I lost my Dad in November after fighting with hospitals, rehab centers, and nursing homes, for 7 months, following a sudden illness. My Mom was left on her own for the first time in 50 years, so we've had to work together to figure out things like medicaid and survivor's benefits from Dad's pensions and SS. I don't know what state (geographical) you're in, so I don't know if any of my experiences will be helpful, but I'd be willing to help with questions, if you think I can. Cindy Most people have minds like concrete: mixed up or permanently set. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Jan 2012 22:38:34 -0500 From: Brenda Bell <webwarren@e.......> Subject: Re: Prayer: Lost My Mom Saturday At 19:55 1/2/2012, you wrote: >I lost my Dad in November after fighting with hospitals, rehab centers, and >nursing homes, for 7 months, following a sudden illness. Sounds like a wearing battle... something my mother went through in the aftermath of complications surrounding *her* mother's triple bypass surgery in 1991. >My Mom was left on her own for the first time in 50 years, I know that feeling. Dad left Mom when I was in uni, and when I ended up "back home" because I didn't have a job upon graduation, I had the unusual task/opportunity of seeing my mother have to "grow up". It's weird, seeing your parents grow up... >so we've had to work together to figure out things like medicaid and >survivor's benefits from Dad's pensions and SS. Because Mom and Dad haven't been together in over 30 years, and Dad's been remarried for over 20 of those years, that's not an issue. Taking care of my sister, however, *is*. >I don't know what state (geographical) you're in, so I don't know if >any of my experiences will be helpful, but I'd be willing to help >with questions, if you think I can. I think I need a TARDIS and a legal method of doubling our household income. Brenda F. Bell webwarren@e....... The cause was more than sufficient. While i still have both my folks, I lost my older brother some time back, and I know how it can hurt.
