This is one of my favorite episodes partly because of the conversation between Nick and Nat about bringing her brother over. Nick tells her to let God take care of it and she says that God has it wrong this time or something to that effect. That whole conversation was great because she did push at Nick and I really liked the humanity line. My biggest problem is the time line they tried to establish about Richard's death. When they are telling Sarah about the funeral, it sounds as if it's already happened but they are in the same clothes they were in when he "died" (brought over). I'm also trying to remember when it was established there was some connection between Lacroix and Nick. Wouldn't Nick and Richard have that same connection, at least sense the emotions in him? I like Nick and Janette's conversation as well. My thoughts for the night. lol Phylis Author of poems in Forbidden Love: Bad Boys & Wicked Women Now available! http://www.genreconnections.com/shop/ phylis_s_2000_2001@y....... http://www.geocities.com/phylis_s_2000_2001/phylis_poetry.html ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 5 Jun 2007 12:01:40 -0400 From: "Phillips, Tim" <Tim.Phillips@s.......> Subject: Episode Discussion: Dead Air 1) I like Schanke's line "You fall for this damsel in distress routine". I find it funny that rather than ignore the pattern of Nick serially rescuing the cutie of the week...the writer acknowledged it with a laugh. 2) Is 911 also an emergency number in Canada? Or did they have Christina Noble write that on the sign she showed her soundtech simply because the audience was predominately expected to be American? 3) How many times can Nick bolt from the car and mysteriously turn up miles away on a fresh murder scene before Schanke has to put the pieces together? I like that they eventually had Schanke start to assemble the parts....but I do think it does the character a dis-service by having him so oblivious for so long. I'd like to think if the show was done today...there would be a subplot of Schanke and Stonetree knowing something was up and jointly trying to quietly figure out what the real deal with Nick was. 4) "This stuff makes vampires look like school boys." Great quote from Natalie. Say whatever else you will about our favorite coroner...she did/does have a sense of humor. 5) "How come he gets the live ones?" - Schanke about nick getting to work with Dr. Noble while he gets stuck digging through piles of records. "They like him." - Stonetree. Funny because it works on the subtext level that the character of Schanke is often sent to do the boring stuff necessary to move the plot forward while Nick spends time with the guest star doing the more glamorous stuff. 6) The flashback sequence of LaCroix, Janette and Nick with the man Janette thinks looks like LaCroix's father is particularly dark. LaCroix in this is not merely predatory...he is pathalogically....which fits the show. Showing Nick dealing with irrational actions both in the past and present.
