Episode Discussion: The Human Factor (2) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sun, 14 Feb 2010 20:21:55 +0000 From: Ensio Ferum <eferum@h.......> Subject: Re: Episode Discussion: The Human Factor Mario: In my country firemen works as pairs for safety reasons. I started a little bit ponder, if Mario and Patrick could have been former partners, something like in the episode The Code with Schanke and Patrick. Strays: What I liked in Raven was it's homely atmosphere, not so much posers but quite ordinary looking people with a hint of subculture/underground. And wasn't it something "motherly" in Janette in episode Hunters, when she reassured the vampires in the cellar that everything is OK, after she had drived off Schanke. Candles: Vampires must love candles, having been only a little time a guest on Patrick's apartment, Janette (or Patrick?) starts to fill it with candles on every possible spot. I could imagine that a fireman is the last man to fulfill his house with something like that, so he must have liked Janette quite a lot. Perhaps candle reminds vampires about mortal's life's briefness and vulnerability and their own longevity. Babies: On fkspoilr discussion forum (the old archives) there was some debate, if Janette could have been pregnant. And what was Natalie saying in the dream near the end, that the cure is working and she is now pregnant (as meaning Nick is no more a vampire). This is the third time when there is mentioned human capability to reproduce by bearing children and vampires incapability to that. (Last Act, Baby Baby, Human Factor). Janette's portrait: Looks a bit strange that they didn't make the effort to have it more like a painting from the Italian Renaissance. But it looks like somebody has painted it, so it has taken at least some time to have it ready. Hm... nowadays painting softwares are quite capable to do wonders, for example to edit photos in a very drastic ways, to make them look like paintings and so on, but perhaps in the 90's that was impossible. I know one who just loves candles and has several lit in his living room every night. ------- "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools talk because they have to say something."
