I'm Riding to "Stop Diabetes" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Thu, 15 May 2014 08:43:41 -0400 From: Brenda Bell <webwarren@e.......> Subject: I'm Riding to "Stop Diabetes" For the fifth year, I'm riding the Tour de Cure to support the American Diabetes Association. As you may know, I've been living with diabetes since 2002. While my diabetes is still fairly well-controlled, I have many friends and colleagues who wish they could say the same thing -- some within our own fan community. Finding a cure and better treatments is of utmost importance to them as well as to me. It is for this reason that I ride the Tour de Cure. I am riding as a Red Rider, someone who rides with diabetes. Having diabetes can be difficult at times. There are highs and lows, quite literally. But behind every person with diabetes, there is (or should be) an amazing support system. Not just doctors and nurses, but friends, family, and significant others who help us with the neverending task of diabetes management. Participating in Tour shows me that beyond my own support system there are thousands of compassionate people dedicated to fighting diabetes by riding and raising money as a community. Each year I ride the Tour, I meet more people who are touched by diabetes and who are ready, willing, and able to fight towards stopping this chronic condition. Today, I am asking you to join my fight. Will you make a donation in support of my efforts? With your help, I am supporting the programs that the American Diabetes Association provides for millions of people like myself. Ultimately our goal is to prevent and cure diabetes for good! You can support me by clicking on the link at the bottom of this email to make a donation. Your generosity would mean so much to me! ------------------------------ End of FORKNI-L Digest - 14 May 2014 to 15 May 2014 (#2014-70) **************************************************************
