Well, okay. I can take a joke seriously. (Proof of which is the fact that the Thong Throng got an icon.) So here's your (serious) answer. I've made icons for joke factions, such as the Thong Throng and the Oops! Faction. However, these were running jokes on list over several months at least. Even though they lacked the appurtenances of "real" factions, they were familiar names--well, at least in their time. The idea of creating a faction for LaCroix's eyebrows--equally intended as an amusement--was born, lived, and ran out of steam in the course of a single day. If I hadn't raised the matter, no one would *ever* have remembered it, I'm sure. (Perilously few had even the slightest memory of the Thong Throng, if you recall; and that joke lasted a lot longer.) Add to this the fact that the point of the joke was the very *idea* of such a faction. People entertained themselves by spinning comic names for it: Furries, Fuzzies, Highbrows, Q-Tips. As a result, no one name was ever settled on. Indeed, no name was ever seconded, let alone voted on or a consensus declared. After all, the actual creation of a faction wasn't the point. (By contrast, at the very same time, there was a months long running argument over the best name for a Nick/LaCroix faction; but, for all that it remained unnamed for ages, people definitely wanted to create it.) Of course, it's true that I've made icons for a lot of very recently invented factions. And one could argue that very few such factioneered affiliations actually materialize: no one claims membership, no loops/lists/groups are formed. However, when one factioneers an affiliation for a character or pairing, one is (at least potentially) suggesting that there *might*--or even *should* --be such an affiliation. Indeed, in the heyday of the fandom, that's precisely how new factions did start. The Nanettes began with one member; so did the Dark Perks. Other people got intrigued: presto! faction! Rather more to the point than an "Eyebrow Faction" (which was a general desciption of its object, not its actual name) is the fact that there are *other* factions that people have suggested, from time to time, for far more likely subjects, some of which have even been seconded! Which brings me back to the Morgue Maniacs and the Unspeakables. Among others.
