If you don't see what you expect to be there it may be due to the fact that some authors do not give me permission to post them. (yes I am a pack rat. I had to go back 2 computers ago.) Sent: Tuesday, August 21, 2012 10:09 PM Subject: [FORKNI-L] Sigs, and the things people put in them As I peruse old digests, posts to Yahoo! Groups, and the like, I keep coming across long, long sigs in which people declare their affiliation to everything under the sun. Sometimes they mention things that are clearly not FK. Sometimes they are clearly making jokes. Sometimes the references are utterly obscure. So here are few things I need help interpreting: 1. Carl Nicastro signed himself with (among other things): The Raven Club (Founder); FK: The Dark Ages (Founder); FKID; Ravennc. (NOTE: it's not the meaning of "Founder" that I don't get!) 2. Deb (on a post to the Dark Tower Yahoo!Group on 14 Mar 2003) includes the "Nuke-em's" in a list of factions. (Also, she included the Hidden Yankees, which are based on the Sons of Lilith series, whose factions April *assured* me were purely a joke and had no members. Well, for the sake of my sanity, I'm going to believe April on this!) 3. Molly/StormBorn sometimes included "Forum Fanatic" among the other affiliations in her sig. 4. At least once, Pat Witham signed herself "Knightie and D.O.B.". (It is not the "Knightie" that's the problem.) 5. And, at least once, Allison Percy signed herself "Froggie or Knightie??" (And it's *still* not the "Knightie" that's the problem!) No doubt there are more. However, that's quite enough to be getting on with. Looking at their website, though, I was struck by the fact that--although the front page makes it clear that the faction is for fans of *all* the props in the show--the inside pages are really a website for the CaddyWhackers. Well, there's no doubt the car has its fans! However, there are other objects of love in the series, too. I know there are fans of the skeleton in Natalie's office--at least fans enough to invent a faction name for themselves. Some costume items have caught the eye: LaCroix's sword pin, for example (though I suspect the reason the See-Through Knighties like that flimsy nightie of Nick's has more to do with the guy wearing it). Anyway, I've made a couple of icons for props that seem to be popular, and deserve factions at least as much as the others. (If there's any demand to add more, I'm certainly willing.) However, these icons are "blank" at the moment. I don't have names to put on them. 1. The first is an icon for a faction who love the fireplace in Nick's loft. Or maybe it's particularly that carved wooden dragon on the mantel. Either way, there's a faction icon waiting for the... [BLANK]. 2. The second is an icon for people who adore Schanke's duck lamp. Caught quite a few eyes, didn't it? Well, the [BLANK] have an icon, too. All they have to do is-- Fill in the blanks: Firelighters, Hearth-lovers, Dragon-strokers...? Duckies, Mallards, Duck-callers, Lamplighters...? Yes, you've got the idea. I can't post either icon without a name!
