Seems to me it would work better to use the sign from the Raven, or a screenshot of the interior when Janette was there. The paint roller is a really cute idea, though. Now if I could just get a picture of LaCroix wielding it! As it happens, there's a list of faction names, the "Affiliations FAQ", that was compiled by Meredith and posted in May 1996. It's preserved on Mr. Happy's site. This is a very long list, supposedly complete at the time. Certainly, it even includes a number of joke factions that were current on list, as well as names that were proposed for new third-season factions--names that weren't adopted, I mean. (Mind you, it doesn't preserve similar unadopted names from earlier years.) Of the three faction names I asked about, the Nevermores *are* mentioned in the Affiliations FAQ. Interestingly, that is the one that that you remember, too. Meredith describes the faction as "controversial". Indeed, I gather from a comment on the Dreamwidth version of my blog that that is a bit of an understatement! So I've added a bit about that to the wiki article on the Nevermores. It explains why the faction was also described as "short-lived", I guess. On the other hand, the Deniers and Redecorators are *not* mentioned in the Affiliations FAQ. I found those names on another supposedly complete faction list--one that is certainly very long, but was compiled much later. Now, one would think that, if people were using the terms "Deniers" and "Redecorators" as faction names, they would have been familiar in 1995-1996. I mean, both terms relate directly to controversies were current at that time; so one would expect the names to come from then, too. People would have put them in their sigs. (Having said that, though, the list doesn't mention the Thong Throng, either; and that was a current joke faction at the time, and certainly mentioned in both posts and sigs. So who knows?) "Redecorators" were supposed to be fans who disliked LaCroix's version of the Raven. It seems an odd name. After all, his was the "redecorated' version of the club. One would think a faction that hated what he did with it would call themselves the "Un-redecorators", wouldn't you?
