Not only do we not know how she escaped death, but we don't know how she is human (or masquerading as one so well if she's not really one). But I guess that's something for a later ep. I do hope she doesn't die for real this time, though, whether she's a human or a vampire. She's not as creepy as LC, nor does she ooze sex like Janette, but I think she does a fair job mixing some traits of the two. If she stays around, she could turn out to be an interesting chara. In the restaurant scene at the beginning I kept waiting for the "bloody" catsup, but they didn't go there. Ah well. I wonder if there's some sort of elaborate ritual in this show to make vampires human again, like FK's thing with the cups or any of the other lamebrain schemes they made up there? I've been lurking, and really think in my opinion, several of the recent posts referring to Moonlight are not appropriate to this group. THIS IS A FK group and some of the posts are about ML without reference to FK. With that said, I want to share my own thoughts. <LOL> First, I want to agree with Libby, I agree with her post " Disappointing Parallels " Posted 11/24: If we are going to bash Moonlight and the people behind it, then we need to bash Forever Knight for ripping of the vampire detective idea from PN Elrod and several other writers whose books were completed before FK. Point being, ideas are often similar and there's a saying in the writing world that no ideas are identical. Amen, Libby!!! THANK YOU!!! Why can't everyone just watch each vampire show or read a vampire novel and take it for what it is? Honestly, when I first saw Forever Knight, I thought, Hmmmm, been there, read that, but this is a good TV show, and I watched it without comparing! The ENTIRE FOREVER KNIGHT SHOW WAS NOT NEW to me; had read similar things before seeing FK! Also, as I writer, let me tell you, there's only 7 basic plots. Honestly, without going into an entire writing lecture, no matter what the genre, there's basically only 7 plot lines, and they are the same 7 in each genre. You ask, then why do so many books seem to be different? Because, it's how the author spins their own tale of the 7 basic plots, and tells the story in their own voice (each writer has their own style, and it's call the 'writer's voice'). There are many original spins on those plots, and would you believe, most are taken from children's fairy tales? Think about it! If you changed the names and species (the wolf in Little Red Riding Hood or The Three Little Pigs) of the basic fairy tales, and renamed the characters with human names, and changed a few things, then the tale would be your typical fantasy or romance novel!!! Think Cinderella, Snow White, and Beauty & the Beast!!! With that said, Forever Knight was a wonderful TV show, and my all time favorite. But, that doesn't mean it was an original-creative masterpiece; far from it. Moonlight must be viewed as something entirely different. Tonight I had a thought concerning the two shows, Forever Knight and Moonlight. Consider them two children. We love each, but in different ways, without loving one more than the other. We accept each child for who they are, the uniqueness they are, and should never compare them to their sibling! It's a very simple concept, if you love vampires, then you should appreciate the novels and TV shows with vampires, and never compare. I teethed on Dark Shadows as a kid, and saw the similarities between Barnabas and Nick Knight, but that didn't stop me from enjoying each show for what they offered to the fan! Perhaps we should all, STOP COMPARING, AND WATCH MOONLIGHT AND BLOOD TIES, FOR WHAT THEY HAVE TO OFFER, but never forget our love for Forever Knight!!! I personally think it's wonderful that we now have two great shows to fill our vampire desires, even if personally, I enjoy one more than the other. <Big Grin> It's been over 10 years since the end of FK. I never was a Ger groupie, but Ger's talent made me fall in love with Nick Knight. Ger brought the character to life, and made me totally believe Nick Knight was real! WOW, the power of an actor making one believe--Yep, that's talent!!! Since then, I've flown to D.C. several times to see Ger on stage. Why? Because any actor who can make me believe there's an 800 year old, blonde vampire, living in Toronto and working as a homicide detective, certainly has me enthralled with his acting ability!!! My advice, for what it's worth--watch the new shows, Moonlight and Blood Ties, with an open mind. Stop comparing, and be thankful that we now have not one, but two, vampire shows for our indulgence! WOW! This is more than I've ever posted here. <LOL> A eternal vampire fan, Deborah DeborahAHymon.com on 11/25/07 7:25 PM, Ramona Jackson at lexyladyjax@g....... wrote: >> >> Moonlight just doesn't have the writing, the acting, or even the directing >> for me. WOW, the power of an actor making one believe--Yep, that's talent!!! Ah, yes. I can't begin to tell you how that resonates with me (but I'm gonna try). I am an basically a skeptic, I like these shows because they are entertaining, sometimes clever, sometimes cute, whatever. But basically, the "willing suspension of disbelief" eludes me. I know that I am sitting in my bedroom looking at an actor in a TV show. If the camera were to be pulled back 10 feet, we'd see all sorts of people standing around. I was watching an episode of FK, and thinking that I liked it and the representations of detectives was nice if hardly authentic (if it were real, it'd be 90% paper work, 9% boredom, and 1% action), In other words, I knew it was GWD playing a vampire detective, and I knew that GWD was neither a detective nor a vampire. What GWD did for me, however, was to accept the fact that just as there are detectives, there are some who are also vampires. Watching him made me forget that vampires don't actually exist*. Man, he's good! Walt Doherty Phoenix, AZ * I have to put that sentence in there if I want to avoid a visit from the "Enforcers"! This isn't the place to talk about likes and dislikes of Moonlight plots and characters, only how they compare to FK. So, I'm going to declare a moratorium on Moonlight as a topic, even in comparison with FK. There are beginning to be Moonlight lists out there and there's also Vampyres@the-institute.net for general vampire discussion, which would include both Moonlight and FK. For everybody who really has only made comparisons, I am sorry to do this. However, this is the Forever Knight discussion list and only Forever Knight. Thank you. They can be found here: http://taibhrigh.livejournal.com/224834.html For those unfamiliar, the etiquette is to comment on someone's journal if you're taking an icon they have offered, and to credit the maker when you use it. The four FK icons are only four among many icons for a number of other shows, so you have to keep an eye out as you scroll down. The FK ones are right after icons for a show called "Dexter".
