And it's not even fandom related <g> Now I > actually get doses of feedback. It's been kewl :) So, how are people supposed to find this fiction on LJ? I'm serious---how do you find FK fiction there? Why don't authors who post fic there at least tell us on the ML what they're doing and provide links? It's not all in one place, is it? Do you have to find each individual author's LJ, and monitor a gazillion websites? Yes, I am a Luddite when it comes to fiction. Posts to the ML are so much easier. I hate surfing, blindly wandering around the internet hoping to strike paydirt. Life is too short for that. So klew us in on the secrets to finding FK fiction. I do want to read fiction. I just don't want to have to work so hard to find it! Do you have to find each >individual author's LJ, and monitor a gazillion websites? I *do* post all my fic on the FK Fic list, and have for a decade, but I get nearly zero feedback. I feel lucky if I get even one comment on any given story I post there (waves to Phylis). I still intend to post my fic there, despite not being sure anyone is even reading. But the fact is, I get much more response when I post fic to my blog and my LJ. I don't know why that is, but that's how it works out [shrug] I finally went to where the audience is, and that seems to be Live Journal these days. I've written more than half a dozen stories since December, and got more feedback on one story on LJ than for all of the stories I posted to the email list. As for other authours, I don't know. Some of them may not even realize these lists exist. >So klew us in on the secrets to finding FK fiction. I do want to read >fiction. I just don't want to have to work so hard to find it! You don't have to hunt for mine, it can be found on FK Fic, but I can only speak for myself. I do want to read fiction. I just don't want to have to work so hard to find it! I agree. I enjoy rereading my favorite authors and long for new ones but am totally unfamily with the whole livejournal and blog thing. Short of setting up a google alert, how is anyone to know when a story is posted there? It's great that new folks are being introduced to the FK, but old fans would like to read new stories too. I'm a traditionalist at heart. When I finish my next story (and I promise, I will), it will be in text format, posted to the lists unadorned. I know how much work that is, so I accept that not everyone is willing to spend the additional time to do the chapter-by-chapter posts checking for the dreaded =20 disease. It would, however be nice if people announced when they have new stories, and where they are being posted. That's what I've found too. There's a LJ community for fanfic which tends to supply quite a bit of feedback. What if everyone who DOES post fic on LiveJournal were to join the "fk freaks" community, then drop an announcement and a link when they post fiction? Or we could even create a Forever Knight Fiction community, just for posting LJ fics. I'd be glad to do it, though my customization skills are pretty poor, so it would be boring to look at. :-) Of course, I still hope everyone who's on the FORKNI lists will continue to crosspost to FKFIC. It doesn't take that much time, and most of us who write fic are attention sluts anyway <g>, so more potential readers can't be bad! -- -------------- Stephanie Babbitt (sbabbitt@b.......), Atlanta, GA Vaquera (Because I Can), MadNatter, N&NPacker Nobody Dies. You will also be able to do linking to outside sources of your stories, if you desire, to your own website or livejournal, while still having it listed in the archive, though you might want to have it archived on the site since then you will be able to edit it and it will get backed up periodically along with the rest of the stories. If you're an author and want to give me a hand testing this out, drop me an email. I've also started a livejournal blog to keep track of my work on the site. It's at: http://fkfanfic.livejournal.com/ Feel free to friend me if you wish. Sorry, guys. I have been working on my main site. I will try to get it up this afternoon when I get home from work. I am going out later tonight, but I should just be able to put it up. Funny, I really don't think it is 100 material, but I'm not going to complain. <g> I'll make an announcement when I put it up. If not tonight, then tomorrow.
