement.
(BTW, I don't particularly like organized sports, and my husband is a
sports-nut who manages to get tickets to all sorts of professional games)

Hi Guys,
On a whim earlier this afternoon I forwarded a couple of Cynthia's press
realeases to Ian Punnet who does a radio show on WGN radio. He usually
reads his e-mail on the air,and I figured he would just read the press
release. Which to my surprise he did. But on top of that he had about a
fifteen minute interview with Ann Marie McKee Fitzgerald about what we're
doing to save the show!
It was good to hear your voice, Ann Marie.<G>
Lets hope it reached some of the FK fans who don't have computer access..:-)

I realize trying to save FK from cancellation is an important campaign
for us right now, but I would urge that, unless a message has a short
time frame for response, that people wait at least 24 hours to see if
their original message hits the list. I just logged on to find 166
messages (most from the FK lists) and more list messages are still
coming in. If the volume keeps up (or gets worse), I'm going to have
to go nomail on these lists and I really don't want to do that. I
don't mean to sound grumpy about this; surely other folks feel the
same?

Whew! Ok..its done! I was able to get Kay Koplovitz's address out to the
masses in Chicago. The DJ's name was Ian and he was very nice. The radio
station has an E-mail address over on AOL in the radio section. I would

Those of you that know me (and have seen me drink a 2 liter bottle in under
1 hour) know that my giving up Diet Coke is pretty darn serious. It's my
"habit," as it were. But for FK, I'd do it (and drink water, like I'm
SUPPOSED to do).
It'd be worth it. WELL worth it. And y'all heard it right here. I may
never be able to face mornings at a con again.

Dear All,
I just heard from a source of mine (suddenly everybody knows somebody hehe)
that tomorrow is the day USA drops the axe. He said also that "Any pitches to
USA would have to been done by now." I wish we could have done the charity
thing today, but lets hope that the letter we sent made the difference! Can
we do anything that will arrive tomorrow?
YKYB etc.. when you're driving along and freak out when you see signs with
arrows pointing in the direction you're headed that say "Uncle". I kid you
not. They kept pointing up the road we were driving. Unfortunately, just as
we turned left, the arrows pointed right, and I was suddenly really curious
to find where Uncle was. It was probably a movie being shot there.
YKYB etc.. when you're at a crafts store and get really interested in the
fake lichen.

I got a reply to my letter to a sponer today.
It reads Suncoat motion picture compnay does not have input as to when
their commericals will air and with what show.
Your concern for this show cancelling would have to go through the
creator of the show and USA network.
I find that real interesting, isn't all the hype about cancellation of
show is their ratings is bad so that means no advertising, well then if
advertisers don't have any control over when there commercials air then
it is up to the networks to run their ads. This could only be with
Suncoast I do not know?
Another thing what good does it do to write advertisers anyway if they
have no control over when their ads are played?
I could be wrong about it maybe it only works this way with Suncoast
Motion Picture Co. Anyway it was nice to get a response to my letter I
hope it did some good.

As an attorney and assistant strategy person, I would like to
suggest a rider (an escape clause, like USA had) to this particular

Subject: Response from tv station
This past weekend, I sent e-mail to my local station that carries FK
syndicated, praising them for it. While visiting their home page, I noticed
that they provided links to the home pages of other shows that they carry.
So I suggested that they include a link to Jasmine's FK home page (not the
SaveFK home page). Here's the reply I received:

I read an article today that might provide an avenue for generating media
publicity for our Save FK campaign. It's included below for everyone's
interest, but I am also sending it privately to Laurie CF and Cynthia
Hoffman (I think they are the ones doing media events, right?).
The article is entitled "Adobe cosponsors cyberspace documentary," which I
copied from the January/February issue of Adobe Magazine.

On February 8, a team of more than 100 photojournalists will fan out
around the globe to document how online technology is changing people's
lives. The results will be transmitted to San Francisco, where a team of
editors, designers, and programmers will make them available immediately
over the World-Wide Web. At the same time, millions of people will be
invited to submit their own stories of how the digital revolution is
affecting their lives.
The project, which is sponsored by Adobe, Eastman Kodak Company, and Sun
Microsystems, Inc., is entitled, "24 Hours in Cyberspace." It's the work
of Rick Smolan and Against All Odds Productions, the team that producted
"A Day in the Life of America," "From Alice to Ocean," and "Passage to
Vietnem."
A permanent Web site is scheduled to be unveiled on March 15, featuring
more indepth stories, photo essays, and commentaries. In addition, a "24
Hours in Cyberspace" book and CD-ROM will follow in the fall of 1996.

Ruth Dempsey mentioned contacting "the Caramilla" (actually, that's
"Camarilla")--people who play Vampire: the Masquerade. Did anyone
post news of FK's troubles to alt.games.whitewolf newsgroup (I think
that's the name)? There are also mailing lists for various White
Wolf games--anyone on any? If not, maybe a query to the newsgroup
about at least a V:tM mailing list would net useful info for publicity
purposes. I can't post to newsgroups currently or I would.

Subject: Getting to the attention of "Entertainment Tonight", etc.
Switched back to digest, after using up all my free time from AOL in six
days, just picking up and sending FK-related mail, so things may be coming
through a little slower. I apologize if I'm duplicating someone. <G>
It just occurred to me, that one very successful job-hunting technique could
be applied to trying to vault ourselves into the "Entertainment Tonight"
spotlight; and by extension, getting us into more media circles.
When you have any media personage on the phone line, sitting across a desk
from you, or your email prisoner <VBG>; if they give you any form whatsoever
of "I can't help you" because of this, this, that, and the other--- **do not
leave their office** without asking, *"Is there anyone else you can think of
who might be interested in our story?"* Even if they haven't the available
column space, airtime, etc., or just plain old "don't think it's for them",
they might know someone who **does**. Don't leave until they give you the
name of *someone*, anyone. Each of them, if approached in the particular
way, will be flattered to rack their brains, because you are asking THEM for
advice, and *everyone* likes that.
If you're feeling particularly gutsy and the "interview", so to speak, has
gone well, you might also dare to mention, "By the way, 'Entertainment
Tonight' did a segment on the show's star recently and we think they might
find this of interest; do you have a name there that you can give us to use,
just as a contact person so that we know whom to send a press release?"
if we can't find someone, I guess we'll just have to send it off to any name
we can find in the hierarchy. Time's a-wasting. ;-) As Lynne Ackerman
reminded us recently, "ET" did a massive NATPE segment, and will probably do
so again this year.
