Subject: A faction for Marian Blackwing?

At the moment, we have one vote for Wing Nuts (from Laurie of the Isles, who
proposed the name), and none for the Shamans (since, even though I proposed
the name, I decided to cast my vote elsewhere).

Which leaves us with Blackwing (and/or the Blackwings) and the
Marianettes--tied at four votes each.

Well, obviously I've been considering their iconography.

If people pick Blackwing, the raven knife will feature prominently.
However, I'm not sure what else to include--other than a picture of Marian,
of course, and the name of the faction. It would be nice to work in
something related to the raven myth we're told in the episode. However, the
obvious symbol, i.e. a raven, is tied up elsewhere. (I'm sure the
Ravenettes would agree!) Still, the raven knife itself is an obvious
choice, and will loom large in the icon, though there may be something else
in there as well.

The iconography of the Marianettes is also obvious: a marionette,
symbolizing Marian, suddenly inheriting powers she has no preparation or
education in how to use, overwhelmed by the power when she impulsively uses
it. The marionette mimics the figure in the shaman painting--the one that
Gary Blackwing hid the map behind, if you remember. (Guilt, here. The
images were so strong that I already tried them out, tucking the raven knife
into one of the corners. However, I'll scrap it and do the other icon if
the consensus is to pick Blackwing as the name for the faction.)

Are there any more votes?

Perhaps just a black feather. That would be appropriate for
    "Blackwing".

How about a marionette with its strings being cut
by the Raven knife? Even refences to Pinnocchio
    would be appropriate.

With all due respect, I'm totally confused. As has been noted by
other people, there never was a faction for Marian Blackwing, not even
in the heyday of the list (and that's my memory, and
I've been on the list since about 1994). Why are you making up a
faction that never existed and, let's face it, never will? I
don't get it. Doesn't that screw up the history of the
fandom?

Subject: Missing digests

I was late renewing my subscription to this list and missed digests 14, 15, and 16.
Could someone send them to me or direct me to a place I can find them?

Also, was any fiction posted to fkfic-l between Feb. 12 and Feb. 19?

Thanks.

Sandra, and anyone else who may be interested, the Forkni-L archives are at

http://knightwind1228.com/forkni.htm

As far as I know, there was only one story posted to Fkfic-L during February;
that was Greer Watson's "Diamonds...and a Girl's Best Friend," posted on
February 14.
