I saw this in The Times newspaper today - I'd never heard of actinic prurigo
before now.

Just having a weird mental leap. I noticed the article was written by
Simon de Bruxelles. Isn't thatBruxelles the French/Belgian form for
Brussels, near Brabant?

   Back to regular lurking.

I thought this was interesting. We know that the
vampires in FK listen to heartbeats, I would assume
breathing patterns also make an impression?

Does anyone remember reading/hearing that the writers
were going to keep Christine Reeves on for several
more episodes, but there was a lack of chemistry
between her and Ger? What did you think about the
interaction between them?

I never really found her portrayal convincing. She was presented as a
clingy, needy nerd (that "Hold me" scene really gets on my nerves). Hers
is the only character change from the original movie that I didn't like.
And chemistry? Not a trace!

I do have to agree. Ger did a great job opposite her, but there was
nothing there.
I really hate that "Hold Me" scene too. Makes it sound like a
daytime soap or something.

I never cared for her either. I thought the character was pushy.
The whole relationship seemed forced on her part. And she was a stalker.

Maybe a different actress might have made a difference, but I doubt
it. She just didn't seem to fit in the FK universe.

And wouldn't you have thought that Nick abstaining from blood through
the episode, growing weaker, would have been a clue that he needed
blood to live? Didn't Nat finally have to give him a transfusions
to help him recover? Didn't this blow a hole in the theory that it
was the blood keeping him from crossing back?
Was that story line ever dropped?

Re: Nick's eating the hamburger or sausage or whatever that is in the
frying pan.

It is cold and has been sitting there for a while (the frying grease
seems to have solidified) **I** probably would have spit it out
after taking a bite. Gross!
Maybe he should have warmed it up at least. It would have at least
been a little more palatable.

That's what I heard at the time. I think Ger told us the part about
the original intention's being to keep her for several eps at the
1992 Toronto Trek, although not about the lack of chemisttry. I
think it was the right decision. There wasn't the least chemistry and
I found the character boring. Besides, Alyce as a possible human
romantic interest for Nick was a hold-over from the original Nick
Knight, where the coroner was a man. Once they had Natalie, and the
chemisty between Ger and C.D., there was no need for Alyce. Also,
Janette was not necessarily going to be involved romantically with
Nick, IIRC. Of course Ger and Deb Duchene had great chemistry, too,
which made Alyce even more unnecessary.

I know I heard/read at the time that it was Ger and CD's idea to play
the subtext that Nat was in love with Nick.

It did seem to quick for them to be kissing the second time they
met. And I agree there was no chemistry between them. Phylis
