I have some very exciting news. I'm pregnant! I'm at 6 weeks currently and the nausea is kicking my butt lol. I'm hoping to find and buy the FK novels I once had, on Amazon. I never did finish them and they went up with my car back when that went on fire. Currently I will be attending Phoenix comicon this week :) My fandoms have spread out to Dr Who, Sherlock, to name a few, but I've always been a fan of Highlander, Star Trek and Star Wars. All of us on this list have undergone many life and possibly fandom changes, since this list was overly active. And, even though, I'm sure that most everyone is active on FaceBook, Twitter, Tumbler, etc., it would be nice to hear about what folks are up to these days. Of course, only what one is comfortable sharing in such a venue, but considering that today is "Unplug Day", perhaps such information could inspire more meet-ups in the "real" world. In the "old days", our gatherings were great fun, as I'm sure Greer's Wiki shows. So, to start the ball rolling. I'm still in Laboratory Medicine for a Level One Trauma Center. My fandoms have expanded to Highlander and Sherlock. Any one who might be attending 221B Con, in Atlanta, next month, I'll be there. I Meg (Inwe) have returned... and I have got news for you all... married now, and in law enforcement as a corrections officer. I started my husband on the first season of FK. He's not super big on vampires but has agreed to humor me and watch it. Time and money have largely forced me to GAFIATE from most active fandoms. I'm still a member of STARFLEET; our chapter will celebrate its 32nd anniversary next month (and I'm one of the founding members... doesn't that make one feel older than one should feel?) Sadly, I've not been able to go to renfaire since 2010, and from what I read, it appears my "home faire" has changed enough that I wouldn't recognize it. While I'm still interested in computers/technology, the professional fields have changed so much that the only place I can get a job is store-level retail (sales clerk), and there's nothing full-time to be had. My paid blogging stint ended back in August when the company I was blogging for was sold; the new owners are monetizing the existing content but not adding anything new (other than a change in the graphics). The Other Half is still working at a communications call center, and my sister is still living with us (and has been looking for a job for over four years, with apparently nothing to be had). That said, I've gotten more involved in our local computer club and run its Mobile Devices SIG. I'm currently in the process of updating the links to my slide decks for the presentations I've given there... I'm still a Red Rider for the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure; this year I'll be riding on June 4th (you can sponsor me at http://main.diabetes.org/goto/tmana ). When I don't have to work late, I still participate in the weekly #dsma (Diabetes Social Media Advocacy) chat on Twitter. Regarding media, I've followed Warehouse 13, Sanctuary, Eureka, Haven, Grimm, and Sleepy Hollow through their entire runs. I loved Forever, wish it had been renewed, but am comfortable with how the season/series ended. I wasn't nearly as happy with what turned out to be the last episode of Limitless. I got into Stargate SG-1 at about season 4 or 5, and followed it and its spin-offs (Stargate: Atlantis and Stargate: Universe) to their ends. I'm currently following Lucifer, though it is beginning to get a bit convoluted -- ditto Arrow and The Flash. Loved the denouement of Season 4 of Blacklist and wondering what's going to happen next season. I found Blindspot's season finale more like a series finale, so it'll be interesting seeing how they're treating the premise of now being about two years ahead of "real" time... Got into NCIS some time during the Ziva years; we're currently following all three NCIS series. I'm half following Timeless. I got interested in Who with the Ninth Doctor and have been following straight along. I followed the spinoffs "Sarah Jane Chronicles" and "Torchwood" all the way through and find myself a bit of a John Barrowman fan for it. Also followed Merlin, and now following HUMANS (Eve Myles was Gwen on Torchwood and had a recurring role on Merlin; Colin Morgan played the title role of Merlin and plays Leo Elster in HUMANS.) I'm not sure how far I'll be following CLASS (another Who spinoff). In between I've taken the Wilton four-week classes at Michaels and now have quite a supply cabinet of cake decorating tools, though I've little opportunity to use them. I've also joined Ravelry and Love to Knit/Crochet, even though I don't do much of either of those other than drool over the patterns for garments I can't use (work requires a uniform), and yarns I can't afford. I think that's most of what's going on here. Brenda F. Bell webwarren@e....... I do follow some shows, but not many---Sherlock, Game of Thrones, Mystery Science Theatre 3000 and Doctor Who are about the only scripted shows I watch. I am also quite involved with the Gunroom, the email list for people who love Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin series of historical novels. That list is an amazing group of people from all over the world, from blue-water tall ship sailors to engineers to retired CIA spooks to an honest-to-god falconer, to name just a few. As part of the Gunroom, I attended "Master and Commander, a Weekend with Jack and Stephen" in Toronto last October, where most people, myself included, attended in Regency dress (think Jane Austen). We even had a ball with English country dancing and historical meals. Too fun! My career as a technical writer is humming along nicely---I was promoted to Senior Tech Writer and am now the team lead so I get to actually supervise things (a great outlet for my bossy nature <g>). The company is thriving and doing a lot of cutting-edge stuff in the workforce optimization industry, so it's always interesting and very fast-paced. I now have two lovely standard long-haired dachshunds (Morning Glory and Gigs) who rule my life, along with my Connemara Pony gelding (Devon Ridge Daegan O'Riley, known familiarly as Pony), and a recently-acquired blue betta fish named Alpha (Alpha Betta---couldn't resist that). They are all excellent listeners, and the dachshunds are superb snugglers. Pony is, well, a pony, and as such has the condition known as "pony brain"---smart, snarky, and very opinionated. Give him an inch and he'll try to take 500 miles. It's a good thing he's very cute, that makes up for a lot of his shenanigans. I travel a bit---I just returned home from a long-planned 2.5 weeks in Italy, hiking in Tuscany mostly, with days also spent in Rome and Florence. It was oh, so beautiful! I went there with Mary Chamberlain, who I met through FK and who was a long-time member of the list. Other than work and critters, I am doing some heavy-duty gardening right now, building new raised beds in my backyard (I love the look, it's the moving the black dirt from the driveway to the backyard that is hot and heavy work. But I'm almost done with that, thankfully.) I keep busy in the local horse community and I'm a member of a dachshund Meetup group. My extended family is increasing with the arrival of several grand nieces and nephews. In general, Life is Good. First, happy 25th Forever Knight Anniversary. Our first episode aired May 5, 1992. I wish we all still had the wherewithal to put together a con reunion. Fandom wise - Forever Knight still holds the 'most participation' award. Currently, I'm trying to learn German and have imported seasons 1 and 2 from Germany. It's a great new way to enjoy the show. Gotham gets most of my love these days. Any Gotham fans on the list can actually see me in season 3 as Jerome's (aka The Joker) official curtain puller in episodes 13 and 14. Agents of Shield is also high on the list. Lucifer is great fun. And I've become more involved in the Dark Shadows fandom, which is still roaring strong. I have a friend who makes fun of me, "they did make tv shows after the 90s, so you know." I'm currently watching my way through Highlander. ;) Next week, said friend and I leave for a few days in Stratford. It will be my first time seeing Nigel Bennett live on stage. Poor guy is going get a small handful of Forever Knight, 'can you sign this for me?' requests. I've been living in NY for nearly 12 years now, I'm still a professional body piercer, writer, have a band, and occasionally do background work for tv. Two fluffy black cats, one named Raven though she came with that name pre-applied. All in all life is good. Anyone who wants to connect on other media can find me with a quick search of my last name.
