Bram Stoker used this process in Dracula, with Mina Harker, back in the 1890's. So Forever Knight's vampire-creation process is part of a fine long-standing literary tradition. Here's the scene, from chapter 21 (via http://www.literature.org/authors/stoker-bram/dracula/chapter-21.html): "Kneeling on the near edge of the bed facing outwards was the white-clad figure of [Harker's] wife. By her side stood a tall, thin man, clad in black. His face was turned from us, but the instant we saw we all recognized the Count, in every way, even to the scar on his forehead. With his left hand he held both Mrs. Harker's hands, keeping them away with her arms at full tension. His right hand gripped her by the back of the neck, forcing her face down on his bosom. Her white night-dress was smeared with blood, and a thin stream trickled down the man's bare chest which was shown by his torn-open dress. The attitude of the two had a terrible resemblance to a child forcing a kitten's nose into a saucer of milk to compel it to drink." Since her and Don haven't stepped in.... Please remember all discussion of vampires must directly relate to Forever Knight. This is as per "Rule 6" of the FORKNI-L rules which are posted every weekend by Don or McLisa: 6. This list is for the discussion of Forever Knight and related topics. *snip* Discussion of non-FK vampires or vampires in general is not ok. *snip* Thank you. Apparently TPTB are still trying to at least give the impression that Nick and Tracy were supposed to get involved (the original plan, from what I understand). And they were actively trying to dump Catherine. Oh, well, I just ignore Tracy and Vachon as much as possible. I'm a first/second season person. Schanke and Janette rule! My stepdad had rushed my mother to the hospital earlier this afternoon, and I just received word about fifteen minutes ago that she is listed in critical condition. She had not been feeling well this entire week, and has been incoherent when talking (she seemed to be mumbling or sounds like she was talking in her sleep). Yesterday, my stepdad told me she was either coughing up or vomiting blood. She had refused to go to the hospital when he had called the ambulance Monday and she had a slight fever then. She is an insulin dependent diabetic. When I call the hospital he had taken her to, they where still working on her and that was about five minutes ago. They couldn't tell me anything yet about her condition and suggested that I call back in about an hour. I will try to post updates as I get them, until then I hope you will keep us in your prayers and I know the more people that pray the better the outcome. Thanks a whole lot, Cassie ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Oct 2006 01:01:47 -0500 From: "Stone, Barbara" <STONEB@g.......> Subject: scientists say vampires can't exist Yes, VIRGINIA, there are vampires. They exist as certainly as love and gluttony and that delicious shiver that courses up your spine exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest enjoyment and excitement. Alas! How dreary would be the world if there were no vampires! It would be as dreary as if there were no VIRGINIAS. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance, no entrancing stories of things that go bump in the night to make tolerable this existence. We should have no joy, except in sense and sight. The eternal fear of darkness which spices childhood the world over would be extinguished. Not believe in vampires! You might as well not believe in germs! You might get your papa to hire men to stand vigil over all the coffins on All Hallow's Eve to stake a vampire, but even if they did not see a single vampire emerging from his darkness, what would that prove? Nobody sees vampires, but that is no sign that there are none. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see microbes dancing on your tonsils? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world. You toss a baseball at the t.v. screen to see all the little Arthur Godfreys inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest man that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance can push aside that curtain and reveal the supernal beauty and glory beyond (not to mention a certain wizard). Is it all real? Ah, VIRGINIA, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding. No vampires! Thank Lacroix and our sainted Nicholas! They persist in their undead state, and they persist forever. A thousand years from now, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, they will continue to strike terror in the hearts of children everywhere. B. At this moment, Lisa Ryder is probably better known to American audiences. Fans of Andromeda might pick the box up because they recognize Ms Ryder.... That said, it would have made more sense to use LaCroix, Nick and Natalie, because they are the only characters central to the series across all three seasons. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Oct 2006 05:43:12 -0400 From: Cheryl <fknight420@c.......> Subject: Re: PRAYER: Mother All my love, prayers, thoughts and spirits be with you and your family.
