It's been like FOREVER since I was a part of FK War fun. The Enforcer would TOTALLY like to do this while he has the time due to RL unemployment! I love y'all - not tied to any particular faction these days - just happy to play with a team that can deal with a Vampire who isn't all emo about being a Vampire but is well-adjusted (well, as much as any vamp can be ;D in these times) and likes to hang out with cool folks! Coming from Texas to Toronto would be awesome now considering it's a hundred degrees in the shade down here right now (seriously - we are baking our buns!) and I could so use a vacation! Hugs to everyone o The List! The only reason I know how long it's been since the last War is because of my dear sweet "War Baby." ^_^ He's 5 1/2 already! I remember an FK gathering in... Milwaukee? I think it was... Met Nancy a couple of years now in Minneapolis when I go to MarsCon every spring, and Jamie and Stephanie and a couple of other fans at Dragon*Con over the years. Never made it to Toronto Trek (which was also a place where you could sometimes see the FK actors and crew). I do remember Laurie Salopek, my successor as listowner, once gathering a few folks and going to one of the Toronto events (I think it was one of the Treks) and bringing me back signed photos of John and Ger, and Nigel had also signed Ger's picture too). Sadly, I no longer have that photo, but just two years ago, I got something even better... http://pics.livejournal.com/druidsfire/pic/00917bbs/g1248 It was a day to remember, certainly. One of these days, I'll get back up to Stratford. There's this lovely Scottish shop on the main drag I need to raid again too... Waltzing down memory lane... I went to one in Dallas - it seems like a couple of times. What a blast! There was a knock at the door in the wee hours and a college student from Maryland was standing there. She hadn't really planned to come but some friends said they'd drive her and they drove straight through! LOL! I don't even think she stayed long. I arranged a few "Greggerings" for Greg Kramer. We'd go to Toronto to see him in whatever play he was doing then have dinner/party with him a bit. Ratsie droogs all the way! As for the Wars, I didn't actually join the list until after we knew the show was cancelled, but was in one of the early Wars when a fan asked if she could write me into a scene. It was just a cameo. I'd love to do another War but don't know how much I can participate since I'd barely have time to write much (but could some) and certainly not time to read everything...! During one war we'd just gotten e-mail at work and were being told to "play" with it so we'd be more comfortable (at that time, some people had never had e-mail). It was a rare slow period for me and so I even had some of my co-workers coming up with ideas for antics! LOL! Oh, and the time Greg Kramer actually made a War appearance opposite Screed! <g> He was going to be off-line during the war so I and my co-horts had to pre-write it for his approval and just hope we could work the scene into the War's plot. It worked. --Libby ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Jul 2010 23:44:06 -0400 From: Mister Kaye <mrkkaye@a.......> Subject: Re: Old times Because many of the FK cast remained very accessible to their fans, some of us have continued year after year, show to show, and venue to venue. With CHILLER showing the show and introducing some new fans, us old-timers can share things with the newbies they may not have thought of. Look at this summer's group at Stratford - Ger, Nigel, and (behind the scenes) Greg. And many of the actors are still very appreciative of what their fans have done - LCA, gertherings, etc. I think of FK as the trunk of a tree, and as far away as we may grow from it, it is and will always connect the different branches. And this list will continue as long as there are people who appreciate what we do and where we started. Not a bad lesson to pass on to newbies. I ealize it's debatable whether that was a good thing. <eg> I've enjoyed the wars, and only dropped out of the last one because I was so ccupied w. real life. Now that I'm retired, I'd love to do another one, along he old lines where we didn't have to be in a faction to play and attacks were andom and didn't require permission. (We'd still have to have written ermission before hand for anyone who wanted to play, including being attacked. SU almost got sued over something on fkfic-l at one point, although not over nything directly connected w. FK.) After a long gap owing to real life problems, FK brought me back to writing, hen it looked like we wouldn't have a 2nd season. I wrote "Coming Across" as an ttempt to land the series. I have quite a bit of memorabilia, of course, and some hardcopy photos. Greer, f you'd like to get in touch with me, I'll be happy to talk about sending them or scanning and inclusion. CONs -- We had Dead of Winter in Worcester, Mass. one January after the Star rek Con which Nigel was supposed to attend was cancelled. The mundanes at the otel were seriously freaked, but we all had lots of fun. Nigel was, I think, he sole guest and loads of run. I got to meet Ger twice, once at a con and once at a weekend organized by his anclub, Nigel several times, Deb twice, and John Kapelos once. We could never ersuade Catherine Disher to come to a con, not even Ger. As many of you know, he'd had a very bad experience with fans on another show, and thereafter efused to meet any face to face. As for Bridging, I still have the self-portrait of Nick which I bought there and hich had been on the set as a decoration. Is the woman who was the other erious bidder still here, or does anyone know how to contact her? If only I had otten tenure and therefore had money, I'd have come to LCAs too, Thank you, all of you, for making this fandom so very special!
