Well.... Monday morning on my way into work, I turned onto the footpath that
leads into my building - and nearly stepped on a very large, very dead rat!
"Screed! Will yer kindlee dispose of yer leftovers proper-like - there's
lotsa bins roun' 'ere, ma'ey!"

(Bet you wished you hadn't asked now, Lisa!)

I found it really amusing that P.N. (Pat) Elrod's latest book is due out
Tuesday, October 3rd - the same day as the FK 3rd season DVDs! (In case anyone
doesn't know, she wrote three novels with Nigel Bennett)

'My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding' is a wonderful anthology of paranormal
romances. Don't let the "romance" part scare you if you aren't into that sort of
tale. There's romance, but not of the sappy sort. We're talking well written
stories of vampires, werewolves, Greek gods, pirates (aaarrrgggghhhh, matey!), and
even Elvis. I don't think I've ever been so impressed by an anthology! Pat did
a fantastic job!

  There are stories by:

  L.A. Banks
  Jim Butcher
  Rachel Caine
  P.N. Elrod
  Esther M. Friesner
  Lori Handeland
  Charlaine Harris
  Sherrilyn Kenyon
  Susan Krinard

I don't know of a central list, but I highly suggest hitting the Metro
Toronto Police Station, which is just down the block from the Coroner's
office, on Grenville, just off Yonge. The Coroner's office does NOT give
tours (we asked), but the police station has a "great history of law
enforcement in Toronto" display (at least it did when I was there) and a
gift shop where you can buy Metro Toronto Police clothes and trinkets!

Also the ROM museum, where parts of the pilot were filmed; Casa Loma and
Allen Gardens, two other locales where bits of the show were filmed. The
alley beside the hotel (I think it's a Best Western, but that might have
changed) on Charles St. (it's the first hotel you come to when you turn off
Yonge St.) is where they filmed one of the big final scenes from The Queen
of Harps (I think that's the ep). According to Greg Kramer, Vachon's church
burned down not long after the 3rd season ended, but we've never had
independent confirmation on that - indeed, the lot where the church was
rumored to be was vacant when I was first in TO, but since shops have been
built on that spot.

If you're a fan of Queer As Folk, you should definitely check out Church
Street, just one block over from Yonge - you'll recognize a lot of the
exteriors. Also, Greg Kramer (and Libby Singleton, I believe) both highly
recommend This Ain't The Rosedale Library, a bookstore, which is also on
Church St.

And, if you've got a car, Niagara Falls is just a couple hours' drive from
TO and it's totally worth it. For the fudge, if nothing else! In addition
to the fudge, and the falls, there's the floral clock, magnificent views of
the river, and a butterfly garden/dome/thingee.

I hope you both have a lot of fun!
