If something untowards happened in the last war, then we are all, of course,
very grateful to the two of you for taking care of it. The continued safety
of our lists is important to everyone.

Is the preparation and behind the scenes stuff so very onerous nowadays?
Last war--which was so delightful!--did not require that either you or Don
pick a premise (for there *was* no official premise); nor did you need to
make a war site or archive the stories, or anything of that sort.

You *did*, of course, field all the permission slips.

Then again, not being one of the listowners, I don't know all the other
behind-the-scenes things that the two of you have to do. Is there any way
that we can help out? I would be honoured to offer any assistance you might
find useful.

Oh, dear. :(

I'm so sorry to hear you say this: wars have been on FKFIC-L since time
immemorial (so to speak). It's not only what people expect; but it's such a
habit that I fear people will have trouble adjusting to doing it
differently. Since so few people are active on list at all nowadays, that
has to be taken as a real concern.

I still hope we *do* have another war. (Wherever and whenever.) At this
point, I've played in only three of them; and I'm far from burned out!

Yes, I forgot to say that. Thank you for remembering. I believe other fan
names may also have been slipped into that last episode.

As for Natalie, does anyone watch the Good Witch movie series, starring
Catherine Bell and Chris Potter? Catherine Disher has a supporting role. She
has gained an awful lot of weight.

As I recall, Lora was immortalized in Last Knight as Natalie's friend who
committed suicide at the beginning of the episode.

this report. I hope this list is still active. My personal email:

Ms. Lora Haines, recently of Leominster, MA, passed away unexpectedly Sunday,
January 18, 2015, of complications from pneumonia. She was 63.

She came down with pneumonia in September 2014. She spent time in various
hospitals in Massachusetts. She would get better and go home, then the
pneumonia would come back. Most recently she was sent to U Mass Memorial
Hospital, in Worcester, MA. Early Sunday morning at the hospital she reported
she could not breathe. She passed out, she hemorrhaged out, and that was that.
We may never find out the root cause of her illness.

Lora was president of the Forever Knight Fan Club in the 1990s, when the club
put on two Dead of Winter conventions dedicated to Forever Knight. During part
of that time she was also captain of the Boston Star Trek Association. In
recent years she had scaled her fan activity way back. Too busy living.

Her estate and her, well, transition rituals are being managed by her sister
Czu. Send sympathy cards to:

Czigane Haines
[Address removed]

I am sure Czu does not want a flood of phone calls, but she is on Facebook.
Also the funeral home has offered to set up a remembrance page on line. I will
pass on those details.

Funeral arrangements have not been determined. Czu may do something private
now, and have a gathering of friends later. One close friend has suggested a
vampire-themed funeral, but Lori had moved beyond that stuff. Frankly I think
it would be in bad taste. (Then again, I am a notorious stuffed shirt.)

Please give this report the widest distribution. We want all of FK fandom to
know about Lori's sad fate. We want to hear from all of you.

I was Lori's boyfriend. I am not on Facebook, but you can email me.

P. S. I liked the third season. Bite me.
