Sadly, this is true. It's still the biggest archive of FK fan fiction, of
course--just as it was twelve years ago. However, as I understand, around
that time the owner, Mel Moser, became unable to continue actively updating
the site because of illness. For a while, some fans kept up a second
archive at http://www.fkfanfic2.com/index.php .

People always hoped that Mel's health would improve; and, briefly in 1996,
there were hopes that this was so. She announced that the big archive would
resume--and, maybe as a result, the second archive also closed down.
However, what Mel actually did was redo the site so that people would be
able to upload their stories themselves. Only *not* to the original
archive, but to a sort of annex. As the material was not being added to the
*big* collection, I don't think many people ever did put their stories up.

Instead, they either use their own websites, or their LJ and DW blogs, or
fanfiction.net--or, increasingly in recent years, the Archive of Our Own
(AO3) collection. Until last summer, Stephanie Kellerman was updating the
FTP site. (That's the oldest archive for FK fiction.) However, as far as I
know, she hasn't uploaded any new stories in quite a while. I guess, there
really is no *current* main archive for Forever Knight.

I hope to get back to archiving some again. I am sure I still have all
the stories that have been posted to the list that I haven't uploaded to
the site.. I also want to move it to the foreverknight.org site.

I thought I might just give people a bit of an update on how things are
going.

Over the long weekend (Victoria Day here in Canada), I temporarily stopped
the work I was doing on editing the Forever Knight websites from
FortuneCity. You see, I'd finally figured out a way to tell the people at
FanLore Wiki about its disappearance; and, as it turned out, no one there
had realized it was gone.
They immediately put together a spreadsheet with a long list of
fandoms, posted an urgent call for help, and told me that--as I'd brought it
to their attention--they were putting me in charge of the project (!)
        Eep.
Fortunately for my sanity, it didn't actually work like that. (In
fact, I think it was MorganDawn who did a lot of the organizing.) What
*did* happen, though, was that quite a large number of people rallied to the
call; and they all buzzed around, busily googling "FortuneCity" and their
favourite fandoms to find what sites had existed, and then adding them to
the ever-growing list. So, of course, I had to pitch in and help too.
The list of lost fan sites is now quite fat and full, though people
are still finding things to add. It means, though, that I've had a chance
to catch my breath. And *that* means that I've finally signed up for FK Fic
Fest.

Yes, it's that time again. Amy R. is running the FK ficathon
(http://fkficfest.livejournal.com/28562.html) for the third time; and, as
it's the twentieth anniversary of "Dark Knight", she's hoping for a bumper
crop of sign-ups--and, I think, she's been getting a bit worried. So far,
very few people have signed up, and the sign-up deadline is this Friday.
Of course, the truth is that people do tend to leave it to the last
minute, don't they? I've had it in mind for the last couple of weeks, and
simply been too busy to even *think* about what sort of story I want. In
the end, I asked partly for the same sort of things I did last year; but I
did also toss in something new.
If anyone else on ForKNI-L has been thinking of signing up, please
don't miss the deadline!

(As for editing the websites, I'll get back to that now things have
quietened down a bit.)
