We Want Your Opinion
We've heard that Forever Knight fans are divided about how KtK uses the
funds collected from our auctions. Some favor using them for charity (as we
have
done for the past two years) and some favor using them to place a full-page ad
in Sci-Fi magazine to ask TPTB for the third season DVDs and anything else
FK-related.

Here's your chance to voice your opinion. Just vote in the web poll and let
us know what you want us to do! Should we use the proceeds from the next
Crusader auction (to be held sometime around June) to buy an ad? Or should we
continue giving the money to charity? (Purchasing an ad is a one-time deal:
we're
considering doing that just with the next auction. Any auctions held after that
will be for charity only.

Voting closes Friday, April 7, 2006

I'm in the process of switching all my lists to a new addy and have somehow
'lost' JADFE (the adult FK fiction list). Could someone e-mail me privately with
the info?

Also, and with McLisa's permission, I'd like to ask everyone to please make
note of this new addy. I've had my Libratsie@a....... and ALibbyP@a....... ones
for well over a decade. If you have archived any of my stories, poems, silliness,
and can change my addy on them, please do. The old addies will work for a month
or so, and then they are going away.

(Yes, there's a reason I'm dropping AOL after this long but you'll need to
e-mail me for a horrible customer service example)

  My new addy is:

I'd just like to throw in my comments about the KtK poll. Obviously charity
is important. No one can argue that point. But if KtK doesn't raise money
for itself, then who will? If KtK is quitting, then that means someone else
needs to come along and start from the very bottom to raise money for ads,
requests for merchandise, etc.

Maybe i'm jumping the gun here, but if KtK is all about charity and not for
Forever Knight anymore, maybe someone else needs to take it over rather than
someone else having to start anew. Or have *all* of us given up hope of KtK
making a difference in us getting the 3rd season on dvd?

***I TOTALLY AGREE!!! I think we need to reorganize and redirect (at least
for a brief time) how we promote this fandom to keep it alive! I know no
one wants to admit our fandom is dying, but let's face it--this fandom is
not as strong as it used to be. We need to recruit new fans, and promote to
get the powers to release "season 3".

I do believe we could increase the fandom if each fan member here would
actively spread the word; what a wonderful TV show FK was, and try to get
new members to buy the DVDs. I've done this multiple times with success. It
CAN Happen! I find it very exciting when I expose FK to a new fan, they buy
the DVDs, and are hooked. Their usual comment: "How could I have missed this
wonderful show?"

So my friends: "Open your mouth and preach the FK gospel." <LOL> Spread the
word!!!!

***I would like to see a "FUNDS SUPPORTING FK" (FS-FK). This would be for
fans who wish to donate $$$ to place the ads needed in SCI-FI magazine, etc.

Such campaign (FS-FK), would be another way to raise funds for ads besides
the 'one time' auction. The latest auctions haven't offered any merchandise
I'm interested in, so I haven't placed bids, which equal no funds for FK. I
would be more than willing to donate to a fund that would wisely use the $$$
for ads and promotions for "FK-Season 3" and other fan desired items.

If no one is interested in taking on such project, but interested in
donating, then please contact me off lists. I would be willing to take on
this project! Does anyone know the cost to place such ads in the Sci-Fi
magazine or how to do so?

Okay, hope this opens more discussions on how we can get these ads a
reality.

Thanks,
Deborah

Why is the suggestion being made to start a fund to keep FK alive when that's
what KtK is for? That is why they are having a poll, to make sure that's what
the fans want them to do.

If you have ideas for fundraising, ask to join KtK!

If you didn't bid at the auction because there wasn't anything you wanted,
then DONATE to the auction! They can only auction what is donated to them.

If you want KtK to buy an advertisement, vote that way in their poll.

If you want to donate to an advertisement or other ideas to keep FK fandom
alive, then ask KtK how to do so.

***Good Point, but not all of us here know how KtK works or what it is.
Perhaps a brief description of what it is and their purpose should be
posted, especially for the new people.

***I would love to donate money for an ad, just let me know the details.
Whoever is in charge, contact me off list.

***I may have this confused with another FK auction, but I recently saw an
auction, and the money wasn't used for children's hospital? Isn't the KtK
auction used for that charity? If I recall, it was something about helping
animals? I may be confused, as I've been scanning through an abundance of
emails, barely reading their contents. I would appreciate someone explaining
this confusion.

I'm having major problems with the Crusader page
loading, and when it does, I see the article about the
poll, but I don't see any kind of a poll form or a
link to one.

My apologies. It looks like Doteasy is having one of their rare technical
problems. The page is loading very slowly for me too, in both Firefox and IE6, and I
have a T1 connection here at work. When I visited the Doteasy administrator's
page, it tells me that their web tools (including polls) are temporarily
unavailable.

Please wait a few hours and visit the Crusader home page again. I'm certain
that the poll will once again be available---Doteasy is very reliable about fixing
problems on their servers.

I would like to comment on this.. first, KtK is NOT quitting! on a regular
basis i send in the fans emails to TPTB asking for the release of the third
season DVD's.as well as sending letters on your behalf to the FK book
publishers, and even try to get audio versions of Fk made. The problem stems from
this.. many times when i ask for emails, i get a very small response. As i have
said in the past,we need hundreds of emails, to get any kind of attention, on
average i have received barely one hundred sometimes less..
I also have done in the past and continue to do extra projects, many times
out of pocket to send things to TPTB such as cookies, balloons, etc,on behalf of
the fans, to promote the show.I will continue to do so.I have worked at this
for many years now out of love for the series. i still love the series, and
want the things as much as you all do.what all of us at KtK do is a labor of
love. Its done during off hours at work, during family crisis, etc...I am
always open to any ideas you all might have for projects that might help the
cause, you all know you can email anytime...but know that i and everyone else
in the group have NOT given up on FK, thats why we do all that we do...
We have recently switched to donating money to charity because we were told
by many of you that it was what you wanted, the poll will let us know what you
want now....
I am in touch with the Sci-Fi magazine on a regular basis as well.
sorry Lisa if this exceeds the line limit..please forgive..
HUGS to all,
susan

My life has turned chaotic this last few days and I
have a lot to take care of, including finding a
missing kitty that has never been outside in his short
life. His name is Nico and he's named after our
favorite vampire, so any thought sent his way are
completely ON TOPIC :) (He's the subject of my story
"Foundling" which is on the FTP site if you want to
read it.)

I'm in the middle of a really abrupt move and all the

well and have a strong support network in place, but
any good thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Being a part of the KtK effort, I watch Susan put in amazing amounts of time
and effort and her own money to get things done on behalf of the fans. She's an
Army of One and has been doing this stuff since oh, forever. <g>

Absolutely true. KtK tries to keep the fires burning, but it can't be a one-sided
effort. We need your support---and your letters and your donations. However,
we have watched the response dwindle over the last few years...even fun stuff
(or what we fondly believe is fun stuff) like little caption contests, fic
contests, etc. get a very small response. If what we try to do isn't to your liking,
please feel free to suggest something else. Or help out with creating something
that will get fans involved again.

KtK is at the core three very busy people---all of us with full-time jobs,
families, and homes and other activities that keep us busy day and night. We try
to wedge in time for FK and KtK as much as possible.

I personally have talked to fans at LCA and via private email/IM, asking about
the direction KtK should take. For quite a while the feedback I received in
these informal polls was, "put that money to good use, give it to charity, there's
no real hope of getting Sony to give us anything more than the third season
DVDs, don't waste the money."

KtK discusses this among ourselves every so often as well. Susan suggested we
take an actual poll to find out what the fans really do believe, rather than go
on anecdotal evidence. Hence the web poll (which does not allow for multiple
votes from one person, so hopefully it is a fairly accurate assessment of what
fans think).

It's gratifying to see that there is interest out there, but it would be much
more gratifying if people actually DID something rather than just talk about
SOMEONE doing SOMETHING. That someone is you, folks. And KtK is willing to be the
instrument to place that ad, or pester TPTB with a box of printed-out emails
from fans asking for those DVDs.

So make your opinion known in the web poll (which is working again--thank you,
Doteasy). When Susan asks for them, write emails politely asking TPTB for DVDs
and books and stuff. And while you're at it, enter the caption contest we've
got running! It started yesterday and I've got 6, count 'em, SIX, entries.

We can do better than that, folks. Let's see some spirit!!
