I still have to work on the rest of the site. http://www.darksideoftheglass.com -Amanda "What princes of the moon we'd be, Two blazing beacons in the dark Desire drives me to take him now, No force on earth will ever tear him from my heart." http://www.darksideoftheglass.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 May 2006 21:59:36 -0400 From: Don Fasig <argent@c.......> Subject: Update #13 on Lynne Ackerman's health This message forwarded on behalf of Dot jennii35@i....... -------Original Message------- From: Todd Andrews Date: 05/22/06 15:04:49 To: jennii35@i....... Subject: SN:370:Update #13 on Lynne Ackerman's health Sun 05-21-06 09:36 pm Posted by Todd Andrews (starman@p.......) I have some very encouraging news from Lynne's sister Sari, but first.... I don't know why I thought Lynne's birthday was in December. IT'S THIS WEEK -- WEDNESDAY! So I'm extending the deadline for the next audio CD to send to Lynne. If you haven't called in your message yet (and even if you have), there's still time to be included, and you can even wish her a Happy (Belated) Birthday! IMPORTANT DEADLINE: Friday, May 26, 5PM Pacific, 8PM Eastern. If you'd like to leave a message on my voice mail for Lynne, this is the deadline to be included on the next audio CD I'll be making up for her. See "Voices of Lynne's Friends" Project below for details. Sending Lynne a CD or tape so she can hear her friends voices is the BEST WAY we can help her right now. Here's the message I received from Sari: ----- I'm wondering if you could please pass along a message and let people know that we do feel Lynne is becoming a bit more alert and seems somewhat more responsive to human voices. If anyone would like to send her a recorded message, we will be happy to play it for her. If people would like to call, that would also be greatly appreciated. The phone number at the hospital is (905) 000-0000, ext. 0000. My sister Sheila is usually there from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Savings Time and can hold the phone up to Lynne's ear. The rehabilitation therapists have set a goal of getting Lynne out of bed and into a wheelchair so they can take her outside into the hospital courtyard and garden for her birthday, which is this Wednesday, May 24th, so we are all hoping that will happen. Thank you all again for your kindness and support. ----- Sari has always been conservative and cautious in talking about Lynne's prognosis so her message above about her sister is indeed significant. Some folks have written to ask what equpment Lynne has in her room. She has a TV and VCR, CD player and cassette player. A few people have somehow missed the initial news about Lynne's going into the hospital so here's a brief summary: Lynne was admitted on 12/12/04 with pneumonia. At first she started responding to the antibiotic but then she got very ill because of an allergic reaction. On 12/20/04 she was moved to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit). After being in a coma for several weeks, on 01/13/05 she was awake and alert for a significant period of time during the day. She continued to improve, albeit slowly, and eventually was moved (in February) out of ICU and into a private room. She began receiving physical therapy and was getting stronger. But in mid-February she had trouble breathing again and was moved into a different hospital unit for closer monitoring. She was moved back to a regular room once she stabilized and then her condition continued to improve. Sadly, she again slipped into a coma in mid-April and has not regained consciousness since. She continues to have a traech tube inserted to assist her breathing. In December 2005 her sisters moved her belongings from her apartment into storage. Sorry if some of you are receiving this message more than once. Kind regards, Todd Andrews Portland, OR ----- The following information will be repeated in each update about Lynne so you don't have to look up prior emails to find this info. 1) Send letters and packages (large or small) to Lynne at: Lynne Ackerman c/o Sheila Ziedenberg 00 Xxx Xxxxxxxx Richmond Hill, Ontario CANADA X0X 0X0 2) The "Voices of Lynne's Friends" Project: This is an ongoing project where people can call my voice mail and leave a message. The voice mail service I use creates digital audio files of the sender's call so it's easy for me to create a CD after enough have accumulated. Got a funny story to tell? Did something funny or interesting happen to you today? An update on what's happening in your life lately (new kid, new job, travel)? Please consider sharing it! The TOLL FREE number is 1-888-000-0000 and when prompted for my phone number use: (503) 000-0000. Obviously you must be using a touch-tone phone. Call any time; it does not ring in my house so you don't have to worry about waking me up if I'm sleeping. The voice mail service has a five minute limit PER CALL but you may call as often as you like. 3) The "Audio Gifts for Lynne" Project: I've set up a gift registry that you can access for free at: http://tinyurl.com/9mymw Cassette or CD is OK. A shipping address is included at the above link. If you or someone you know has already sent gifts to Lynne, please visit the registry URL above to update the fact you've purchased something, so that we don't have two or more people sending the same item. Some of the items have links to a web site where you *could* buy the item, but mainly the link is provided for the description. You need not feel obligated to buy them from the linked-to website. If you know of other audio/music interests that Lynne has, and you want to share your ideas with others through the registry, please let me know your suggestions and I'll add them. -- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 May 2006 21:03:05 -0700 From: Megan Hull <mistrydder@y......> Subject: Re: Here's the link for the Caddy sale, this time really *drools* *whimpers when she sees the pricetag* oh, how I wish I could afford it.... -Megan Lisa McDavid <mclisa@m.......> wrote: For photos, please visit this web page: http://www.mpica.org/brockcaddy.htm "Eternal nights too short, How quickly melt away, With all the love we shared once, Forever in a Day." ------------------------------ End of FORKNI-L Digest - 22 May 2006 to 23 May 2006 (#2006-143) ***************************************************************
