Tonight is the usual UF chat on IRC, on the Undernet, room #unnamedfaction. It 's already started, so come on in! We are hoping to talk about organizing a group to see Ger in the Elephant Man in Toronto, sometime in October. Okay, Would someone give us step by step directions how to join this chat. Many of you 'old timers' know how to connect to this, but some of us don't know how to do so!!! Please send me "step by step" detailed directions off line, how to connect to the FK chat at: debh@e....... PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE explain how I can connect with the chat! I've been on the internet from the beginning, but I don't know how to connect to the old 'IRC' or 'BBS' chats! I was around during the beginning of the old IRC and BBS, but those were so long ago in my internet history; early 1990's? I've so forgotten how to go to those 'very' old chat rooms!!! I appreciate any help you give!!! Okay, for those who need explicit instructions in using MIRC, here's a procedure to follow. Caveat: MIRC remembers settings from session to session, so I personally haven't set up a new account in a long time. I cannot guarantee that a new user will see precisely the same thing I do when I start MIRC (www.mirc.com). That said, try these steps: 1. Start MIRC. 2. In the mIRC Options dialog box, select Connect in the Category pane at the left. Complete the fields that appear to the right. The Nickname and Alternate are what appear in the chat room list of participants. The Nickname is the primary one---the alternate is what shows up if for some reason your nickname is in use. 3. In the Category pane, select Servers. At the right, in the IRC Network field, select Undernet, and then click OK. NOTE: These are the only essential options you need to set up---your nickname and to choose the server. It's okay to accept all the other default settings. 4. You now see a blank window. At the top of the window is a toolbar which contains an icon that looks like a lightning bolt. Click that icon to connect to the Undernet server. 5. When you have been connected (this may take a while), a popup dialog box called mIRC Favorites appears. In the field at the top, type #unnamedfaction, which is the channel name you want to join, and then click Join. You are now in the UF chat room. Your nickname appears in the pane to the right, and you will see the message "Now talking in #unnamedfaction at the bottom of the window. If there is another person in the room, you can now chat. Type your messages in the narrow pane at the bottom of the window, and press Enter to send your message to the room. That's it! I hope this is explicit enough for you. If anything definite is decided about the play during the chats, I (and probably more than just me) would appreciate it if the details were posted on the list. I work 2nd shift, and, no matter how much I'd really like to participate in the chats, I think my supervisor might frown on it. Most people have minds like concrete: mixed up or permanently set. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Sep 2007 13:47:58 -0700 From: Bonnie <callalily@l.......> Subject: Does Nick have a new gig? I just noticed that Nicholas Knight is the author of two paperbacks: "Supernatural: The Official Companion Season 1" and "Supernatural: The Official Companion Season 2". Guess Nick is putting his vast knowledge of the supernatural to good use. From cop to author. Hmm.
