Sent: Tuesday, November 12, 2013 3:54 PM Subject: WAR: Celebrations for 1st war anniversary Since McLisa says she's fine with people posting potential war premises, let me sketch mine out. Our first premise is simple: everyone is coming to Toronto for a big celebration of the 20th anniversary of the first war. So for a couple of days we play with that. People arrive, the venue (Casa Loma?) is hired, etc. Then suddenly.... Some players would suddenly be absolutely *certain* that they belonged to a different faction. (I have devised a whole little apparatus to "explain" this, which would be limited to the first and last posts, just to open and close things.) Now this would be voluntary. In all factions, there are bound to be some people who want to remain "normal". People who are in tiny factions-of-one would probably want to stick with their original choice. Independents, of course, make up their own minds. Who changes (and into what) would be worked out within each faction, depending on what sort of ideas they think will be fun. Three rules: 1. The switch can *not* be to one of the other factions officially playing. (Knighties can't become Vaqueras, Perks can't become Cousins, etc.) 2. You'd still be playing with the faction you signed up for. 3. No one can be "whammied" back to normal. Ideas? Well, in some factions, people might think it fun to play Dark off Light. Or they might want to bring up old subfactions, fractions, couple factions etc. (e.g. the Twilight Knighties, the Nunkies Anonymous, the UF). Then there are factions for friendly characters (e.g., for the Vaqs, someone might suddenly be certain she was really an Urchin or an INCArnate.) There are old factions we never see any more (like the FoDs and NatPack). There are even factions that *never* played war. (What if some old hand thought she was a new-to-war Cross-stitcher?) Personally? I'd leave Don and Ron the Enforcer to duke it out over the Die-Hards. *My* scrambled brain would be convinced that I was a Feliksity. (Yes, *any* other faction, even the newly invented ones.) Meanwhile.... While coping with this sudden confusion in the ranks, everyone would still remember that we're getting ready for the 20th anniversary bash. So that would be going on, too. Just before the final weekend, the factions are finally returned to normal. And we party. (Anyway, that's my idea.) Subject: WAR: Celebrations for 1st war anniversary Since Greer sent thru her premise, here is the short version of mine: Nick finds what seems to be a ransom note for Schanke and for his own reasons decides to investigate Schanke's apparent kidnapping (along with his family). The ransom note is screwy in that the ransom isn't demanding money but, instead, it's a list of random, mostly useless items. In fact, it reminds him of a scavenger hunt. So Nick divides up a copy of the list of items and asks us to search for as many of the items on the list as we can while he pursues his search for Schanke himself. So fkwar participants can choose whatever humorous, useless, strange, etc items that they want to write themselves searching for. And if you prefer to just hang out at your HQ with your friends thats ok too. This premise is just an excuse to get everyone to Toronto to enjoy the fun. Not sure I'd have time to play (I haven't since War 11), but as far as I know, the Fiendish Glow is still at the corner of Cactus Court and Luminescent Lane, with an underground entrance to the Metro. And there are still sub-levels that are unexplored, though any of us Celtic Glow-Worm types who end up down there during War end up glowing so brightly that everyone ELSE thinks we're human fireflies (though in distinctly different colors)... The Vampbear is still around (_Nicolas de Bearbant_ is in storage somewhere, but that wouldn't stop his character from appearing). He's a bit of a one-bear faction himself (Food! Fresh food, live from the neck! Two bottles are NOT enough!)... There should be one of those NA character questionnaire forms from him, from waybackwhen, floating around somewhere (I think on the Fiendish Glow site). > 1. The switch can *not* be to one of the other factions officially >playing. (Knighties can't become Vaqueras, Perks can't become Cousins, >etc.) Now you're suggesting we have a limited number of factions to start out? Or are you looking to keep it to the single-character factions and Die-Hards, leaving out the THING factions (e.g. Caddywhacks, See-Thru Knighties) and so on... >...Or they might want to bring up old subfactions, fractions, couple >factions etc. (e.g. the Twilight Knighties, the Nunkies Anonymous, the UF). The couple of Wars in which I played, NA and UF were pretty major factions, WARring independently of the Cousins. >...There are even factions that *never* played war.
