Back when we were having a lot of discussions on list, we'd watch an episode when it aired and then discuss it for about a week on the list until the next one aired. If you do it that way, then everyone doesn't have to be available at the same time. Margie makes a good point. Ah, the good ol' days when I would be inundated with posts about that week's episode! This time around - It's spoiler free! Well, maybe for some but there are some newbies out there who haven't watched all the eps. Becky The (tired) Bouncin' Cousin snbcsinger@g....... There's no way I would be able to participate in that way. I work 3rd shift and sadly, social networking - which here includes IRC Chat - is strictly prohibited. It's best to keep the discussion on the main list. Becky The Bouncin' Cousin snbcsinger@g....... "You don't believe in Vampires?" "No. But I do keep their hours." How about two weeks from now? (Which, now I come to think of it, will bring us into June. Where May went, I don't know; but we're already halfway through.) My vote would be to have the discussion on list. Then people can read the comments and respond when they have time. I know that I personally like to have a chance to think about what other people have said, and then write back at some length (with a chance to re-read before I hit "Send"). Also, the list needs some love. Starting with "Dark Knight" makes sense to me. As for what to talk about: well, apart from everything else, I know that I'd be intrigued to hear from people who saw the episode when it was first aired. I missed almost all of season one, and only caught it in reruns when it came on Showcase in 1997. Can anyone recall what their first reactions to "Dark Knight" were--way back when FK was a brand new show, and they'd never seen Nick, Nat, and LaCroix before? (Not that that's the only thing to discuss, of course.) Or four? (Time flies!) However, only a handful of people took part. I'm pretty sure this is when I lead the Virtual Syndication in 2007-2009. We went through the entire series from Dark Knight Part 1 to Last Knight. We started with the "scheduled discussion" spaced a week apart on Tuesday, so folks would have a weekend to try to rewatch the episode...and moved up to a two week between episodes as folks were having trouble keeping up. We just used the main list for discussion at that time. Active participants were not numerous, but I had fun and I there was some good discussion. Hi Greer, I did send this, which of course never posted to list: " if June is best for everyone, then I'll wait! :-)" Having said this, I'm not aware of any US holidays in May but you got me curious: I just done Googling: nothing! Since the new Google changes, I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I can't find much of anything on a search. Is that Mother's Day? *****So, to recap what I think I understand so far: We start with Dark Knight E01/S01 We start in June (date TBD...?) We discuss it on the list We do it on a Saturday *****What's up in the air: Suggested date by Greer: June 8th, works for me. What about everyone? Discuss on Saturday or watch on Saturday? Do we watch both parts of Dark Knight and count it as one episode or just part 1? Margie suggested we all watch the episode on the same day like in 1992, and then discuss it throughout the week as opposed to my proposal of: we gather to discuss the show on a Saturday that we have watched whenever we could fit it the Sun to Friday prior to that. Someone else, suggested my same proposal as well. So that's 2 + 1 different proposals. What works for everyone else here? What makes more sense? As you said, Greer, it can't be like 1992 because we don't have the urgency of a fixed air date. It might be hard for everyone to watch at the same time but let's see what everyone else wants here. Does it make more sense to discuss it on a Saturday? I mean if we have no given time to watch the show, and no given time to discuss it, it's going to be rather uncoordinated and hard to keep up when it's time to watch the next but maybe I'm missing something, hence the purpose of this email is to figure out what you guys want. Please keep in mind the dates given here below are for illustration only, as I've stated above date is "up in the air" and I'm questioning what you guys want it to be. So another recap: Otto's proposal #1: "Between Sat. June 1st and Fri. June 7th, please watch Dark Knight part 1 (or would that be parts 1 & 2??) at your leisure and then let's get together Saturday June 8th to discuss." Margie's proposal #2: "Let's all watch the episode on Saturday June 8th and discuss it between Sat June 8th and Fri. June 14 at your leisure." With proposal #2 we have more days to discuss, I like that but does "watching on the same Saturday" work for everyone? Or is there a proposal #3? Please note: Otto likes Margie's proposal and Otto is happy to go along with whatever the rest of the list decides. Otto just summing things up here in the hopes to clarify things. Otto (done using the 3rd person). ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 May 2013 15:18:54 -0400 From: Jeannie <nickismom1228@a.......> Subject: Re: Like it's 1992..? - How to proceed?
