I missed Slings & Arrows on Sundance both Sunday & today, which means that I do not have ep #4 (I think it's ep. #4--I caught the last 5 min. & it's the one where GWD's character is fired). Is there a kind soul out there who could make me a copy of this? I would, of course, pay for the tape & shipping & handling..... B. As I recall before he brought Richard across, Nick talked to Janette. At which time Janette asked him if he was prepared for the eternal bond. Nick's response was he didn't think that was necessary. That being the case some of what Nick did when he brought Richard across may have been deliberate on his part. In his defence it is that which he resents in his relation with LaCroix. He may not have wanted to burden Richard with something he finds burdensome. In other words he was attempting to give Richard the freedom he had never had been given by LaCroix.. It's a very human response in that we often try do the opposite to what somebody has done to us and in doing end up quite often end up making a mess the other way. With Nick it was quite mess probably for reasons which Portia mentioned in her discussion on Fledglings. It was produced by the BBC, and is one of the longest (if not *the* longest) running science fiction show in television. It began in the mid-1960s and initially ran continuously until the late 80's. About 10 years ago, Fox produced a made-for-TV movie that did not do very well at all. Last year, BBC began producing a new series of Doctor Who episodes, which were finally picked up by Sci-Fi just before Season 2 is about to start in Britian. > I understand the new version is starting on the Sci-Fi? Is it about vampires? It is not about vampires, no, although there have been vampire-like aliens that have appeared in a couple of the old episodes. > Is that why everyone is mentioning it here with FK? I think it's only coming up because McLisa mentioned it in passing in her admin post. It's simply another sci-fi cult classic show that has a lot of crossover potential. > Could someone please post a brief synopsis so those who don't > know who Dr. Who is can decide if we want to watch this show? I'm hoping > there's something about vampires in Dr. Who. Since Laurie's posted the link to Wikipedia, I won't restate what you can find there. I personally think there is a lot of appeal to various audiences, but it is not specifically about vampires, no. The Doctor is a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey; he originally got bored with Time-Lord society and stole a TARDIS (Time and Relative Dimensions in Space) which got stuck in the shape of a police call box. The Doctor has been played by William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, and Sylvester McCoy. Paul McGann was the Doctor in a recent TV movie that was supposed to be the pilot of a new show, but the ratings in the U.S. were too low, even though the movie was pretty good. Last year, the BBC started a new show with Christopher Eccleston which was a success, and now it's coming to the Sci-Fi Channel. Evelyn Duncan brandykitt@a....... No vampires that I can see! :-( well like someone else said, it's not a vampire show as such. However, there was at least one episode that I can recall which dealt with a vampire like alien creature. Which had transformed three humans into vampires to be its servants... I'm surprised no one's tried a FK/DR Who fanfic....IMHO that would be interesting. I'm not sure where in Alabama you grew up, but in Birmingham, it was showing on the PBS station -- new episodes and syndicated ones -- as late as the early 90's. I wasn't born until '78, but I still grew up watching the Doctor. But it wasn't exactly something that was ever marketed over here, so you would have had to know about it or have heard about it in order to find it. In watching the new British series (quite good), this is the ONLY Doctor not mentioned in "the count," Paul McGann's TV Movie Doc is counted in the "regenerations." Of note is that, IIRC, Peter Cushing's portrayal is the *only* time The Doctor has actually been CALLED "Doctor Who," by name; of this part I am sure, as I have, and have watched both movies a number of times <g> (available on DVD). Since then, he has simply been called, "The Doctor." I could be mistaken about that part, please feel free to correct me!! A Time Lord can regenerate "only" 12 times; but I bet they come up with a way around THAT, since our friend is the last of his species, his home planet and all other Time Lords having been destroyed in "The Last Time War" (This is no spoiler, they tell you right off in the beginning of the new series, *promise!*). Hello Again (gosh, I hope this comes out better than my last post!!)! I am trying to help out a Highlander Listmate, who is looking for a story; I am cutting and pasting the post here, with permission, of course, if anyone recognizes the story, that would sure be great, thanks!! Here is the post: I'm trying to find a fanfic I saw years ago, unfortunately I can't remember the title or the author :p It was a crossover between Highlander and some other TV show--I think Forever Knight--that had to do with vampires. Some vampire crossed paths with Ritchie and tried to 'turn' him, not realizing he was already Immortal. The resulting conflict between the Immortal and vampire natures drove Ritchie temporarily nuts and had members of both groups (immortals and vamps) trying to track him down... does anyone remember a story like this? There you have it; thanks in advance! I am actually writing (and close to finishing) a story. It has been a while. Don't get too excited, this one is just a little ditty, I have a bunch more languishing in my "In Progress" folder. Anyhoo... What, in Toronto, would be a non-religious venue for a wedding? The time is around Oct/Nov, so outdoor is not an option. I am looking for something that has the atmosphere of a church, but without the religious aspect. If there isn't a definite answer, I'll just make one up. The location isn't that integral to the plot. Oh, and along those lines... in Canada, would a non-religious officiate be a judge? Or who would the standard officiate be at such a ceremony?
