Technically, I think it would have been a very hard scene to film, having
Ger pick up Catherine and maneuver her to the couch without it being
awkward. But more than that, I think for Nick, more than anyone (religious,
serial killer used to death, etc.), what was on the floor was not Nat --
Natalie was already beyond the "door" or approaching it, in Nick's
world-view. More important than anything to him, at that moment, would have
been for him to catch up with her as soon as possible, to share in her faith
that they *would* be together. He was urgent to not leave her waiting alone
which, while macabre, does have it's own element of romance and devotion.
The whole scene seems to indicate that Nick has already set aside earthly
things and is already focused on the spiritual -- neither Nat's nor his own
"mortal shell" was of any more importance.

Frankly, I can't see Nick ever giving up his quest for redemption, nor can I
see LaCroix giving up his bond with his son. The only answers I could see
for the whole thing was either Nick regained his humanity, he achieved
death, or he continued to struggle throughout his existence. Though, if you
go with the spiritual aspect of the show, I suppose some divine intervention
could have come up with another miraculous answer. All I know is that Nick
was a hero because he gave everything he had to fight the worst that was in
himself to become something better -- that's why I loved this show and why I
love Nick. Thank you, all you fic writers who gave him a happy ending! Love
ya, and love this show! :o)

You know that's a very nice way of looking at it and in my reality I
believe there is life after death for those who embrace Christ. You can't
blame
him for wanting to get there and get away from a life that he felt was
only evil.
