Subject: Mary Sue vs War stories: thanks!

I just want to thank you all SO much for the wonderful input to what
I thought would be a silly question! :)

I agree with Nancy who says FK Wars are a beast unto themselves and
there's nothing else quite like 'em. :) I've found that trying to
intelligently explain a War to the non-initiated is usually
frustrating to both parties involved in the discussion and often ends
up with the other person doing a good version of a Vaquera-ish
<blink-blink>. The when I add,"Oooh, you do that really well! Do you
also drool over long dark hair and big brown eyes? Say the word
'Pragmatist' for me!"....well, they usually run off screaming in
terror, or looking up the phone listing for the local whacky ward. ;)

The reason behind my question is, I'm an assistant list-mom for the
Foreverknightfanatics, a multi-faction list that's been puttering
around for about 5 years. Much silliness happens onlist, (or
"happened", it's been verrrrry quiet lately; RL is EVIL) and
inevitably the list has spawned some fanfic, both serious and
silly.....mostly silly. Upon the list's "birth", we listmembers
discussed the need to have a virtual HQ, like the Ratpackers HQ, the
DP Mansion, or the ever-famous Shrine. We came up with the Fanatics'
Castle. Probably 90% of the fic written onlist is what we lovingly
call "Castlefic" as it's the role-playing/War-type stories that
happen in or around the Castle to the listmembers, and yes, now that
you've mentioned it, the FK characters do seem to be perfectly
content taking a supporting role in these stories. :)

I was taking advantage of a much needed break from RL by touching up
the Foreverknightfanatics' Website and Fic pages and realized just
how MUCH Castlefic there is. The thought struck me that any innocent
reader in search of FK Fanfic who stumbled unto the site might come
away thoroughly disgusted and UNamused by the silliness unless it's
all properly organized and labeled with apropriate warning signs
pointing the way to the serious stuff. I just didn't know if there
was a "proper" and universally understood term for our War stories,
or how to label our Castlefic for those innocent souls who have never
been blooded by a War, or who ...well...don't have a klew what
"Castlefic" is.

It's all about protecting the innocent. ;)

<waves> :D
