Dead Of The Night (2) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Tue, 12 Jan 2010 01:51:06 -0700 From: Walt Doherty <wdoherty5@c.......> Subject: Dead Of The Night Advice of Counsel: In the first act, Tracy advices both the house's caretaker and the real estate agent to get lawyers for when their statements are taken. Is this normal? It struck me as being unusually solicitous for a homicide detective. Also considering that, while the two might initially be suspects superficially , the way these things usually go, they aren't going to be suspects for long. Taking the Fifth: Someone also pointed out that "taking the Fifth" would be an American process and not a Canadian one. I noted that Nick says he'll "take the Fifth" at one point here, and later on (the end I think) Natalie also says she'll have to take the Fifth, refering of course to the US Fifth Constitutional Amendment against self-incrimination. Nick would be familiar with it because of the hearings he went through as an Archeology professor in the early 1950's. But I also think that most Canadians would also be familiar with it due to Canada's proximity to the US. Brother Where Art Thou Towards the end when Reese is at the house, he sees someone and clearly (to me anyway) says, "Jordon?" There is a "Jimmy Reese" listed in the credits. Is is stated anywhere officially, that Reese had a brother or is this just conjecture and assumption on our part? W Walt Doherty wdoherty5@c....... And Catherine Disher says (after the "cut") that she wouldn't say that since she is Canadian. This is one of the noticeable "flaws" of having a Canadian set and LA based writing staff. ------- "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools talk because they have to say something."
