Fake "NB" Caught by Earthlink Spam-Catcher ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sat, 14 Jan 2012 12:49:35 -0500 From: Brenda Bell <webwarren@e.......> Subject: Fake "NB" Caught by Earthlink Spam-Catcher It's pretty safe to surmise that the message to which the following headers were attached did NOT come from Nigel Bennett. >From: Nigel Bennett via LinkedIn <member@l.......> >To: "webwarren-earthlink.net" <webwarren@e.......> >Subject: Nigel Bennett has sent you a message >Date: Jan 11, 2012 1:25 AM Umm, right. I've never connected to NB via LinkedIn -- not to mention, that the link I was supposed to click to "read this message in your browser" leads to an IP address somewhere in the Czech Republic. In the source code, NB's reply address is supposedly at the domain mail2congo.com -- which sounds equally implausible. Most of the time, the LinkedIn spambots use names that I'm not familiar with, or -- at a stretch -- names that could *possibly* be names of people I once knew years ago. This happens to be one of those rare cases where I recognized the name, considered it improbable, and had to give it a second look for grins and giggles. That said, knowing that some of us have been closer with FK actors and production crew than others, I figured it was worth forwarding on to the list. Brenda F. Bell webwarren@e.......
