The Cousins War list is fkcousinswar, on yahoogroups.com. If you
have trouble getting to it, let me know off-list and I'll send you an
invite. That would, of course, apply to anyone else who would like
to get to that list.

Thanks for sending this Jean. It's nice to know some of the history of the
fandom. I wasn't around join the online FK fandom until 1998, and then it
was the UF. It took me a year or so before I had the courage to join the
main list. I'd heard about the high mail volume there was at the time.
I'm so glad I did.

I'm fairly sure I don't have an original of this document, but I still /do/
have the fanzine it was printed in, Forever Net #1, September 1993. I really
think someone should transcribe this entire fanzine to electronic format if
it hasn't been done already.

Jean, this story deserves to be added to the wiki pages on FORKNI-L. (If
you don't mind.) However, there are still more questions unanswered, you
know.

This is the insemination of the egg, so to speak. How did the embryo grow?
The first members were added by you; but how did you get the word out? How
busy was the list in those early, early days? The show was still only
partway through its first season at this point: how many members did it
have by season's end (i.e. March)?

Also, you were an undergraduate. Were there any complications when you
graduated? I mean, I know student websites normally disappear when their
owner is not longer on the university's books. Clearly, though, *we're*
still here!

I know I found the list by doing a search for Forever Knight on the web
right after Ashes To Ashes. That was the first episode I saw when I was
channel surfing one night. I was excited about finding a show I liked. I
then ran into Last Knight and I knew where that was going just by the
title. That irritated me to no end. I then joined the list and lurked for
over a year before I made my first post. Forkni-l was the first list I
had ever joined. I ran into FK on the scifi channel and wonder if that is
where I found the directions on how to join. I can't remember more than
that. Of course in January 1999 is when I started hosting the FTP site.

Thank's for the link. It was quite interesting and helpful. I have never
compared side by side the German and International DVD -releases and to tell
the truth, I have watched only some episodes from the German DVD's.

Yours sincerely

the cast at Dead of Winter. The conversation I remember having with them was
it was only three episodes and the cast said no more.

Are you out there? This is McLisa, needing to ask you something.

Subject: How I got word of the list

I had joined Vampyres@guvm (no longer with us) a few weeks earlier. The
web as we know it was just beginning, so I couldn't find any information
other than a couple of references to Ger in a book my library had on the
Stratford Festival. I figured that if anybody knew anything, it would be a
list devoted to vampire fandom in general. One day -- I think it was the
same day Jean created the list -- a Vampyres member posted that Forkni-l
had just been created. I subbed and that was that.

Thank you, Jean, all over again!

McLisa
