My condolences to everyone who knew her personally and those of us who knew her on-list. The two Bonnies are (are!) one of my favorite things about this list. I have laughed a tremendous amount over the years with your fictional antics and non-fictional wit. A sad day. Every fanfiction I've written since 2000 exists because of her input, encouragement, and wit. He loved Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies (shocker :) ) and she'd pop a cookie in his mouth whenever he wanted one. It's just an adorable picture I think of regarding those two. If heaven exists, Greg and Bonnie-Kate are sharing thin mints, she has her beloved dog Brand back, and she's knitting the angels sweaters. Bonns' death was sudden. Nov. 23rd would have been her birthday. It took me a while from the time I found out before I could write it, so I'm sorry about that. In terms of obituary stuff, I believe one of Bonnie's coworkers started a memorial/tribute page at http://www.forevermissed.com/bonnie-hagstrom/#about Her obit is to be printed in hardcopy in the Dec 4th San Fran Chronicle. The online version is at http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/sfgate/obituary.aspx?pid=176711535 Allison, I don't even know what to say about fanfic. For me, she was the One True Bonnie. Bonnie Pardoe posted long before me on the lists. She was The Bonnie Who Dared Cut Vachon's Hair in War 7. Then, she became my friend. I know we've been confusing the hell out of people for ages, but she was the Bonnie I looked up to, one of the peeps whose list posts gave me the courage to delurk and take part in the fandom and unleash millions of words later. And what a screaming fine ride it was. <3 Love, Bonnie Rutledge ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Dec 2015 01:07:38 -0500 From: Brenda Bell <webwarren@e.......> Subject: Re: Bonnie Pardoe News At 23:09 12/1/2015, Bonnie Rutledge wrote: >Bonns' death was sudden. I kind of doubt that any of us are *real life* vampires or immortals or... >It took me a while from the time I found out before I could write >it, so I'm sorry about that. That's not unusual with sudden deaths of good friends, especially when they're not of the advanced age when you expect they "could go at any time" (i.e., some time *after* one's mid-eighties, unless one is obviously deteriorating at some time before that). (Then again, for what it's worth, while I'm able to process the *numerical value* of my age (55), it's hard for me to process that it means I'm starting to become eligible for "senior" discounts. And I REFUSE to accept my doctor's assessment that our bodies normally begin to deteriorate at that age.) Certainly, Bonnie's passing is a great loss for FK fandom. Brenda F. Bell webwarren@e....... I was wondering if that was a default birth year on the site and the creator didn't know her age. She definitely looked younger than she was, though, so that's at least in keeping with it the idea of, as they say in FK, 'time for moving on.' Subject: Re: Bonnie Pardoe News I so dislike seeing the word 'news' in the re box. Mainly because it is generally the passing of a FK family member. WE seem to be losing our best friends and Bonnie was most differently one of our best. She will be sooo missed. I wish I had know her as personally as brutledge. Bonnie will be missed. God bless and keep you in Her care. Now Bonnie is Forever.with the Knight. KnightWitch. ;-[= In a message dated 12/1/2015 4:01:47 P.M. Although I never met Bonnie, she was part of each of the Wars in which I have played; and her contribution was memorable, indeed. I first met her war persona as The Cousinly Receptionist, connoisseur of post-it notes. However, last time, she and Bonnie Rutledge wrote together as independents, and created an incredibly long, wackily memorable tribute to Greg Kramer that I adored. Late last summer, Bonnie and I had a fascinating discussion about the history of her websites. She had recently taken down her fan fiction, since she was looking for a new job. ("a lot of it is NSFW", as she put it.) She did say that she thought she'd be putting most of it back up eventually. A little while later, I came across a few of her stories on the Wayback Machine. It turned out that these were some of the ones that she'd lost in a computer crash. At least she was able to read them once more before she died. I'm glad of that. After she posted her most recent fic, she told me that she hoped that there might be another war ("next year sometime - after the holidays"). Sadly, if we do play again, she won't be there with us.
