Or maybe the written French is incorrect? Can anyone help? "Tonight your Nightcrawler is ruminating on friendship. I say a friend for life is a leech. Someone who bleeds you. There is no real or lasting friendship, and no one is to be trusted. Who will challenge me on this? Who does not believe that all friendships must sour, slowly, imperceptibly, comment les mains de la cloche." my translator says that means "How the hands of the bell" .... that does not make sense to me though. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Aug 2012 19:01:54 -0500 From: JM Freemon <jaciem87@g.......> Subject: Re: Another LaCroix / Nightcrawler speech question I'm not 100% certain, but IIRC from high school French class 25 years ago, I believe that phrase (or something close) is a French idiom that translates as "however tightly we cling". Hope that helps, jaciem Quoted text ----------------- comment les mains de la cloche." ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Aug 2012 23:33:08 -0400 From: Greer Watson <gwatson2@r.......> Subject: Dark Natties & NatVampCamp On Sunday, 19 April, I asked the list who the NatVampCamp and Dark Natties were. Of course, it may be that people are assuming that I've been overwhelmed with off-list e-mail. If so, let me assure you that's not so. Once again (sob!), you have forced me to do actual work. Or at least actual Googling. As a result, I discovered that Ainsley's FK Page (http://www.foreverknight.org/PleineLune/) gives only two factions for Natalie: the NatPack and Nat Vamp Camp. (Hmmmm...suggests DNP and NVC same thing). However, the Forever Knight Faction List's links page lists two "dark Nat" Yahoo! Groups: the DNP-L for the Dark NatPackers, and Forever Nat for the NatVampCamp. (Suggests they're *not* the same; but I know this faction list has had errors in it.) Ha! AngelofSnow's LJ has an entry from 2006 (http://angelofsnow.livejournal.com/17381.html) in which (among other things) she lists her factions. Both the Dark NatPack and the NatVampCamp are listed! If *one* individual claims membership in *both* factions, then they must be different! Conclusion: I need to make a NatVampCamp icon. (Unless told otherwise, I'm going to assume that "Dark Natties" is an early name for members of the Dark NatPack. No one seems to list both at the same time.) Groups, and the like, I keep coming across long, long sigs in which people declare their affiliation to everything under the sun. Sometimes they mention things that are clearly not FK. Sometimes they are clearly making jokes. Sometimes the references are utterly obscure. So here are few things I need help interpreting: 1. Carl Nicastro signed himself with (among other things): The Raven Club(Founder); FK: The Dark Ages (Founder); FKID; Ravennc. (NOTE: it's not the meaning of "Founder" that I don't get!) 2. Deb (on a post to the Dark Tower Yahoo!Group on 14 Mar 2003) includes the "Nuke-em's" in a list of factions. (Also, she included the Hidden Yankees, which are based on the Sons of Lilith series, whose factions April *assured* me were purely a joke and had no members. Well, for the sake of my sanity, I'm going to believe April on this!) 3. Molly/StormBorn sometimes included "Forum Fanatic" among the other affiliations in her sig. 4. At least once, Pat Witham signed herself "Knightie and D.O.B.". (It is not the "Knightie" that's the problem.) 5. And, at least once, Allison Percy signed herself "Froggie or Knightie??" (And it's *still* not the "Knightie" that's the problem!) No doubt there are more. However, that's quite enough to be getting on with.
