Subject: War: How long will we talk?
Naia asked: About how long are we talking before this new War?
Until we have a consensus, and and there is no time limit. Last time I
think I made a mistake in starting too soon. I also wonder if we need a
definite ending time established. This used to be an urgent necessity when
Fkfic-l was a very high volume list, but with posting limits per poster and
no automatic archive at PSU, it may no longer be necessary.
So let's get going on when. Remember, if it has to be that long, we can
hold off until after New Year. (I can't believe how late in 2012 it is
already!)
How long should it last?

So far Don and I've only had two war premises, and those were several
months ago.
Don't be shy. You only need to tell me and Don. I'm mclisa1014@g.......,
and I can pass it to Don if needed. A premise can be as simple as "We all
get into bathing suits, this being an all ages list, <g> and mud wrestle
the characters" to a detailed step by step plan for FK world denomination.
Preferably the idea will be funny, because even if it isn't, the things
that happen will be.
Please note that if the idea of being war mistress or war master worries
you, you can have as many colleagues as you like. By custom, the WM
identities are concealed under accounts taken up for the occasion. If you
don't mind being known, that's ok too.
My next post will be about a couple of ideas for war in general which I've
had.

I'd say you just tag it as war, since that's what it's related to.
There isn't really any role-playing outside of War… and we can't use RP
as a tag because of the Rat Pack. Any suggestions?

Subject: War: Back to our roots?
The first couple of wars began unexpectedly for the lists in general with a
surprise event. We can't do that now because we need to have permissions
on file for anyone who's going to play, even if it's just to be written
about. This is because PSU almost got sued, years ago, about a non-war post
on FKfic-l which portrayed real people.
However, I'd like to see us get away from all attacks being organized by a
faction and carried out against another. Once upon a time, attacks were
just as normally made by one player against another, or against a
character. For example, I once had Nick hit on the head with a brick,
whereupon he thought he was Duncan from Highlander. So, what are your
opinions on loosening up? Factions could still go against faction, it just
wouldn't be the only way to play.
Attacks used not to need prior permission, If you sent in a permission
slip, you were agreeing to be attacked. I'd like to see that back.
In any case, I am going to insist that this time, it is not necessary to
be in a faction to play.
At first we didn't have the characters scheduled by their factions. If
LaCroix showed up in two places at once, for example, it might turn out
that the second was his good brother Lakbah (a reference to a second season
query on Forkni-l when the poster misunderstood Janette's French
pronunciation of the name and thought she said, "children of Lakbah."
Saves used to be half the fun.
So, let's discuss.

Subject: Yuletide nominations
So far, at least two people have nominated Forever Knight for the Yuletide
fanfic gift exchange, Foxy11814 and myself. Between us, we were able to
list eight characters. That means that anyone who is interested in asking
for FK in one of their prompts will be able to request a story about Nick,
Nat, Lacroix, Schanke, Tracy, Vachon, Cohen, and/or Feliks.
Yes, I know that quite a few characters got left out! But we were only
allowed to pick four each. Still, it covers most of the major characters,
and does give people a fair choice.
If anyone is interested, nominations are still open until the evening of
October 3rd.
