" The dvd is only made when someone orders it, and therefore there is a
smaller upfront fee for the company.
They are also thinking about doing it for current shows - like if you can
never watch a show at the time it is on, you can order the dvds right away
and watch it whenever you want."

That's the way that A&E has been doing for some of their shows for a long
time. When I ordered some episodes from "Biography" a long time ago, I got
a VHS tape in a generic logoed case, quite obviously labeled by an
individual with a page of labels and an inkjet printer.

That would be a GREAT idea, if Sony would get on board. It would be simpler
to reproduce DVDs, and less expensive for materials, packaging, etc....

However, since they've started the Trilogy, it would be nice to have them
finish it, so as not to leave an ugly gap on my bookshelf! Style IS
everything, after all.... ;-P

Some people may have seen the GWDFC notice about Ger doing Don Armado at the
Shakespeare Theatre in Washington DC and Stratfor-upon-Avon in England. Joining
Ger in Love's Labour's Lost - both in the States and in England - will be Ben
(Vachon) Bass as Berowne. Enjoy.

CustomFlix, that sells dvds of television shows.. to

Are you sure they can do that legally? Also, you have to wonder what kind of
quality these DVDs would have. Ultimately we are probably still better off
lobbying Sony. If we get the DVDs from them they should be reasonably good
quality and most likely will have additional features.

Subject: looking for a certain reincarnation story

Last week, an acquaintance was talking about reincarnation in fiction, and
I suddenly saw a brilliant flash of a single scene of an FK fanfiction from
years ago that I just have not been able to place since. The flavor in my
memory initially made me think it would have been by Mary Combs or Dorothy
Elggren, but it doesn't seem to be among their respective bodies of work
(unless I'm just not putting the pieces together properly). My
acquaintance raised the subject with a lament that she didn't find enough
reincarnation fiction to her taste, and then I began thinking about the
relative canonicity of ghosts versus reincarnation in FK, which is a fun
old mire of a debate topic.

What I remember is a scene late in the story, somewhere in the US
southwest, perhaps Arizona, with a Natalie who survived "Last Knight" as a
vampire, and a female artist who is a reincarnation of Nick, who did not
survive.

Does that ring any bells? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Although not usually my range of fiction, I'd be interested in that one

onlist.

That's a good idea for some shows, namely all those obscure ones that
were watched by nobody but me and were lucky if they even got one whole
season -_- . But for FK, I like the normal store releases like they've been
having. I think you miss out on a lot of the casual first-time viewers who
are just trying something 'cause it looks cool, if the only way to get DVDs
is by having them specially printed just for you.

Now if I could just find time to update -_-;;; . . .

CustomFlix will not be making ANY video available,
only those that they have been given the rights to in
order to provide this service.
The service is really a benefit to the production
company/copyright holder rather than to the fan. It
will eliminate having to guess how well a show will
sell in order to produce enough videos without excess
to be stored somewhere.

As to FK - they won't be able to offer FK videos
unless Sony allows them.
