You know, I think Portia could be onto something here, with the theory that many, if not most, newly created vampires basically go insane... Which in turn could lead to some interested fanfic, for those struggling for new story ideas. > I thought about the idea of "first hunger" and the impulsive and deranged > behavior of many of the recently "converted" (well, especially Nick's! > "g"); of Richard's and the Barber's extreme psychotic behaviour, etc.. Not to mention the Irish leper woman (sorry, I can 'see' the storyline so vividly in my head, but I'll be darned if I can remember either her name or the episode she appears in!) who is healed by Nicholas making her a vampire, only for her to go on a killing rampage, taking vengeance on those who abused and rejected her. (Even if I do think she had good reason to do so.) And Jack the Ripper... And Rasputin the Mad Monk.... And the behaviour of Vachon (who's basically a nice person) the evening after his conversion, when he stakes his 'twin', the Inca and takes a runner... And we'd better not mention Divia - whoops! I just did! <G> Yes, I can definitely see that many newly made vampires are definitely nutty as the proverbial fruit cake. Must keep the Enforcers busy, if nothing else. Maybe that's why so many legends about vampires are nasty ones - we mere mortals are mostly aware of our interaction with crazy newbie vampires on a post-conversion killing spree, but not with the mature vampires who are quite capable of fitting into our society. Some o' you droogs asked me for an update on what Himelfishness Hisself is doing right now. Busy as usual. So in his own words -- Libs: O Thank You to all the brave souls who put their lives on the line for my birthday peek into the inner workings of Ratpackers' brainboxes. I was quite taken with how many of you lot travel original (!) paths through life. Busy, yes. Directing: Have a Heart at the Centaur Theatre, opens in 2 weeks. Directing: The Gut Girls at Concordia University, in preproduction. I have at least three writing projects on the go... And oh, yes, the Canadian Who's Who 2005 edition now includes Himselfishness. That would be Elizabeth in I Will Repay. I agree, Portia's whole theory has merit. And it certainly explains Richard Lambert... and Nick's unreasonable expectation that he would be okay, because after all, Nick and Jeanette were just fine. I really should learn to save the stories I like to my drive... Anyhoo... I am looking for a story. The basic idea is: Nick becomes mortal, but he becomes the mortal he was before being brought across. He cannot speak english and knows nothing of the modern world. Natalie helps him. Any ideas? Thanks so much. -Amanda "This thing... man... whatever it is...evil may have created it, left its mark on it, but evil does not rule it. So please don't just say "question" or "thoughts." Tell us what question or what thoughts, as in "Was Screed the Pied Piper?' or "Suppose Dr. Who was in Last Knight." Ok those are extreme examples, but you get the idea. :) When you're on digest and using reply, please change the automatic "Re: Forkni-l digest" to whatever you're actually going to talk about.
